Another Fill
I'm going for my second fill tomorrow even though I only got my first one 5 days ago. I feel NOTHING and my doc said to come back in if I didn't feel even a twinge! So I'm excited to get my 2nd one and START this journey!!!

New Scale
That's a great idea Elisabethsew! I'll do that. Although my guess would be that the digital one is more accurate.

Canadian Chat
That would be cool but difficult to get a conveninet time for everyone. But it is worth trying. I have gone to the chat room a few times (not recently) and usually nobody is there. However a couple of times I lucked in and was able to chat with folks. :canada: :canada:

New Scale
:canada: :canada: :canada: Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I just bought a new scale (expensive one too!). It is my first digital one (it is a Weight Watchers scale). I figured it would be easier to read (since I seem to be half blind!!!! LOL) and more importantly...more exact. BUTTTT, the problem is it is weighing me at 3.5 lbs higher than my other one!!! I weighed myself on both just 20 seconds apart! Of course I'm going to continue using the new one but now it is like I've gained 3.5 lbs when I haven't!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Yet, it has to become my new "baseline" for accuracy purposes etc. Noooooooooooooooooooo FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heat Wave in Ontario!!!
Yup, mosquitoes are alive and well right now; especially at night. BUT, on the upside I do notice they are smaller than usual; but tis early in the season yet! What really bugs me (NO pun intended!) are the June Bugs!! UUUUGH! I was watering the plants the other night (in the dark) and something wacked me hard against my bare neck and I could hear the wings fluterring etc....and it smacked into me. DAMN THING. I'm sure it was a June Bug...I don't know what else could have actually hurt me that much slamming into me like that!!! Oh...and my husband reminded me to say that I also screamed like a little girl! (It was dark and I wasn't expecting to be attacked!!!). Of course he comes running to see if I'm okay (good to know!) and I had to shamefully say it was just a bug!!!

newbie here!!!!
The nausea thing was my big fear too; as a few yrs ago after some surgery I had, I woke up out of it vomiting. Not fun. I explained this to them and they said that they use a really strong anti-nauseau drug and they would keep an eye on top of that. So, it was a breeeeze!! No nausea either immediately afterwards or later on (although I did take liquid gravol for a couple of days "just in case").

Low calorie protein powder
Once again...this may not apply to Canada. We don't have Walgreens in Canada. I'll look to see if Benefibre is in Canada though; although 6 g is NOT a lot!! I'd rather use Protein powder (low carb, low cal etc). It's worth the tradeoff to get a BIG dose of protein (ie. 40 g as opposed to 6).

Low calorie protein powder
Got the powder at the GNC store (many malls have them). It is pricey but it lasts a long time. I"m just happy I found one that I liked on the first crack. It is about $40 for 1 Kg or $91 for 2.72 kg.

Had first fill...
:canada: :canada: Okay, got my first fill on Thursday. Not bad really. Of course, (as for any type of needle) I kept my eyes closed the whole time and wouldn't even dare look at the needle (so I still don't even know how big it is!). Like everyone said...no real pain, just some discomfort; especially when the nurse pulled it out. The downside: I can still eat at least half a horse....so I hope it merely just hasn't "kicked in" yet; otherwise no doubt I'll go back in about 2 weeks for more. I had 5ccs put into my midband (holds 9). Immediately afterwards, I drank my whole bottle of Water in 10 mins with no problem. Yet others who were also there for their first fill could "feel it" and it took them a long time to drink their water and they had gurgling etc. One guy had to have some removed. So, hopefully I "feel" it soon cause I sure as heck don't now!!! Overall, not a negative experience.

Low calorie protein powder
Hi Buffie...I was banded by Dr. Joffe as well and had the same post-op diet. I used the GNC brand Protein powder (from GNC!)...the "double royale chocolate" IS REALLY yummy. In fact I just bought my second "jug" yesterday. It is low carb and high protein. For week one, I mixed it in Water (it reallly wasn't that bad). For weeks two and three I mixed it i milk or chocolate milk or even ensure (I needed the cals) and mixed with those (the milk etc) it is WONDERFUL!!!! In fact, I still have it for Breakfast every morning. Sometimes I add a bananna. I also tried the bananna berry flavour powder; also good but I preferred the choc!. Good luck!

Heat Wave in Ontario!!!
Hiya Loriely: glad things went well for your pre-op visit. No, I didn't have any popsicles of any type during my pre-op diet (just yougurt, yougurt and more yougurt!). However, I lived on Delmonte sugar free popsicles (fruit flavoured) immediately after my surgery. They are great because they come as a "single" popsicle stick. Try your hardest to stick to your pre-op diet; it will really be a big benefit in the long run! congrat on your surgery date!

Heat Wave in Ontario!!!
Hey Carol...are you near the Peterborough area? Yup, had a big downfall and T-storms here as well. I just heard that the GTA region is under a Tornado warning; a little too close to home! Hey Argon, I don't mind the heat but I really hate the humidity. If it was a dry prairie like heat, I wouldn't mind!

Heat Wave in Ontario!!!
Okay....so how are those in Ontario holding up over the last 3 days?? It hit 39 degrees where I am yesterday and it was over 45 with the humidex.....can you spell "melting puddle"???? Aaaaaarggggh. I think everyone I know stayed and worked late in their Air conditioned bldgs in order to delay the inevitable of getting into a hot sweltering car or bus!!!!! This should be the last day though and it should break tonight!! Here's hopin'!!!!! Get ready folks.....the humidity has only just begun......*sigh*...damn Ontario humidity.
