Emergency trip to Toronto
depends on the hospital, the ER, and the staff....it may only have burst the bubble in your circumstance...not in all! Also, I'm pretty sure if they are at loose ends and all else has failed...they will look at the DVD!

Could I get someone to kick my *ss, please?
CanadaSunshine...I know how the day can get away from you...especially if you are holed up in the basement working on the computer....my advice: get up and do it FIRST thing in the morning (have a lil' something to eat first) ....make it the first thing you do BEFORE you start work etc. That way it is done and over with before you feel your day starts, type of thing. If you have to get up earlier....than so be it. Just try it and see how that works for you. Remember, you'll likely hate it at first...but don't let that stop you....you have to do it several times to get used to it and make it part of your routine and habit. If you keep it up, eventually you'll find yourself "lost" if you don't do it. Good luck!

Pre-op
It varies. If in doubt, call the clinic and ask them....don't take what people here say wrt your particular situation! That is what the clinic is there for!! Ask and make sure before you act!

Pre-op
I think it is just your lack of food intake. Your body is saying "WTF"!!!!??? You are bound to feel like that since you likely don't have enough energy in your body. Take is easy...you can't do the same intensity during this period (or the post-op). Work your way back up to it once you are eating and consuming lots of energy.

My Day has come !
Absolutely not. A "sticking out" port does not equate to a flipped port.

well, if you don't understand why it is a bizarre statement....(let me count the ways!) it isn't worth it to try and explain it! Bottom line is that YOU believe it and if that is what is important to you and works for you...then yay. :paranoid

not a stupid question Jurema.... "You" won't be able to tell if your port has moved or is sideways. The doctor or a skilled fill nurse would be able to take a very educated guess...but the only "for sure" way to see if there is a problem is under fluro. I wouldn't worry about it....what you described when you feel under your scar is completely normal!

Yeah, no kidding, eh??!!! In more ways than one.... 1. what a marketing scheme....2nd best!! LOL LOL Ahhhh, the irony. 2. and WHO decides this!!! I'm sorry...lmao...this is just too funny!

Getting pissed off
I don't like voice mail either...but lets face it, these people don't sit around at their desk all day! That IS what voice mail and e-mail is for...so that they can get back to you as quickly as possible. I've never had an issue with that. Part of the trick is knowing WHO to leave the voice mail and/or e-mail with. If you leave it with the wrong person, naturally it will take that much longer to get to the right person and have them get back to you. Personally, I've never had an issue and have always had my e-mail/voice-mail returned to me in a timely fashion. If I REALLLLLY want to talk to a real person right away, I don't leave a voice mail....I just keep phoning every 10 mins or so and then I'm bound to get them at their desk at some point. Don't get discouraged....just handle it properly. And, if you still aren't satisfied, as Susan said....kindly ask them what you can do at your end to receive more attention....etc.

Measuirng & weight food
exercise is not (and has never been) a problem for me. It has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Mostly because I enjoy it. That is the trick....finding something you enjoy so it doesn't seem like a chore and something you "have to do". And, what works for one, won't work for another. Also...variety variety variety so you don't get bored. Remember.....takes 21 days to change a habit (of doing the "habit" for 21 days).

WOW MANDI!!!!! 160s!!!! That is soooooooo incredibly AWESOME!!! Well done, girl! That seems soooooooooo freakin' far out of my reach..............I haven't moved downwards in 3 weeks (& in fact have gained)..... grrrrrr....it just may be beyond my reach.....the 160s. Hell, I'd settle for the 180s now!!! Anyways, tis not about meeeeee!! (LOL).... Yay you! :clap2:

Susan's Solemn Silliness
Green.....take care of yourself....I hope you feel better soon and get rid of that nasty infection. *sending you good vibes*. You have done AWESOME....."no scale girl".....!!!

Susan's Solemn Silliness
Others have already said it, so I won't repeat it Susan.....just HANG IN THERE!!! It will get better! By the way....as for your portion sizes.....*slaps you upside the head*. Do you not have the TLBC "Post Op Diet and Nutrition Plan"???? or are you reading it incorrectly (or am I misreading your post??). On the mushies (Pureed Diet) stage you can eat MORE than 1/4 cup at a meal!!!! Do NOT starve yourself by only having 1/4 cup if you can eat more. As an example....for lunch ...you can have: 1/4 cup minced tuna AND 1/4 cup pureed potatoes AND 1/4 cup pureed veg...... In other words, this adds up to 3/4 cup (in this instance). A good very very very filling (& chock full of protein) mushie to have is the following: Take a can of "bean & bacon" Soup....add the 1 can of Water (as it says)....then add 1/2 can of refried Beans....mix it all up and then slowly heat it up in a pot on the stove (stirring frequently). It is a very thick soup and should fill you up. Eat 3/4 cup of it..... Good luck.....! All in all, you are doing GREAT, so don't berate yourself.

Absolutely not. You should be able to very easily swallow water with no issues/problems immediately after a fill. This is for a reason. Ultimately the choice is yours....but you'd have to lie....as if you tell them you are having a problem, they will take some out (again, for a reason). But, why you would lie is beyond me!!! Be patient and do it the right way...that is my recommendation!

Emergency trip to Toronto
yeah, you'd think that would matter...but it doesn't! My friend had this happen 9 months after her last fill!! So, you never know....there is really no rhyme or reason...just try and recognize the signs and don't ignore it and think it will go away. Yeah, I know Lila...it's different when you experience it yourself! If it weren't for my husband incessantly bugging me to do something about it, I would have been in the same boat as you a couple of months ago!

Banding in Toronto
Yes, we are lucky (I'm about 2 hrs away from downtown TO)....I try and remind myself of that when I'm stuck in traffic trying to get there!!! I'd rather have that than be an out of province patient!! The ticker thingy.....go to Graphical Event Ticker for your Signature, Message Boards, Blogs and Web Page

Emergency trip to Toronto
Holy Crap Lila!!! Sorry you went through it but I don't blame you for going to the SG and getting info directly from Dr Yau. I'm glad you are well (or getting there).....and yes, TLBC does have a great DVD which can come in very handy. Also, let that be a lesson to us all....if this starts to happen....GO GET A DEFILL ASAP....don't wait for it to get as bad as what happened to Lila. It IS a warning sign. That too happened to me a few months ago and at the insistence of Mr Yoda, I went and got the defill....otherwise, I too would have ended up at the same bad place....I have no doubts!!! All should learn from the "mistakes" we make so you don't have to go through the same ones!! Thanks for sharing Lila...and take care!

the cost at TLBC includes "fills for life" (includes de-fills too, of course). Of course that means you have to physically go to TLBC for the fills....which is why some end up paying (ie. if they live far far away from TO and chose not to go back for aftercare).

I hear ya Mandi...I still can't actually see mine sticking out but I can feel it. Mr Yoda's REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY sticks out.......we'll ask about it next time we go. But then again, maybe I had more fat up there!!!

Mandi.....if you have the store "The Running Room" anywhere near you...check them out (not sure if they have any in NB)....their staff "knows" running and has you walk on paper and then "run" for them so they can check out your gait etc. Good luck! You have done (& are doing) sooooo incredibly AWESOME!

surgery question
I certainly HOPE that wherever you are going for your surgery that they stitch the stomach (at least part of it) up over the band (as you put it). This anchors it much more effectively in place. A few yrs ago, this wasn't being done and it resulted in more slippages....so now, the "better" doctors do the anchoring better by doing this type of stitching. Trust me, you WANT them to do this. This was one of the first questions I asked my doctor ...I wanted to make sure they were "current"...and of course, they were. You make it sound like it is a bad thing, when in fact, it is quite the opposite!
