  1. Hi all, I have lost about sixty pounds since I started my journey, but I don't think i am losing as much as I could. I will start counting my cals as much as I hate it. I think I am eating 1000-1500 a day, with a 4cc fill. I do not excerise which i am going to change. I have been walking my mother's dog on the weekend Ha Ha Ha!!!! I do not have enough restriction I can still eat more than a cup of food. I still am looking for the swet spot. We can do this:smile: Kim:thumbup:
  2. Hi, I just want to thank you for your post. It is a good question. I am female so we don't always see the weight issue the same way in relationships. I have recently decided to date again. I am wondering how I am going to tell people I may want to date. So good luck with your surgery and good luck with your relationship. Peace Kimtwan
  3. Hi all I was banded on January 26, 2009 and I have lost pre and post surgery 40 pounds. I eat a good bit, but I have not had a fill yet. Will get it this Friday. Still I only eat 3 meals a day. I usually do not eat more than a cup a meal. I have noticed that I am slowing down with losing. I will start some real exercising this week.:huh2: Kim
  4. Hi Sorry I was busy!! Yes I like the way the Bose fit as well as sound. I also like the way the Sony's felt. Do some research I did not like the sound of the Ipod buds. Peace Kim:redface:
  5. Hi Real good ones are the Bose, they are expensive but they are worth it. I payed about $100 for them. Look on the Bose web site and investiage. These earphones come with 3 different sizes of inner ear comfort buds so they do stay in place. Also you have the technology of Bose. I also found Sony ear buds to have a great sound. Hope this was helpful Kim
  6. everyone should vote!!!!
  7. Hi all Wow!!! thats what I need a plate that keeps my food warm while I eat!! I am 3 wks post-op and my food is always cold when I done:mad:. I am one who is use to eating fast or on the run; so I need my food to stay warm!!! I am still learning to eat at a slow rate. I did think of the baby warming plate. But I like the one at the elderstore better. :tt2: Working towards a better me!!! Kim
  8. Hi all, I am 3 weeks post-op:cool2:. On mushies/soft foods; went out with a friend to a movie and dinner. I ordered stuff flounder; came with mash potatoes, mix vegs and a salad. I ate the courtans out of the salad, just lest than 1/4 of the fish and non of the mash potatoes. Took all the rest home;not the salad. My friend had soup, lemon chicken, mash potatoes, string beans and chocolate mouse cake!!! WOW!!:rose: Kim
  9. Hi, I was banded on Mon 1/26 and I didn't have a BM until Sat; then didn't again for another week. I am one that is very regular. My doc told me to use Milk of Magnesia. I am still having issues. I am on mushies:unsure: and the trans from liquid to mushies made me go! Good Luck! Kim:thumbup:
  10. Hi I really love Tai Chi. I too have a dvd but find that it is hard to do and watch. I haven't found a class to fit my schedule; I work 3pm-12am Mon-fri all the classes I found are in the evein. I still am looking for one that fits in good luck Kim
  11. Hi all, have you all thought about those of us who have not or could not excerise due to our obestiy and health issues. those of us who knees, feet and legs can't handle the excerise that most of you do. I know it will get better once the weight starts to come off; but how much and how long before you can run 10k or bike 20miles w/o incident. So what besides walking and some lite areobics do us beginners do? we too need support. Good luck to all that are doing well with their excerise program Kim

Congrades on your dating! It has been almost 4 years since I was in a relationship a bad relationship!! Since then I haven't had the confidence of a 20yr to go out there and date. I have not even seen some of my old lovers for a hook up; not interested. I rearly go out to clubs or private parties; too concern about my weight. Most of my friends are in relationships and I just feel awkward at parties. Hopefully soon I will want to go out. I am in my mid-forties and the club is not for me. So we will see what happens. Good Luck!!!!
  14. Hi congratulations on bandaversary!!! Great weight lost!! I was just banded on Jan 26, 09 still on liquids hope to have the sucess that you have. I will be 46 in may I know how hard it is to lose weight. We need to be there for each other. Kim
  15. My doc's orders say liquid diet for 2 wks; with clear lq 1-3 days advance as tolerated. I was banded on 1/26/09 and still in first wk; I tried creamed soup on the third day and it did not sit well. It went down ok but afterwards o-boy what discomfort. So 2day I have not tried any food yet I will eat my protein jello and maybe a protein shake later but no food until after the 2wks. I will trie more soup this weekend. I don't know how some of you can eat sooo soon after surgerg. I also had a hiatal hernia repaair which may contribe to my intolerance to the soup. I have't been hungry yet, well 2ay I am a little hungry but afraid 2 try the jello yet. becareful with the food; eat slowly; chew well, and eat only what you can tolerate. good luck all:thumbup: Kim
  16. I was banded on 1-26-09, not too bad the first 2 days. But Wednesday I tried more fluid b/c I was dehydrated and a little creamed strained soup, well the soup went down but a little later I did not feel that great. I don't know if it was the soup or that I was doing a little too much being up all day helping with my new nephew(2 wks old) and my 86 yr old grandmother. I had gas as well. Hot tea seem to help and later I found a heating pad that helped alot with my discomfort. I am staying at my mother's house for this week, so I thought she would be here to help ,but her job called her back to work and Wednesday was her first day back. Iplan to do just clear liquids 2day and rest more 2day maybe a protien drink later in the eveing. I was surprised my this set back:mad2: i really had a bad eveing. Gas still no bms since before the surgery. But not that hungry and the ice pops help with that. Good luck!!!:bored: Kim
  17. had my surgerg on jan 26,2009. visiting nurse sai bp was low and my heart rate was low also!! She did contribute this to dehydration and pain meds. So I am to drink moreand monitor my pain a bp meds. Kim:redface:
  18. Hi all Had my surgery on yesterday, I never did go to sleep so since I was first case, 7:30 am I got showered and dressed at about 4:30am. I called my aunt for a ride to the hospital at 5:00am got to the hospital at about 515am. Since I work at the hospital in the admissions office; I decided to leave my coat and bag there, thank God I did because I found out that my surgery had been pushed back to 8am and my paper work wasn't done like the first cased were. So I had to be registered then I went up to pre-op area. Once in the back the nuse instructed me to undress and put on the gown after what seemed like a year the nurse finally came in took vital signs, asked all the important questions then what seemed like another year I finally was rolled backed to pre and hold. Once back there my nurse check my Id, started my IV and asked the same questions again. Then the anesthesiologist Dr. Farreri came in asked some more questions about me and anesthesa, checked my ID and explained what was going to happen before and during surgery. About 7:15 Laurie White My Doctor's assistant came in to check on me and to tell me that Dr. Meilahn wouldbe there soon. The anthesiologist came in several times looking to see if the Dr. had come in to see me finally at 8:10 Dr. Meillahn came in check my belly ask questions. The anthes nuse came in to get me gave me my happy shot and off to the operating room we went. Once I was on the table I don't remember anything. The next thing I remember was being in the recovery room and my nurse telling me it was over and everything was fine. I apparently had a hiatal hernia that my Dr. or myself did not know about so he had to repair that and take out two leasions so all n all things worked out for the best. So I was out about 10-1030am. I was settled in my room at 12noon and I was very, very sleepy, got pain meds from nurse. My mouth was ver, very dry wanted to drink a glass of water, but a slipp relieved it very temporary. My main problem was mouth dryness. my belly felt fine and I slept for a long time. Later my nuse got me up to the chair and sat there and slept, walked to bathroom sat until I voided and back to bed to sleep. I woke up made some calls, nurse came in got me upa gain to walk the hallway did without incident, ate some broth without incident. back to bed waited for doctor he gave the ok for discharge. I was discharge at 9pm when my brother came to pick me up from NJ my mother's house where I will be recup at. All and All I feel fine no major discomfort. Can't stay up long, have been walking around, holding my new nephew. The visting nurse will be here today and my Lovanox has arrived. So will see how it goes. Soon I hope the pounds will be comeing off. Good luck !!! Kim
  19. Hi to all and good luck to all that is getting banded today and this week. I am also getting banded on Jan 26, 2009 I started by pre-op diet on Jan 12th not doing too well with that. Has anyone else have a problem with the pre-op diet. I dehydrated can't get more than 3 slimfast in a day. only chocolate taste good. pre-admit testing Jan 20th. Can't wait for surgery day:thumbup: Kim
  20. Hi, I have not been banded still waiting for a surgery date:frown: I am getting banded because I want to be healthy. I missed the days when I was a 9/10 or 11/12 hottie wearing comfortable and fashionable clothing. I want to be able to breathe when I am walking upstairs or just plain walking. I tired of my knees hurting and not being or wanting to be active. I tired of hiding out in my home on the weekends because I get tired easly and I am no longer comfortable with how I look. I miss playing basketball, running or just outdoor fun!! I do want to play with my four grandchildren and I do want to live to see them into adulthood. I want to be there for them!!!! Kim
  21. Hi all I thought I would be banded in the first week of the new year. But!!! I have to see my Surgeon on Jan 7 th, i believe that he will want to discuss my gallbladder; which i have stones. My Dr. may want to remove my gallbladder before he puts in the band. He has stated in at a group meeting that if you get a gastric bypass then he would remove the gallbladder then but if you get a lap band then it would have to be 2 separate surgeries. I am afraid of what he may suggest at our meeting. I have come this far and I still want the lap band!!! I know I not ready for the gastric bypass; just too much!!! Good luck to you!!! Kim
