  1. You go girl! You look sooo good! I am only down about 50 lbs, but I am now stalled because I have stopped working out and kicked my diet to the curb. After reading your story, I am inspired again. Off the couch I go. I really need to work on my protein intake.
  2. I have had four fills also. I have a little restriction, but I have heard so many horror stories about getting so tight that you can't tolerate anything. I do not want to have a complete unfill. My MD is very understanding and patient. He explains everything. He told me I have a 10cc band and right now I have about 5 cc in my band. i am about 6 months out, so he says I can have a fill every 2 weeks if I want until I reach my desired restriction, but I am scared!
  3. I had a bad experience today with meat. I tried to eat it first as instructed, but I was only able to eat a few bites before it felt stuck! So I couldn't eat anything more and I was starving. It took a couple of hours for it to go down. By that time I was sooo hungry that I pigged out (more than 1/2 cup) on soft foods that are able to go down. None of which contained much protein! I am having a hard time adjusting to this third fill, but I do not want an unfill at this time so I guess I have to deal with it!
  4. I feel the same way. I just got my third fill and I cannot eat much because it feels stuck, but I am still very hungry. It has been a very frustrating week to say the least, but I hope that I will some how adjust.
  5. I had something get stuck today. I drank a couple of sips of juice whcih didn't help at first because it wouldn't go down either then finally it went down. It is very uncomfortable!

    No support from husband

My husband pretended to be interested and supportive before my surgery. There was so much prep time and hard requirements before surgery that I think he thought I would give up, but I was determined. He went with me to a visit and when I had surgery. He was very supportive during my post op issues, but once I begain to loose a noticeable amount of weight, it has changed. He has become insecure. He accuses me of trying to loose weight to find a new man. It is going to be hard for him because I am not the same person anymore. I am more confident. I received a promotion at work. I LOVE to shop and look nice now. So it is scary to him. He has to realize I still love only him and he will be alright. I hope! hang in there. This was one of the best choices I have made. Good luck to you!
  7. I was not aware that this was even an option! I am a nurse who works on the unit that specializes in WLS and I would not feel comfortable doing myself. I could see trying to do someone else, but there are too many things that can go wrong. What if you can't find the port? What if you over fill? What is the risk of infection? What if you are not in the correct area and you start injecting saline? I would advice against this practice and I could not imagine why any GOOD doctor would suggest or allow this!

    Ladies with large chests...

I wore an underwire bra home from the hospital with no problem. It probably does depend where your incisions are located.
  10. I was like that for the first 2 weeks. I had no appetite at all. I did not want to drink anything not even water, but I forced myself because I did not want to become dehydrated. Take it slowly, even if you just do sips and/or popsicles. Hang in there and congrats on your surgery!
  11. I told my family and close friends. My situation is different in that I work on the unit that specializes in WLS. I told a few people that I can trust, but I just don't want to be scrutinized during my journey. It is tough enough dealing with my ups and downs without everyone at work watching my every move.
  12. I am glad to see that I am not the only person loosing hair. I was told to increase my protein, but I am not a big meat eater and I hate protein supplements! Help!
  13. I just can't wait to buy anything that doesn't have plus or a X after it! I miss being able to shop at regular stores like the Gap or the Limited.

Which foods can you not eat?

I have only had one fill so I am at 1cc in my 10cc band. So far I can eat whatever I want which is a little disappointing. Nothing gets stuck.

    Chicago Bandsters......

Hi all. I live in Montgomery and I too would love to have some buddies in the area. I kinda fell of the wagon over the holiday and I really need to get back on track. Anyone else have this problem?

How many fills do you have to have?

I just got my first fill a week ago. I have in 1 cc. I can still eat what I want and I can eat more than a half cup if I choose to. I do notice that I stay full longer. So I am not eating enough. My MD is upset with me because I have been loosing 5 to 6 lbs within a week or so. He says most people loose a pound a week. So I am not sure if he will give me another fill anytime soon. But I don't have restriction in the sense that I can only eat very little amounts, but like I said I stay full longer. Some days if I eat twice a day, I am doing good.

    Day Two and Miserable

I had my surgery over a month ago and it will get better very soon. I felt the same way and was wondering if I had made a mistake, but within a week I felt better and returned to work. Now I just had my first fill a week ago. I amk down 3 dress sizes and feeling great! Hang in there!
  18. I was told to eat 4 ounces at a time. 2 or more should be protein, which should be eaten first. Then 1 ounce veggies or fruit. I had my surgery 1 month ago and I was really full at first (while swollen) but now I can probably eat about 1 cup of food and I am full. i hope this gets better after my first fill next week!
  19. I had surgery on 10/16. I finally got over the gas pain and my incisions are fine but whenever I burp or take inreally deep reaths, I get this really bad, climaxing, spasmy pain in my chest. Has anyone ever experiened this? It's very annoying and I hope it is normal and going away soon!

    protein help

I just had surgery on 10/16. I am having the same issue! I went to my f/u yest and I have lost a little over 10 lbs in 1 week because I don't like the shakes and things anymore. I am now on mushy so hopefully things will improve. I had some tuna, a mashed potato, you can have eggs, yogurt, skim milk, pureed fish or chicken. Pretty much any protein source that can be smushed in a blender. Good luck!

    Chicago Bandsters......

Hey all. My name is Mz. Y. I live in the far western suburbs. I was just banded on 10/16 so this is all very new for me. I started the process at a whooping 277lbs. Since then I am down to about 240 thanks to my horrible pre op diets. I am looking forward to reaching my goal of 130 lbs!
