  1. Unless the woman is proven to be suffering from some kind of post partum psychosis, I can't see ANY excuse that warrants her actions.
  2. Susan asked for this thread to get back on topic well over a week ago. Is there a reason you decided to fuel the fire?
  3. Religion has a lot to do with many peoples' opinions so don't let that cause the debate to deteriorate. Making it personal is hard not to do... at least for me.
  4. cm is a unit of measurement and cc/ml is a measurement of volume. Please don't give out incorrect information.
  5. WASA You do have a way with words!. LOL.
  6. If the "other" site is so good, why are you here stirring the pot?
  7. A good friend of mine went to see a weight loss surgeon who does all types. He told my friend (male, 6', 425 pounds) that the sleeve was "not as effective" as the band or the bypass. Several others heard the same thing from their surgeons. Since the sleeve done today is different than those performed in the past, I think it's important to get accurate info "out there" to people looking for alternatives to the band.
  8. I look forward to reading and learning.
  9. WASA, Do you have a link to info on the sleeve similar to what you've done for Mexican MDs?
  10. I think that one of the ways a surgeon decides which band to use is based on the amount of weight that needs to be lost (in addition to the anatomy). A 4 cc band seems a bit small given the amount Ali wants to lose. Since the Realize band holds 9 cc's, maybe that will "do the trick" for her as she loses the rest of the weight.
  11. I believe Rockbandster has decided to leave the forum.
  12. I believe Rockbandster elected to leave the forum.
  13. I had surgery in the States and got free fills for a year. I now pay the co-pay which is $35. I do think a lot of MDs get a ridiculous amount of money for fills but the good news is that you eventually get to the place where you should be. After a fill, I get an instruction sheet that states the full effect of the fill might not be noticed for 2 weeks and to eats liquids for a day, soft for the next day or two, and then back to a regular diet.
  14. I have know Dr. Geiss for over 20 years and work as an NP in the same health care system. For THAT reason, I limited my action to writing a letter to the CEO and CNO. Yes, HIPPA violations are serious and I will be discussing this issue with Dr. Geiss when I see him in a few weeks.
  15. Please the read the PM I sent you and stop accusing people of things they did not say. I never insinuated "anyone lacks intelligence" and will not reduce myself to arguing with you.
  16. Congratulations on being banded and welcome to the forum. Since you are a new member, it might be a good idea to read the rules of the forum. Attacking ideas is fine but personal attacks on people is not. The topic of this thread is the costs of fills and peoples' opinions on THAT issue. If you have a problem with an individual, use the option of sending a PM.
  17. "Banding Together" is the name of the newsletter that Dr. Geiss emails to his patients. I believe I know who this person is and had to report him when he violated HIPPA laws. My advice to people with the Realize band is to listen to success stories like bassriley.
  18. I am a friend of Dr. Geiss as well as his patient. I am going to discuss this matter with him and ask him to do a search of posts bearing his name related to the Realize band. He uses both bands and I'm sure he would not appreciate someone who works at Syosset Hospital speaking FOR him.
  19. Rock, At this point, you're beating a dead horse. People are not going to go to their surgeons' offices using your words and your statistics to demand one band over the other. Aren't you a PACU transport aide for Dr. Geiss? The bottom line is that ANY band will "fail" if the person who has it fails to follows all the rules that go with the band such as drinking, exercise, etc., guidelines. You gave your opinion and people are looking for SUPPORT. Either be supportive or seek a new topic to post on. There are MANY for you to choose from.
  20. I would add NOT to drink with meals so that you can truly know when you're full.
  21. You are entitled to your opinion but please respect the fact that some people have more trials than others and come seeking support.

  23. 4crazyboys, I understand your frustration and, as a moderator, have to follow the rules that govern when we are able to suspend/ban a member. The administrator is well aware of the tone and contents of this thread and is taking appropriate action. I do think that rockbandster has made his/her point very well known. It's gotten to the point now where it seems like an obsession or a mission that he/she must "educate" everyone who has the Realize band on what a poor choice they made. The saying, "beating a dead horse" comes to mind. Please DO voice your concerns and ask whatever questions you have. It has become quite well known that any post created by Rockbandster will contain the same information against the Realize band and many people now just skip over reading what he/she says. The Realize band is new and many people have it. I have the inamed band but want to know how people with ALL types of surgical interventions are doing... pros and cons. Have faith that the administrators are on top of this situation and don't let one poster keep you from sharing and helping others.
  24. Please remember to stick to the topic and not insult one another.
