  1. Thanks, Ruthi. The band was a complete failure for me so this is whole new experience for me. I definitely feel full when the hiccups start and put the folk down. LOL.
  2. I just seem to hiccup but it's LOUD. LOL. Also, my nose starts to run and I think some people with the band experience this too.
  3. LOL. I'm glad to know I'm not alone, Susan!
  4. He is one of the best surgeons so nothing was done wrong. They say the true test is when you go to solids. I did that for the first time this evening and boy are they right! Hang in there. If you feel hungry all the time, write to Gaby and maybe they will allow you to advance early.
  5. Everyone is different. Also, I had a filled band up until the day before surgery. I also suffered from daily heart burn and acid reflux. Susan was barfing food and had her band unfilled @ 3 weeks before surgery. I believe you had an unfilled band for quite some time and really had no major problems with the band. How much weight do you need to lose to get to goal? Given the choice, I would have LOVED to be able to down fluids the way you can. I NEVER had restriction with the band so maybe that is a factor also.
  6. Actually, feeling restriction validates for me that the band was useless. I never felt ANYTHING like this with the band. It's so strange "existing" on so little food but I'm not complaining!
  7. When they did the barium swallow, I was told my esophagus was VERY dilated and Dr. Aceves mentioned that again to me post-op. Maybe you didn't have a lot of swelling. Also, you don't have a lot of weight to lose so that could be a factor.
  8. I had my first "hard" protein today. I made chicken cutlets with ziti and tomato sauce. Knowing I needed protein first, I decided to go for the chicken. After eating 1/3 of the chicken and 2 ziti (yes, only 2), I was stuffed. I'm noticing that I get the hiccups when I'm full. If I take "one more bite" I feel like I'm going to be sick. This is definitely a learning experience.
  9. I can eat MUCH less but, after 30 days post-op, have no food restrictions and don't have to worry about problem foods.
  10. No, you don't have to wait on clears. I'm amazed you're hungry! LOL. I haven't experienced hunger since surgery. You must heal quickly! Bravo!
  11. You hadn't had the surgery yet so you would not have gotten one. Email them if you want one to fill out.
  12. Mine are the same as WASAs. They are smaller than the band scars and healed quickly.
  13. Your wife will do great and I look forward to following her progress.
  14. I get rigors (shaking chills) and profound nausea from anesthesia. It's important to discuss this with the anesthesiologist. They gave me something so that I had NO nausea and handled the rigors as soon as they started. I had no pain the day or night of surgery and only asked for pain medication once. My throat was not sore and the gas pains only started for me the day I left. A heating pad to the shoulder and moving as much as possible ends that problem in about a day or so.
  15. I don't think chocolate cravings ever go away. One ounce of dark chocolate is considered healthy! LOL.
  16. The tiredness might be due to anemia or abnormal thyroid values. Simple blood tests will give you the answers.
  17. You can have soups, mashed potatoes, puddings, chicken salad, tuna salad, cottage cheese, yogurt, meatballs, pasta, etc. You can't have hard protein like a steak or chicken breast or pork chop.
  18. On May 2, I was allowed to go back to an unrestricted diet and eats solids. I am still surprised at how little I am eating and at how much I need to chew food in order to get it down. This is something I never had to do with the band as food easily went down with that. All my gherlin must have been cut out because I never feel hungry and I notice that I get the hiccups when my stomach is full. It takes just a small amount of food for me to feel full and I'm in no hurry to go back to solids.
  19. In the pre-op talk Dr. Aceves said no carbonated drinks should be a rule.
  20. Your story is a nightmare and I'm so sorry for all you went through. I promise, the sleeve is going to be so much better for you.
  21. Use anti-bacterial soap and shower once a day. Do not soak the site. Apply a new gauze or bandaide after the shower... no antibiotic cream on the bandaide. Change the dressing/bandaide as necessary during the day. Welcome Home! I'm glad you're feeling well.
  22. It's important to research how many procedures the surgeon has done, the complication rate, and the checks for leakage done. Price alone should never be the deciding factor. Good luck to you all.
  23. Please remember that this is a support forum. People who are paid by surgeons for the purpose of getting free advertisement are banned. If your surgeon wants to advertise, he can contact the owner of this site (Alex) and pay the rates other surgeons do. I wish you good luck on your surgery and caution you to stick to the rules of the forum Thank you,
  24. Mexacali is less than a mile or so over the border from California. I can attest to the fact that Daisy, Susan, WASA, Mac, myself, and others do NOT work for Dr. Aceves. I don't even list his name in my signature. The bottom line is, it's your body and your husband supports you. How did your parents find out? Listen to your gut.
  25. That's interesting about they make garments differently based on size. I am still wearing the same clothes I did the day I had the revision surgery but they are VERY loose. The tops I can get away with a little longer but the dress slacks will need to go after another 10 pounds is gone.
