  2. OOooohhh let us know how she responds!! LOL Kat
  3. My DH come home from work not long ago, and he was laughing when he walked in...I thought he was on the phone. He kept trying to tell me what was so funny, but he would just roar with laughter. There is this guy he works with that is so vain, he is always checking himself out in the chrome tools! He did the same thing, thought his beard was too gray for his hair, so he used dye on it. Rick said it was totally obvious--and they of course being guys ragged on him over it. He copped to it, saying it would lighten as it wore. He was still hot! So I guess he went to the drinking fountain, and when he stood up he was dripping black onto his coveralls! He was sooooo mad over the ribbing he was getting he marched himself across the road to the Walgreens and bought a razor, come back to the shop---and proceeded to shave----and under it all, his face was still dyed. My husband was crying he was laughing so hard telling me this. Now everytime I see the guy, I want to mention it---he has been a jerk to me---I so badly want to return the favor!!! I am loving these stories!! What an uplift to the day!! Thanks!!! Kat

I was wondering the same thing. I attended a seminar type of presentation when in college, and one of the things they mentioned were with certain drug allergies you were not considered a candidate. My allergy to pennicillen knocked me out without ever looking any further. The guy I went to it with was allergic to the tetanus vaccine---knocked him out as well. I think it would be an awesome learning experience, life experience! I know in my heart of hearts now looking back, it would have been hell for me! I am spoiled! And I kinda like it that way!!! LOL Your band and possible issues with it is something to consider. An unfill wouldn't just be around the corner. Be worse than me living in NM!!!! Keep us posted Lauren! Kat
  5. LMAO---my nephew shaved his eyebrows once when he was about 8. Becky kept asking him what was wrong, he mumbled nuthin'.....We are driving down the road, when she looked back at him in the rearview mirror--OMG I thought we were all done for she screams his FULL name....What the Hell happen to your eyebrows?! I thought we would all die laughing. This was hilarious with a kid who was curious about the razor--I can only imagine the hilarity with a full grown man----and the stories he come up with to cover his oops!!! LOVE IT!!!!!! Kat
  6. My DH was single for a few years before we married (following his divorce) and he got in the fast food habit. It has been a hard thing to break!! Lots of years have passed now, and still to this day I can ask him what he wants for dinner, and he will think a minute and say "Let's just go grab a Big Mac" the BEST thing I have ever done to break that habit is get banded!!!! Now he will say it, immediately followed by "Oh yeah we can't do that!" He gets his fix at lunch now!!! Or waits til his days off and plays the spoiling Grandpa---like it is such a hardship for him to take the kids to Mickey D's!! Kat
  7. Well, in your current situation, I think the main thing to concentrate on with the PS is his overall abilities, and his record as far as infection etc goes. I am not meaning this to sound horribly mean----I truly don't---I said something very similar to my DH last night concerning myself. Right now things are not pretty......so to get the reversal done, hernias repaired and the excess skin removed is going to be a massive improvement, even if it does not leave you looking like a bathing suit model. My DH said something about some before and afters on here---I told him mine might look nothing like that, but if he can love me with this hanging bag of skin, whatever the PS does will be an improvement! I understand the multiple surgeries would reduce your infection risk. Will he be talking to the PS as well as you? Seems they are more willing to do the wait and see standby when ask by another Dr!!! How exciting! You are almost half of what your high weight was! I can imagine that finishing the weight loss with this huge life changing surgery is like the cherry on top!!! Congrats and good luck to you, I will follow your story to see how it develops! Best of luck! Kat
  8. Yep I use gloves, I still end up with seeds all over the kitchen--and the phone always rings!!! We put up (freeze) in the neighborhood of 5 bushels of green chile each year---and I use them for that too---I learned the hard way with chilies!!! I had a friend who unknown to her, her DH had nachos at work, and was picking off the jalapenos and eating them, he touched her later that night, and lit her on fire!!! She said he never made her so hot and turned her so totally off at once before!!! I always think of that, and reach for the gloves!!! Kat
  9. Terry--I love you! I do think it is allergy related--and possibly something to do with my new prescription on my glasses. I have been thinking, I don't remember complaining much about my head hurting til I got the new glasses---which happened to be about the time my tooth broke. Remember I was going to 20 different Dr.'s!! So......my glasses are gone! I am using my old readers, seeing if it helps at all. I love it---if I am going to lose money I KNOW you are right!! LOL!! Kat
  10. Wow! I can see where the carbonation might be hard on the stomach lining--but how does it corrode the band? It shouldn't even come in contact with the band. The band is on the outside of the stomach. If carbonated drinks sit in your pouch that long, I would think you are waaaaay too tight. This confuses me......any more info on it??? Kat
  11. Can you like suggest a brand of $50 shampoo for me to buy? Does it like, you know, already have the like protein in it? LMAO-----I love your responses Wheets!!!! We do the jalapenos with cream cheese and bacon---I had leftovers for lunch!!!! We also stuff them with like a meatloaf mix and cook them or grill them either one. I loooove jalapenos!!! Wait for it....here it comes.....BUT I HATE cleaning and prepping them~~~~~ Kat
  12. Well as soon as my scan results come in, I am in business---I got my letter of approval today in the mail! I need my hair cut desperately Judy!! Thinking of some highlights-----not too sure. It would be easier for the summer not to mess with it!! I wear it long---but that is easiest for me, I can whip it into a ponytail for motorcycle rides....and when we fingerpaint, that kind of thing. I went with a shorter cut, and hated it--loved the way it looked, but it was so inconvenient. I think when I cut it, I will end up cutting it MUCH shorter---but the mid length doesn't work for me at all! Kinsey has gone home for the day----I should get busy-----I cut some veggies, going to make some kebabs for dinner---easy way to grill chicken!!! These are the chicken tenders, so basic grilling doesn't work, but these do!!! I need some mushrooms, everything else is ready. Think when I go get the mushrooms I will grab a small zuchini to grill with it and call it dinner! I got the things I ordered for all you girls~~~~~this is not something fancy---just fun! Terry--if I were to mail this box to you would you have room to bring it with you? I might have room in the suitcase. Everything depends on everything else!!! If I don't have surgery before the trip, I will just take a bigger suitcase. And my letter does not give me a time line, so it will likely be as soon as I return. But if I should get it done before---I won't be able to lift much so will have to take a smaller bag.... Will let you know. Ok, guess I will go to the store. Y'all take care--BBL~~ Kat
  13. Pix----that complaint won't work----many bandsters are worrying about losing hair--so styling is not something you can complain about!!! LMAO----- I did both! My hair fell out horribly, and I complained about what little I had left---I am surprised it didn't fall out just to show me!!! Kat
  14. I have read a lot recently about bands seeming tighter after a long stretch with them. It may be nothing more than needing some saline removed in a slight unfill. There should be no reason to be unable to keep liquids down. I agree with LJM, it is time to contact the Dr. and have yourself checked out! You have lost a great deal of weight.....things might have slipped a bit, and an unfill could correct that possibly. Hope you get some answers. Let us know what you find out! Welcome to LBT! Kat
  15. Our local library lends out many things besides books----DVD's among them, and they have a pretty good variety of work out DVD's. It would allow you to try one for a week or so, see if it holds interest or is in the right level of ability for you---without spending anything. They also lend books on CD. I listen to the books as I work out. I am a reader, and when I get hooked on a book, I want to finish it. Listening to them on CD (or I have loaded some onto our Ipod) keeps me on the elliptical just a bit longer, or keeps me out walking for another 15 minutes or so. Maybe you could listen and take a walk during your lunch break---get some moving in then..... Good Luck, and congrats on the great beginning!! Kat
  16. Once you are past your post op diet, you will find things through trial and error as was said that you can manage at most places. I can eat pretty much anything---and I do, I just eat soooo much less it is unreal!!! Value meals are no more! A shared kids meal with my granddaughter is much more likely!! In the early stages, I stuck to Taco Bell so I could get refried beans---they were my favorite!!! Then Wendy's for the chili. Now I can eat the burgers, nd I can eat chicken without issue. I try to keep it within reason, and roll with it! Part of the reason you are getting this band I bet is to enjoy the boys more....so do as someone said, get the food, hit the park, and let the enjoying begin!!! Don't put it off til you are in perfect shape---let them help you get there, and have some fun doing it! Good Luck on your approval!! And welcome to LBT!! Kat
  17. Sounds to me as though the future roomate is the one that is currently concerning you. I DO believe hiding it would be difficult at this point since it is something you already discussed, and know her to be opinionated about. Personally from here on out whenever the subject comes up, I would simply say "I prefer not to discuss that with you, we obviously feel very differently about it" and go on. After the surgery, if she asks you point blank, tell her again "that is something I refuse to talk about with you". Keep in mind though, that if she feels differently about this than you do----she can and may take sharing your news into her own hands, and might even consiously or sunconciously sabotage you. Is her weight an issue? Is her reaction perhaps stirred by some jealousy? Does she have concerns over stories she has heard? Roommates can be extremely difficult, or they can be awesome relationships.....it woul dbe advantageous to you in MANY aspects to try to work this into a good relationship. Since you have discussed it already----maybe invite her to a seminar with you--let her learn, make her a part of it. If you are wanting to keep in a secret--having the roommate on your side is a must!!! She WILL see you eat different. She WILL notice your lifestyle change some. This is going to be hard to hide from her....think long and hard about what kind of living conditions you want.....and what you are willing to deal with to get that. Good Luck. Kat
  18. Morning~ Thanks for all the well wishes. I am feeling confident today---had a rough go for awhile yesterday....kind of my "why me?" moment! But today I am ok. I knew without a doubt these tumors would not change----I am not going to veer away from those thoughts!!! It is stress and allergies. My eyes feel too dry and itchy too! Kinsey is asleep---think I will join her. BBL~~ Kat
  19. Tell 'em that's the new style.....belly buttons with beards!!!! Sorry! Guess there was an advantage to all that hair loss besides not having to shave my legs anymore!! Kat
  20. Ain't nuthin' about ranch life easy, or clean....if it isn't covered in cow crap, it has grease on it----at least here it seems that way!!! But I don't do anywhere near that much laundry!!!! My DH keeps coveralls to put on when he hits the fields.....gotta remember to tell him thanks!!! Kat
  21. I had uterine cancer of the endometrial lining. I currently have 2 remaining tumors in my body--1 in my fibula (shin bone) and one in the mastoid ( a bony like gland just below and behind your ear). I had a bone scan done today to check the possible growth factor in the mastoid tumor. Hoping to get good news. My 5 year mark will be up in September. Good Luck with your band--mine has made an amazing difference in my life. I know I am in much better health if ever I have to face anything like it again. Kat
  22. Wow when it rains it pours! Looks like my PS may be on hold too. Myhead began throbbing again. The same headache I had prior to my dental surgery. It is always there, just behind the scenes, and sometimes it just hits me, almost makes me sick at my stomach. Rick woke me up because I was moaning. So I went to the Dr. today. Expecting the usual this time of year Dx of allergies. Instead he sent me for my bone scan early. He is concerned the tumor in my mastoid might be causing pressure or growing. It will take a couple of days for the results of course. Rick is freaking out. I am just depressed. I don't want that to be my problem, I don't want it operated on, I don't want my head shaved, I don't want any of it. I want to go to Texas, I want to have my belly donated to the landfill. It may be wishful thinking....but the pain is not in the area the tumor is. I know nerves react totally different, but.....I am seriously bumming. I waited a loooooong time for this! I keep thinking, it is my own fault for being so vain! I had been thinking, my class reunion is this summer (30) but it is the same weekend my friend is getting married! So......what should we do. Maybe sit at home!!! Pathetic! I am whining. If they do operate on it, they will likely do as before and just shave the lower portion of my head on the side of the tumor. Keep your fingers crossed and prayers going. My MIL tells me, "well you probably caught yours sooner than Ron did" Ron is my BIL who died of brain cancer. The woman sure knew how to cheer me up today!!! LOL I think you must store your tact in your jaw bone, and as her teeth have fallen out----it has too!!! Or maybe it is stored in the knee caps, and when they replaced her knees, they took hers!!! LOL Judy, Ethan is adorable. Looks like he and Kinsey could have a heyday! Jane---I think your night sounds like a riot!!! Well....I needed food----so I cooked some stuffed jalapenos!!! They are not too bad for me----and they taste good! I used to put away a dozen I bet---now 2 is my limit. But I enjoy those 2! Going to grill burgers out---fancy feast eh?? I think I heard House comes back on tonight! Will check in later....... Kat
  23. Jane---does Biolage still make their leave in conditioner??? If so would you price it out for me? Pretty pretty please??? Kat
  24. I have decided my DH and I are either excessively clean, or excessively dirty---I don't know which! But the amount of laundry we generate is ridiculous!!!!!!! Kat
  25. Sue---my surgeon said that to do one without the other, left people so unhappy, he does it as part of the procedure most of the time now. He said some minor lipo, then simple skin manipulation of the mons would do it for me. Warning this might well be TMI----but following my chemo, not a lot of pubic hair regrew--so he said my pubic hair line being nonexistant will allow him to make a smooth transition without much problem. He too discouraged one without the other. He said we might not notice the bulge of it now, being hid under the belly---but after it is gone, if they do not do the mons lift, it is highly noticable, in cases like mine anyway. So it is getting done as well. Mine is going to just be hip bone to hip bone he is not extending it. My hips, my back, and my butt are all in fair shape for what hell I have put them through!!! I do not have love handles, or muffin top problems--------just a hanging belly. Right now it is a huge shock that I don't just fall on my face and lie there, all my weight is in the boobs and belly!!!!! Kat
