I am wondering if there is anyone else from the central Louisiana area. I am from Alexandria. I am considering going to Mexico to have Lapband- my insurance won't cover any weight loss surgery- thank you state of Louisiana. I would love to hear from anyone around here!!!

Hi, I am Kerri, I live here in Alexandria also. I was recently banded and are looking for a fill doctor near here. Who does yours? I could get them done for free at my doctor in Mexico, but that is not an option due to cost. Thanks for any help.

I need help decideing between Dr. Huacuz, Dr. Guillermo Alvarez or the Doctors at Obesity Goodbye in Mexico. I have insurace here in the US but it doesn't cover weightloss sugery. I have been doing research since October of 09 and can't decide between the 3. I would love to know if you have used any of these doctors and the results. Or any suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated. -

My decision has been made. I will go to Dr. Ortiz on April 3rd for my lapband. I can't wait!!! -

Thanks for the info. I have done more reserch and I am leaning more towards Dr. Oritz. I have read so much great things about him. He does cost alittle more but it makes me more at ease to know he has so much experiance. Thanks agian.
How much weight have you lost and how has your recovery been?

I am hopefully going to be banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico on April 3rd!!! I am self pay so income taxes have alot to do with it, but I also have to wait for spring break . I would love to know anyone else who maybe takeing a trip to him. To make it even sweeter my birthday is in April and I will be turning 30 and starting a new life at the same time.

I was digging around on here and found a posting. I just wanted to say that you are so pretty. I don't want to you think of me as some freak. I am a mom of 4 girls and have been obese for about 10 years. Did you have lapband? When and how much have you lost?

That is around the time that I plann on going on April 3rd. My collage will be out on break the following week. Giveing me time to heal before returning to normal life. Maybe we could plann together. I did find a doctor in Texas for 9900. I am debateing between the mexico and texas. I don't know!!!

Yes it is defiantly the price. The cheepest I found in Louisiana is 13000. I would love to find a doctor within driveing distance that is reasonably priced. Dallas is about 6 hours from here. Give me more info, Please. -
Hi, I see that you are considering going to Mexico for surgery. I have been reserching this since October of last year. My insurace won't pay for it. Where are you from? I am from Louisiana. I found a surgin just over the Mexico border and he charges 6900. I hope to go in April. I would love to hear back from you.

I am so glad that there are other people that are just as unsure as I am. I attended a seminar last week and would really like to have the procedure done. I will find out this week if insurace will cover it. The thing that worries me the most is the post op diet. I really love food and here in Louisiana- food is a huge part of our life. Will I still get to eat some of the foods that I love- like rice and bread?
