  1. Add me to the list. I had my surgery on 9/22. Doing fine. Down 14 lbs. Not hungry. Beginning to exercise regularly.
  2. Gail, this is really encouraging for those of us that are just facing this. I didn't have nearly as many problems, or meds as you...so, I'm really hoping to feel younger, more mobile, and get healthy forwhat will hopefully be a longer life!
  3. Great to know there are other older bandsters. I just had my surgery on 9/22/08. I'm on liquids (cream soups, shakes, cream of wheat, boullion, etc) and will be for four weeks. I've already lost 14 pounds, so that's encouraging.
  4. I'm the same no. of days post-op, but I was told only liquids like cream soups, bouillion, protein shakes, cream of wheat, etc. for four weeks, then start with pureed on the fifth week. I'm not hungry, but I hunger for the taste of some foods. I made a stir-fry for my foster kids and delighted lapping up some of the sauce I had made with bouillion and soy. It had the taste of the veggies and chicken in it. I would check with your doctor about eating the mushy foods like potatoes, etc.--now. My nutritionist even discouraged me for adding mashed potatoes to my diet later. You are so restricted that to get the protein in, you can't fill up on potatoes and less nutritrious foods just because they are easy to eat.
  5. Hello all...one week away and doing OK. Found explanations for some symptoms at this site and joined...then found there is a group for 9/22 surgeries...unbelieveable.
  6. We had surgery the same day!...and I've had the pain, too...I called the nurse and she explained. Then I got diarrhea...this time I went online and found this is typical at this time, through a post from this site. Because it was so helpful. I joined the talk site. I think we are at a good place to find answers and support.
