August Surgery buddies
I need to get back on working out; I have been slacking. I'm doing okay food wise though so that's good. I just got my bloodwork done so I'm waiting to hear back on how all my levels are since surgery. I had my first cookie and first small glass of wine this week at a baby shower; it was nice to feel more normal again, but also not go crazy.

Posture
There is a new sports bra (that Taylor Swift made viral) that is supposed to help with posture. I am thinking about getting one when I go into maintenance phase. They are expensive so I don't want to buy on when I'm still losing. I have terrible posture, both from being overweight and also being a reader, so I look into it a lot. There is also a device that you stick on your back and it vibrates when you need to sit up straight; I have thought about getting that one too. https://forme.science/collections/women

Flying 7 weeks post Op
I would say bring some compression socks, drink lots of water and luckily they do sell protein drinks in the airport so that's helpful, if you need something. I flew home from surgery 3 days after; it was only a 2-3 hour flight, but it wasn't terrible. Bring a refillable bottle with you because there are usually water fountains/water bottle fill up stations all over. I would think you are in the soft foods phase of eating by now, so I would assume you could eat a few things at Thanksgiving like mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. You might even be able to tolerate turkey if you chew it well; just remember small portions.

I didn’t get an after picture. I ate two Goyzas and one bun. The husband ate ramen and the other 3 Goyzas.

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
I used to sleep in the fetal position, but now I Jack knife because it’s more comfy even though it’s a little like a pretzel.

Food Before and After Photos
Dinner tonight!! Butter chicken and a vegetable samosa. First picture is before dinner, then after dinner; the third is after second dinner. WLS has turned me into a hobbit. I eat breakfast, second breakfast, elevensies, lunch, dinner, second dinner. I feel like I eat every 2 hours and all the time.

I bought some size 20 pants before my surgery to get me through until I could fit back into my 18s and I couldn't wear them because they were too small. They fit now that I have lost 30 lbs, but my 18s are now too big. Sizing is just funky and terrible! Don't be discouraged!

The New Found MALE GAZE! I'm Pissed ???
I have never met a Canadian that I didn't like! I'm sure there are jerks there somewhere, but every Canadian I have met has been sunshine and rainbows! Now about this male gaze... I'm only 30 lbs down so far, but I already feel better about how my clothes fit and carry myself in a more confident manner. My husband said I looked "svelte" in my workout clothes the other day. Hahahaha I can't wait to lose more but even now I'm happier with myself and it shows in my relationship and in the bedroom. I don't think I have seen much change yet in the world outside of my house. It a double edge sword; its nice to be noticed and appreciated, but it sucks to feel unsafe or leered at.

That's really great! I feel like I was in a funk last week and really struggled with motivation to do anything, so I pretty much just worked and blobbed at home. Today is a new week though and maybe I can steal some of your motivation to get up and move my body!

@ShoppGirl how did all your medical stuff go? Are you doing okay? @Justarwaxx I have heard periods get worse when your losing weight because so much estrogen is stored in fat, so when you lose fat you have more estrogen in your body, which in turn makes you cramp more and your flow worse. That has been my experience so far. I was hoping I would have lighter periods since I'm not intaking as many calories.

A Thread Dedicated to Cottage Cheese ?? Omg?
I will say that not all brands are created equal! I usually love Target brand things but there cottage cheese is way to tangy. If you give it another shot, buy the name brand ones, they are usually better. Though Kroger brand is pretty good.

Food Before and After Photos
My husband grew up with a mom who made him take "no thank you" bites; he is still pretty picky, but he at least had to try it before he said "No thanks. I don't like it" with all his food. It so smart because sometimes kids think they don't like something until they try it, but forcing a kid to eat is never the right way. So good job being a great mom @Starwarsandcupcakes

A Thread Dedicated to Cottage Cheese ?? Omg?
Same! I love cottage cheese and have been eating it since I was a kid. Growing up cottage cheese and canned pears were my jam! Since surgery, I have eaten a lot of cottage cheese. I mostly eat it by itself as a snack. I haven't eaten a lot of fruit yet but will sometimes eat some frozen blueberries with it. I don't really cook with it so I cant really help with that. I don't love plain Greek yogurt so I would rather put cottage cheese in anything that calls for that.

We are here to help support you to continue your good routines after your tests! Just let us know how you're doing. Right now it sounds like you are making amazing choices and have great routines, so it sounds like your brain is not going to let you just switch that off. I hope your tests go smoothly and everything is okay.

Mindful eating?
Same. I'm not great at eating slowly even after surgery. It takes 20-30 minutes for me to eat, but its supposed to take more like 45. I enjoy playing a phone game or reading while I'm eating to slow me down. I will say I make much more of an effort to chew my food a lot more and this has helped me slow down a lot (it has also pretty much turned me off eating plain deli meat, because the texture gets too gross when over chewed). Some times I will even step away from the table/meal for a while and then come back if I am still hungry. Just adding my 2 cents, but I think you have a lot of good information to help you @Neostarwcc I'm going to try to incorporate more of these myself.

Food Before and After Photos
Sadly once I got heavier/bigger, I was told it was fine not to eat everything on my plate. But the damage was done. Definitely a struggle but I’m trying to be better about it.

Food Before and After Photos
Did anyone else grow up with parents who told you to clean your plate/not waste food?!?! I still really struggle with this. I dislike when I portion out food and then feel like I can't finish it, especially if I have already logged it in my app. I definitely have to fight with my brain to just put it in the fridge and finish it later, if I get hungry. I actually think eating out helps with this because I know I'm going to not finish a whole plate or I share with my husband and he will finish it.
