I had my Gall bladder surgery. It was alot easier than I was expecting. I and 4 days out have have not taken anything for pain all day. The first day was the worst. I was not in pain on the inside, But there was a burning on the skin of one of my holes. I took a ton of meds waiting for it to go away, finally around 12:00 am I passed out. I was out of it for hours, then woke up to take more pain meds, and back to bed. I think my band might be easier because the day of this surgery TOM came and that sucked. I was crampy all over, although I was happy to be able to sleep on my stomach even on the first night home. I am sitting here thinking damn, I only have 21 days till my band. I just can't wait. I have had so many last suppers it is sad. This past weekend we went to hunans for sushi. YUM.. it was Kenny's last supper because he finally got approved yesterday. But I celebrated too. lol Everyone I see, I think in my head I wonder if I can get that small? I hope my ass will look like that. If I work out like crazy will my arms still flap? lol I know its stupid but it gives me something to think about other than food. I was talking to my mom the other day and told her I was scared that I was going to morn my food. I have relied on it for so much, and through so many hard times. What am I going to do.. She said go shoping for smaller cloths. I liked that idea....

  3. I have only passed out twice in my life. Once was while I was doing something stupid (piercing) and once while in a doctors office having blood taken. It was hot, and my three kids were driving me crazy in that little room. I am the person that voluntered to be the pin cushion in my nursing Iv class so needles are not my problem. It was just something that happens sometimes..
  4. meow, Cokes are one of the hardest things for my DH to give up also. He did tell me he felt like crap for the first few days but then You will soon feel normal again.. just don't start them back up. good luck...
  5. My DH also has high blood pressure and blood sugar. He is on 150.00 of meds a month so we need him to get this band. He was like heck no when I mentioned I wanted it. Then he started reading this board and it changed his mind. I did nothing... So now we will both be banded in 2 months or so... hehe I am so freaken happy....
  6. way to go!!! awsome.. thanks for sharing in your journey... :clap2:
  7. I am so Happy, My hubby was just approved today!!! YEAH... He is happy too, He will be about 1 month behind me but hopfully he won't need his GB out too. He Joined this board and has been "lurking" alot at work.. If he ever post and yall see him say hi. His name is KenDADTo3..
  8. Hi Everyone, I am also trying to squeeze my way in the TWO"S. I am setting a goal to be in the two's before my band surgery on the 25th of july? I am at 309 now so I have 10 lbs to lose in three weeks. It going to be close, but I know I can do it if I get off my ARSE and do some workouts. Lets DO THIS!!!! :clap2:
  9. Hi all, Today is day three after my GB removal, and I feel so great. (well not great but really good considering I just had surgery) I am so amazed at how quick lap procedures heal. I was planning on feeling like I did after my c-sections, but I have been plesently suprised. We are packing up and heading out to see family about 2 1/2 hours away. I am planning on sleeping the whole way. I am not looking forward to the drive but I haven't seen this side of my family in over a year, and this will be the last time I can head down there because I start school in aug. I am counting down the days till July 25th. I can't wait to get my band.... Well I have to go get ready.. Yall have a GREAT july 4th weekend....
  10. Good Luck on your surgery... Mine is not far behind yours on the 25th. I just had my Gall bladder removed two days ago so I am in the healing mode.. I can't wait to get this done, and the surgery I just had is said to very simular to the lap band procedure. I must say its alot easier than I expected. Well good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing...
  11. Sorry to be so blunt... Ok the question you need to ask your self is DO YOU WANT THE BAND? or do you want the food and wine? If you go and gain I can bet your doc turns you down or put you on a diet till you lose a specfiic weight amount? I know most of us have given up alot to get the band. I canceled my vacation for this summer,( I have been in school full time for the last 1 1/2 years, then was prego the both the 2 years before) so I REALLY wanted to go on this vacation... But I wanted the BAND more.... Go to you resort, have a blast! Have ONE night(within the 1st few days your there) and drink your heart out. Then the next day relax and recoup. then for the rest of the time Swim, dance, swim, dance, then swim and dance again... Watch what you eat, you can still enjoy yourself with out making bad choices.. If this is as nice as you say even their healthy stuff will probley taist devine. Just decide BEFORE you go that you are going to be good.... And when you get back, and get your BAND IT WILL BE WORTH IT>>> Good luck
  12. I had my surgery and it went great. The only problem I am having is that one of the small holes(incisions) is burning like FIRE, I am not in pain anywhere else but this is burning so bad I can't go to sleep. I am so tired, I have taken 3 moraphin pills and two benadril (not all at once). I called the doc to see if he could call in stronger meds but he is in surgery and not sure when he will get out. and even then its too late to get a pain meds scrip tonight because it has to be hand writen, not called in. I was not expecting this, with all three of my c-sections I never took any of the meds they gave me, I usually have a very high tollerence for pain, but this burning is for the birds.... I hope I feel better tomorrow... talk to you guys in the morning.... thanks for the prayers...
  13. Hi all I am going in for surgery in the morning to have my GALL BLADDER removed. I am getting so nervous.. I hate being put under... And IV suck! oh well just glad I don't have to spend the night unless there are problems... I will post when I get home tomorrow...
  14. hi donna, I am so glad you are doing better and back on track. This board is so awsome. I am scheduled to get my band on july 25th, I can't wait!!! have some fun and check out the baord...
  15. WOW! that was right on the money!!! so here you AMEN!!!!
  16. As soon as I decided to do the band in dec of 05. I made it my goal to quit by January 06. I did it and man I feel so much better. I had tried many times to fully quit but always picked them back up. For a year or more I kept saying this is the last pack I am buying, then I would make sure I smoked the WHOLE pack and a friend would have some and it was just a cycle. I even stoped for 2 1/2 years while I was prego with my dd and nursing her but as soon as she was done nursing I picked them back up. Did the same thing with both me sons. I have always loved to smoke. Once my dd noticed I was not smoking(about three weeks after I quit) she said "mommy I'm glad you don't smoke anymore daddy said it was going to make you sick) I told her I know and thet I will never smoke again. Them she said "PROMISE?" so I have promised her I will not pick one up again and its a promise I plan on keeping... I know its hard, it was one of the hardest things for me to do. But you are getting the band to be healthier.... Alow your lungs to be healthy too.... good luck!!!
  17. So sorry, I must have misunderstood I was NOT trying to put any words in your mouth.(I swear) lol I Just read that different... Wheetsin I just love your debate threads, but dang they are so addicting... lol Thanks

sherri, You poor thing.. My pain is gone at this point, I am just hoping it stays gone. The docs said i could have problems in the future, and I could have no problems, It a coin toss... I hope you get to feeling better. and good luck on your surgery I will be 15 days behind you... AHHHH I am so excited!!!!
  19. Thanks everyone..... I am doing good and have lost three lbs. this week. :clap2: I am not on any pre-op diet, I just wanted to do it just because? :faint: I can't wait till I am forced to make the right decisions.... lol
  20. You meet the BMI requirements for MOST ins. companies. Yours is at 42.6. Mine is 40.2 and I qualified and am having surgery of the 25th of july. I also have no comortalites but I know if I keep going in the same direction I will have problems and soon. !st just make sure that weight lose is not written out of your policy. you can do that by calling your ins. company, then to be on the safe side call the HR of the company that provides you with the ins. After that most docs. will tell you what you need to get approved. THere are ALOt of hoops to jump through to get approved. We have all done it and yes it gets old but when you are approved it will be worth it. Keep us posted and get used to this site it will give you tons of great info.... Good luck
  21. New bander, hi, I am also scheduled for surgery in july on the 25th. I have thought many times about backing out, but then thinking about my life without the band. I have to go for it!!! It is scary, but it will be worth it in the end... Good luck..

I am having such a hard time right now dealing with my BF. We have just grown apart, and I am so lonly. She has been the person I told everything to, I relyed on her for support and a shoulder to cry on. We went from talking four to five times a day to now talking maybe two or three times a week. I am fine with the fact her and I are not being so close because she has changed in a way that I don't care to be around, but its hard for me because I don't feel like I have anyone to cry on. She is now drinking on a daily basis, and has changed her attitude about how a lady should act. I don't see anything wrong with drinking a beer here and there, but damn, when you have three kids and you have a get together and get tore up in front of the kids, thats just sad. I am scared for her, her father is a drunk and she is turning into him. (I can't believe I just said that) Ok, on to a better subject, I am so excited about my band. I have 1 month to wait. I feel like my life is fixen to start, I did get my bike out and rode around the block 4 times. I was so proud of myself, but dang I was hurting. My legs felt like mush after all the hills that are in my neighborhood. But I did it, I need to ride around the block and check the distance in my car. Today I am doing the cross trainer in my room. I am shooting for one hour but we will see how long my legs hold out....

  24. NOT UPSET!! Wheetsin, I do disagree with the mentality that I am fat because I want to be. I am fat because I have an addiction. Just as a drug addicted person, and some one who depends on a beer. I depend on food. My best friend in the world is food. When I am happy ,I eat. When I am sad, I eat. When I am mad, I eat. It is an addiction that I have tried hundreds of time to break.. Everyone, I also do not offer any appoligies for gaining weight to get the band. I have been a hard working person for 20 years. I have paid my ins. out of my check for years..... With the amount I have paid them I could have paid for my surgery time and time again. If the ins. companies can trash all claims on the third friday of the month, (they are not being honest) why should I feel bad about gaining the weight back, that I had just lost on my own, To get something I needed to save my life. I am not one who put on a few lbs. after my babies. I have struggled my entire life being fat. I think everyone on this board knows what it is like to hate being fat. And scared you are going to NEVER lose weight. My doctor wanted me to have the surgery, I wanted to have the surgery, Why should someone who has never known me, and seen my struggles, decide my fate ,with a difference of a few lbs. I think this also needs to be thought about. When RNY first came out. They had many stipulations on the surgery. Most people were self pay because the ins companies would not cover it. NOW all ins. companies cover it. Your employee may write it out of the policy, but all ins. carriers now cover RNY. I think in the next 5 years all ins. companies will cover the lap band, its just something they have to warm up to. For anyone who judges me, Please, I sleep fine with my decision. Don't throw stones, if you live in a glass house. (i think it goes something like that) lol the point I am trying to make is that, unless you are perfect and have NEVER done anything wrong, you can't judge me.
