  1. Actually I was reading yours a little while ago! And I have started to read one other the other day. I'll have to check more out. Not much longer now!! Only 4 days till we get banded!
  2. OMG! Very small world! I grew up in Coram. I was born at St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson. I also lived in Florida for 5 years I've been back here for almost 12 years. I lived in Orlando and I miss the warm Florida weather  Yes, we'll def have to meet up! My husband and I moved to Yaphank this past August. I like it. It's pretty quiet but there's no 7-11! lol Oh! My cousin, who lives in Victoria B.C. was banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico in August. Is that who your surgeon is?
  3. If you vote then click on return to poll and then clear the cookies from your computer you can vote numerous times! :frown:
  4. I was told to do a 1 week pre-op diet but I decided on my own to do 2 weeks. If you can buy Optifast 800 shakes somewhere I would do those. You can have 5 a day so you're able to space them out more and if need be you can add an extra one if you really need it and they're pretty good! My fave is the chocolate. It tastes like Nestle Quik. Incidentally, Nestle is the one who makes Optifast. It's rough the first 2 or 3 days but after that it gets much much easier. You get used to not eating. I've lost probably about 11 or twelve pounds since March 10th. I havent weighed myself in a couple days so I'm not sure. I think that knowing Im doing this so my surgery will hopefully be less complicated makes it that much easier for me to not complain about the liquid diet and stay true to it. Surprisingly to the people who know me, I haven't complained once! Good luck! Just remember. It's worth it!
  5. I voted a few times for you! :frown: Good luck!!
  6. Congrats on being banded! 5 more days for me. Including today. I'm on Long Island, also. Where on Long Island are you?
  7. My biggest fear (aside from the obvious): I'll get sick and my surgery will have to be postponed. :cursing:
  8. That alone is grounds for divorce!!
  9. I had my last meeting with my surgeon yesterday and according to her scale I'm down 10lbs! Today I go for my pre-op testing and tomorrow I get my medical clearance from my PCP. Can you guys believe it?! A week from today! OMG! :scared2: I can't wait to get my Bari-Bear! :cool2:
  10. Thanks for the replies everyone. Hopefully it is just because I'm going through ketosis now...then hopefully when I'm banded I'll be over that or I won't go through it for long. :scared2: Or even better, maybe I don't really smell and I'm just imagining things. :cool2:
  11. This is kind of embarassing... I've never in my life ever had a problem with body odor but it seems now after being on the Optifast shakes for almost a week (thats the only thing that's changed so it's the only thing I can attribute it to) I have been noticing a smell...it's not a strong smell but I notice it. I asked my husband if I smelled bad and he said no. I think he may just be afraid to hurt my feelings. I shower every day. I always wear deodorant and my clothes are only worn once...even my jeans :tongue2: So it can't be that... I dont want to say it smells like a dirty person. What is reminds me of is how my step-brother smells. I think he has a chemical imbalance or something and he has always struggled with b.o. It smells like that only not as strong. Has or did anyone else go through this with their pre-op liquid diet?
  12. I'm not banded yet but I take Flinstones Complete and plan on getting these for calcium: Bariatric Advantage Chewable calcium citrate, 400mg (60 Count)
  13. Hi there :tongue2: Mind if I join in? I'm getting banded in a week and one day. I can't wait!
  14. Good luck tomorrow!
  15. I know this thread is old but I thought I'd say hello to my fellow Long Islanders!
  16. Oh that's rough! I think I'm doing ok on mine because all I drink are the shakes and they're nutritionally complete. Not everything you're eating there has protein in it and protein helps keep you satisfied longer. If you're able to have fat free/low fat soup make sure you get some chicken soup! :crying: Good luck! The 24th will be here before we know it and soon we'll be waiting for when we're able to eat what we were allowed to have on our pre-op diets! You can do it!!! :wink2:
  17. Can't you have low fat/fat free soup? That was included in the pre-op diet my surgeon suggested...I just decided on my own to just do Optifast.
  18. I got a really great scale last night at Bed Bath & Beyond. It's a Weight Watchers glass scale and it not only gives you your weight but it tells you your BMI, body fat %, Water %, and bone mass %. It was 29.95 but I used a 20% coupon and got $6 off. It seems to be pretty accurate. I moved it all over the house and tried it each time and it was only off by a few tenths of a pound depending on where I tried it.
  19. I'm jumping out of my skin already!! I had my hubby take "before" pics of me last night. :blushing:
  20. Same to you!! I am sooooo hungry!! I'm guzzling Water and it's not helping. I can do this, though. I'm hoping it gets easier. My head hurts and I'm so tired  It will be worth it in the end, though.
  21. Same here! Day 2 and Im spacing them out and the water is helping a little if I get any hunger pangs. 12 more days for me, also. March 24th?
  22. I'm getting banded on the 24th, too! I started optifast today. So far so good! Good luck to everyone!
  23. Lots of luck!! I'm nervous and excited about my surgery, also! I'm having surgery on the 24th also!
