  1. @NickelChip I genuinely think that this is one of the most useful and altogether grounding pieces of advice I have had on this site, thank you so much. You are right - it is so easy to think that everything we read on here is the 'norm' but most people tend to come on here to see if the issues they are having are the same as others out there, and you don't really see too many of the successes! ...perhaps there is room for a specific thread just around general successes, or things that are going well right now! I will definitely use that when I next get anxious, because you are right when you say that - not everyone is suffering! And this surgery is common enough that so many people go on to live happy and healthy lives. I think with my Autism I can get really caught up in the small things and I end up going around in circles! But your advice has genuinely brought me back down to Earth.
  2. Oh okay this is really interesting - I never knew that! From how frequently it is spoken about, I genuinely thought it was extremely common! I definitely need to get out of my head about it, it really does make me anxious, especially when I am eating out in restaurants and I can't see the nutritional value of each meal! I will take your advice on and just bite the bullet! Thank you
  3. I think that it is hard not to measure ourselves against other people - but our bodies will ultimately decide the rate in which we lose weight. You have had an amazing loss so far, try to celebrate that and remember you are on the right track x
  4. I am definitely not a melon fan - could perhaps branch out to some watermelon though. Grapes & bananas...I can let them go ? I shall try some strawberries & blueberries I think...I do have avocado on toast sometimes which is nice! Seems like I will be on the berry hype!
  5. I don't think I could deal with the heat there ? Very true - I do think it is sometimes a process of trial and error! I am just nervous about dumping as I haven't experienced it yet! I am very strict on sugars, and I don't eat anything that has over 7g of sugar per 100g/ml. I will definitely try introducing some of these things slowly - preferably whilst I am safe at home ?
  6. Happy Friday everyone! ? Hope we are all doing well! It is bloody hot in the UK today so I am doing my best not to melt in my office ? My bariatric nurse has flat out told me I need to be eating more, and I am really struggling to get on top of this. She tells me to aim for 20 mouthfuls per meal ? I will keep pushing myself by eating more frequently, but I would love to introduce more fruit into my diet. Are there any fruits which I should stay away from to avoid dumping with the bypass? I know berries are like the gold standard, but I am a bit nervous about other fruits! So far I have only had some raspberries and kiwis ?
  7. I love how positive you are - and it sounds like you are on the right track for you, and it is at the right time! Yes, you have a journey ahead of you, but it sounds like you are going to smash it and achieve everything you want with both of these surgeries!
  8. I am! I think it is a mix of hormones, lack of food, and just life ? I hope you are okay!
  9. Thanks lovely! I will do my best! The nurse did mention that I have lost 23.3% of my excess body weight so far, so I am definitely happy about that - I just need to do my measurements again as I haven't done that since pre-LRD!
  10. Good lordddddddddd how do they expect that?! ? I am definitely at the same right now, I am just finding it hard to fit more in! All the while trying to drink enough water ? I am just gonna have to keep trying haha
  11. Getting a tattoo! I have tons already and I am usually fine - but I had to tap out yesterday after 2 hours (which I have never done before) - the pain was unbearable! Probably down to lack of sugar. I have another one tomorrow so I shall get some watermelon! Thank you!
  12. They are yummy! I also am scared of losing hair, but from what I gather there isn't much we can do about preventing it - but it'll only be temporary if it does happen I just take the gummies to make my hair in a better condition as it is now! Definitely! I think some vitamins like B12 & D, the absorption is actually quite poor in tablet form, so the sprays help with that! Oh bless her I know that can happen with some people! So I paid privately in the UK, and it is a 2 year package of aftercare that includes: 1 week post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse 4 week post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse 8 week post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse 12 week post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse nutritional screen blood test 10 days before 6 month appointment 6 month post-op appointment with a dietician 9 month post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse 12 month post-op appointment with a dietician and a follow-up with the psychotherapist 15 month post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse 18 month post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse 21 month post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse 24 month post-op appointment with a bariatric nurse
  13. That is a lovely idea I use: Lactulose: 4-5 5ml spoonfuls per day Dulcoease: 1 5ml spoonful in the evening before bed I have only stopped using these in the last 5 days as my bowel movements are more regular, and to be honest, the dulcoease is very hard hitting, so I wouldn't use that unless you are really struggling with constipation. Just try and eat enough fibre, and drink enough water throughout the day Per day I take: x2 A-Z multivitamin gummies (even though the recommended is always 1, my dietician said bariatric patients should take 2) x1 spray of Vitamin D per day x4 sprays of Vitamin B12 x2 Hairburst gummies
  14. Oh! I forgot to mention! She was a little confused as to who advised my friend on the 900-1000 cals a day, as she said focusing on the numbers right now isn't beneficial - turns out I worried for nothing ?
  15. Hey everyone! I really wanted to reply to everyone individually but I ended up just running out of energy - but reading your replies it made me feel a lot more confident in what I am doing. I appreciate all of your advice. I had my 8 week post-op appointment with my bariatric nurse, and she did say that I am probably eating too little, and this could be being driven by the fact I am not drinking enough. So, goals going forward is to drink more water, and to have breakfast! I feel good overall though, dizziness seems to have stopped ? I just need to find some low sugar snacks to bring with me for my tattoo appointments on Tues & Thurs...hmm...
  16. I think there must be something in the air! My emotions were also a rollercoaster, especially on the weekend where I spent most of it crying ? Really sorry you had such a low one - but can I just say how happy I am for you for your NSVs - you are doing amazingly x
  17. So, I am almost 2 months post-op, and I am due to have my 8 week check-in with a bariatric nurse. My friend also had the same surgery as me, just the day prior, and she has had this check-in already. She was told that at the current stage we are in post-op, we should be eating 900-1000 calories a day!! ?? I genuinely don't think my body is capable! I think I eat around 400-500 on a good day, and I mean a REALLY good day (which is rare), and around 300 on a normal day. Maybe I need to have more protein shakes? I don't know. The prospect of eating that much seems so daunting, and I really get full on what I am already eating!
  18. I am actually quite excited to open it as I can't remember a damn thing I have written ? I read that it is supposed to really help, especially if you are struggling at the 6 month point with not losing enough etc, it kinda reminds you of how you felt before surgery, and why you did it!
  19. Constipation has been THE thing that I have struggled with most post-surgery. Pleaseeee get something to help with this before the symptoms of it start kicking in - I didn't do this and boy did I suffer ? Cleaning the house/flat is definitely a good place to start! I also wrote myself a letter for like 6 months post-op to open so that I could reflect back on how I was feeling, and the hopes that 'old' me had for 'new' me. Best of luck!
  20. I think stalls are pretty inevitable, regardless of intake! I have been eating things like, chicken, shrimp etc and stalls still happen! Your body is just recalibrating
  21. How long post-op are you? I know my surgeon said not to have sex/any sexual activity for around 2-4 weeks! But definitely if it hurts, probably too soon for you!
  22. Oh good lord I know I am going to suffer still ? I need to actually check that...I have a feeling it is self-catering. I will definitely stock up - I have already started making a wishlist on Matalans, though I feel I will have to go in-store and try some stuff on!
  23. I hope you find something you like!
  24. Genuinely Snag Tights are so good! I recommend them so highly! I shall have a look at that - would be nice not to have to rely purely on shorts to prevent chafing!
