Hello From South Florida
Hello Erik, welcome to the site and congrad on getting a date. i'm sure you will find many friends here and plenty of answers to your questions as i have. i wish you much success, i'm sure you are very anxious right now with your date approaching. i'm also from Florida and was just wondering where you are getting your surgery done at ?

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
hello my fellow Smashing Pumpkins, hope everyone is doing well, congrads to you all. i had my 4th fill Monday and i'm down a few more lbs. a total of 37lbs now. i'm coming up on my 5th month band-a -versary and although i wish it would pick up i still feel blessed and know alot of it is me. i feel pretty good about this last fill, it feels real tight (for now) so we'll see how it goes. i think the most frustrating part for me is that you have to have the right balance between protein intake, exercise, water intake and all in order for the scale to really move. so i seem to get one part down pack but not all at the same time... Encoraging Word For Today : LACK OF WILL POWER HAS CAUSED MORE FAILURES THAN LACK OF INTELLIGENCE OR ABILITY !! HAPPY EASTER ALL, HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND DONT GIVE UP !

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
hello all, bradley18- you and i have the exact same band date. i will be going for my 4th fill in April and although i am down 35lbs, i find myself in the same spot as some of you guys. i started off doing very well with the excercise part and it became apart of my days like everything else. BUT... now it's like the motivation is gone and it's so hard to get it back. i wanted this surgery sooo bad and now that everyone else has done their part i feel like i'm not doing my part with it.:crying: my fills are good i was getting them once a month and was mixing up my routine between the gym and the sidewalk. i think we just need to pick ourself up and start fresh the next day, and i know first hand it's easier said than done. i just wish i can have the motivation i had when i was on the liquid diet(before surgery). we have to just keep our heads up and continue on our journey no matter what. ENCOURAGING WORD FOR TODAY : We Must All Suffer From 1 of 2 Pains.. The Pain of Discipline or The Pain of Regret. The Difference is Discipline Weighs Onces(inches), While Regret Weighs Tons(lbs)

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I go to the dr. on Monday for my 4th fill, the 24th made 4months post-op and im still around 33lbs lost. i only weigh myself at dr.apt's or my nutritionist vists, my weight loss has also slowed down:thumbdown: and has became a bit frustrating:cursing:. i'm on the low side of GOOD. i've lost alot of inches also and have went from size 26,24,22's to a size 18 so i'll take that as a great thing. i'll continue to plug away also but im really considering going back to more of a liquid diet like slim fast and protein shakes after my fill, and purchasing a spanx:sleep: to help guide me along. Keep up the great job everyone !

What do you look forward to most when you're no longer obese
1. being healthier, no more diabeties 2. being the youngest sibling but not larger than my older siblings. 3. shopping, shopping, shopping, and more shopping i'm 3months post-op, 3rd fill, 31lbs down, 6" off my waist, and went from a size 26,24,22 to now a size 18:lol:.

Help!!
let me correct myself on what i said earlier about eating rice. CHECK WITH YOU DR. FIRST !!!! everyone and everybody's Dr. is different . i only brought up rice because that's what TracieDuquette stated she had for dinner and it made her ill. RICE may not be for everyone and maybe it's not for TracieDuquette. :cursing:
-
Help!!
RestlessMonkey- i was told no rice/pasta but did learn i could have small amounts, but since i love it and it's probably my biggest problem i like to continue to think of it as something i just can't have:closedeyes: i do better with it that way. TracieDuquette - when you said you can't have a fill until 8weeks out from surgery, that means you are in what they call "BANDSTERS HELL" the time period of no restriction and no fill. you should still measure out your food, visit a nutrionist, and eat slower until you get your 1st fill!

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
LoveIsLovely - yeah i would think you would have had the gastric also(great job). okay i think i get it now, just keep moving at all times..i was working out but concentrated on weights after my 30min cardios. now i just walk, walk, walk and i'm thinking about doing Zumba. either at the gym or buying my own DVD set to do at home, Has anyone else tried Zumba?
-
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
Ruby- thank you , i'm really trying to stay focused and learn how to make this band work. i never thought that i could work out(weights) too much though:unsure:.those Protein Drinks look good i need to see if my local grocery store carries them:drool:! the Protein Drink that i make only has 23gm of Protein and i only like the vanilla flavor. LoveIslovely - you have been kicking butt lady:thumbup: 75lbs lost already, my what do you do ? and we are not that much off as far as dates:blink::thumbs_up: ,maybe 2 weeks or so.you go girl, keep up the good work you continue to be an inspiration to me and others ! Terri in KY- i'm also a Smashing pumpkin and have always came back to this site to see how all the other October Bandsters are doing. i may be wrong but i think we all just come back here and check in, and share our information. most have tickers to show weight lost or signatures..i forgot my pass word to update mine but is still at or around 28-30lbs lost... so i'm not sure but , Welcome my fellow Smashing Pumpkin:thumbup:
-
Discouraged!!!!
wow LoveIsLovely, you are doing amazing. i'm about 2months/2weeks post-op and is still stuck at 28lbs lost. i'm coming up on my 3rd fill in 2weeks but can't seem to shed anymore weight. like yourself i'll lose 5lbs gain back 2 then lose 3lb more, i also think i've busted my butt too much in the gym and was so concerned with flab and trying to do weights until i have turned my fat into muscle(which weigh more) because i haven't lost anything in about 2weeks. but like you said i'm not going to get discouraged and will concentrate on just walking and see what happens after my 3rd fill !
-
Help!!
hello Tracie, how long has it been since you had surgery? I'm about 2months and 2weeks post-op and i'm not an expert but i do know that... #1- RICE is a NO, NO it swells in your stomach(small stomach)! #2- it almost sound like you need a fill if you have not had one, seem like your restriction is GONE ! you probably should try to weight your food out,so you will see how much you are eating. also try chewing slower and after 15min you should start to feel full, if not before hand. everyone is different so what may work for me may not work for you, but i hope it helps some what. hang in there, once you learn your band it's amazing!
-
do you get a numbing agent before a fill?
:scared2:oh my gosh, i'm about 2months,2weeks post-op and have a real problem with needles. i've always had the freezing spray:smile2: with each one of my fills and really can't see myself sitting still with out it! that is not a small needle and the sight of it made me nervous, i'm coming up on my 3rd fill and i don't feel a thing or know it's in place unless he says "sit up and drink". my port is right below my largest incision and although my port site don't hurt, when he press(ultra sound) on my largest incision it's still tender. but other than that it's quick, easy, painless and takes about 5min. bigpapa2- i've never had to lift my legs in the air until the needle was placed:unsure: my gosh!

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
Hello Skinnydippn42, before my surgery i asked for pictures of the inside of my stomach before and after the Band. they gave it to me on a CD, and i was told that they record each surgery and will give you a DVD of your surgery upon request ahead of time. i called later in an attempt to get a copy of my surgery and was not successful in doing so although i would love to see it! they (Medical Records & Dr.Office) gave me the run arounds as to who really had them. I'm due for my 3rd fill, although right after my 2nd one i was good it has seem to slip as the weeks pass by. i also think i've been too aggressive with weights in my workouts and have turned fat into muscle(mass weigh more) and that's another reason my weight lost have stopped lately. it's been over 2months since surgery and i feel like i'm still at the weight lost(25LB) from the liquid diets. i have lost alot of inches but can't seem to get under 250...UGHHHH !

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I'm Doing Good, i made it through the Holidays and manage to lose 3lbs still. My restriction is still pretty good from my 2nd fill but i am ready to see where my 3rd fill will put me. i work out every other day but feel i need to step it up to walking and weights every other day and just walking on the off days. i feel like the weight lost has stopped or slowed down and i can't get over 28lbs lost !
-
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
i go for my 2nd fill today :thumbup:and hopefully i will have the restriction back that i once had. Christmas will be the test. i'm down another 3lbs but that's 3 out of the 5lb i gained back since being back on solids. i've been playing around with 2-3lbs for 2 weeks now and it's driving me crazy:cursing:, if this doesn't get it i'm turning into a "Fill Junkie" i swear..lol so we will see...Hope everybody else is doing good and i'm Wishing All My Smashing Pumpkins A Happy Holidays

Does our tummy above the band stretch like Bypass patients do?
not sure how to fix it, but i was told if you drink with your meals (BIG NO, NO:thumbdown:) it has the potential to stretch. you would probably have to have it replaced, i would think ! took off and repositioned ??
-
Any October Bandsters!??!?!
Yep, Yep these darn Holidays and all the potluck lunches and Holiday Dinners are really tough  when it comes to eating less. especially with no feeling of real restriction. this has been the hardest challenge ever, i'm also ready for them to hurry by as fast as possilbe. everything is just so darn good:drool:, and like yourself SickNTired i've had my first fill and the restriction is gone. but i am fortunate that i was able to call the Dr. and get my 12-29 apt changed to monday 12-22(before Christmas). so we will see how the restriction is with the 2nd fill :w00t:

What made you decide on getting banded?
hello all, for me it was : 1. being told i was type 2 diabetic, and never/ not being able to take pills to control it !:mad2::blushing: 2. never being able to control my weight or get it off and keep it off !:frown: 3. actually seeing myself in pictures and not realizing i was that heavy. i always felt fat and fabulous/ BBW. 4. tired of my outside not matching the way i feel on the inside. and trying on clothes and having them not fit the way i thought they should.:crying: 5. and last but not least having a child/family member make a comment that if i took a bath all the Water would come out of the tub because i was too fat... now that hurt me more than anything. i know i am heavy but wait a damn minute i can still take a bath and keep all the water in !!!:crying: (i'll show them)

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
GottaBThin - it's okay we all struggle and hit hurdles everyday. it's not easy at all, you just have to pick back up and start over the next day:smile2:. and exercising is not easy either it's hard getting motivated :bored:some time, you have to focus on something and pull it from deep down. thinking about having lose skin usually gets me out the house:blink: and on my way, and music with a nice beat is a must:cool2: ! and eating right and fighting the mental is a problem for me almost daily as well, i don't think you're the only one who wants a fill because you don't have mental control :blushing: i'm one of those also !! i had a large honeybun full of sugar, carbs, and calories yesterday and then went to the gym to try and redeem myself but only did 20min on the treadmill. so yes i feel guilty also, if we had mental control we would'nt of needed the band in the first place. it's a learning process that will get better with time. "Time Ease All Things":smile2:
