Alexandra, you are soooo wise, I just got banded (july 17) and I love reading your posts, they are so informative and inteligent. I hope my altimate outcome will be like yours..... no counting, measuring, weighing, or journoling (new word:biggrin1: )....just knowing when to push your plate away without worrying about the children in Africa. You are an inspiration to me Alex

My best friend is a size 2 and is 5'8" and I always refered to us as being a perfect "10" she's the 1 and I'm the 0:) I want us to graduate to an 11:D ! I want my kids to recognize me in a "non horizontal" position. I want to be more active and not be the fat chick at the girls night out. I want to be able to feel comfortable in a bathingsuit again (I used to turn heads because I was cute now I turn heads because i am fat...but not for long:D 1110

Post-op diet question
Eating solid foods prematurly might make your band slip (this is what my doc told me). If you feel very strongly about it... put what ever solid food you are eating in a blender with enough water to make a runny poridge (I know that sounds discusting) then your belly will feel full and you will not be straining the oriphus (opening b/n pouch and rest of gut) created by the band thus standing a chance of slipage alex

Just because you are banded does not mean that you can not look/smell/ and maybee:omg: lick a donut. I think a little bit perversion and kink is like salt in your food ... too much can't eat it ... too little and it is too blan. I am all for "...sisters are doing it for themselves...:heh: " ofcaurse having a dh or dw to scarch that itch is not bad iether:biggrin1: Alex BANDED AND BRANDED JULY 17 WEIGHT AT SURGERY: 214lb (5'3")

Banded And Branded
:clap2: MY DEAR LBT FRIENDS AS OF JULY 17TH I AM OFFICIALLY PART OF THE BANDED SIDE OF THIS WONDERFULL FORUM!!!! I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS: I HAD MY BAND DONE BY DR SPIVAK IN HOUSTON AND HIS liquid DIET CONSISTS OF (AMONG OTHERS) STRAINED Soup. FOR THE PAST DAY AND A HALF I HAVE BEEN LIVING ON A VEGITABLE SOUP CONKOKTION (MADE WITH CALIFLOWER/POTATOE/CARROT) WHICH HAS BEEN PUT THRU PROCESSER AND DILUTED WITH Water FOLLOWED BY A SF/FF POPSICAL. I AM STILL SUFFERING:think FROM THE CO2 GAS PAINS THAT WAS USED TO EXTEND MY ABDOMIN DURING PROCEDURE...I FEEL LIKE I HAVE AN ELEPHANT SITTING ON MY CHEST. THUS I CAN'T TELL WEATHER I AM EATING (DRINKING RATHER:) ) TOO MUCH OR IS THE PAIN FROM ALL THAT CO2 PRESSING ON MY CHEST AND ABDOMEN ANY ONE WITH ANY THOUGHTS OR SUGGESTIONS, WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED ALEX

NW Houston Bandsters
Hey NW Bandsters To avoid emberasments, lets give each other a kind of a heads up about our apearance so we do not have to ask total strangers ".....are you here for the lapband get together?? :paranoid :fish: ..." Lets tell each other some destinct features about our selves so we can pick each other out in a crownd:p . I have very, long brown hair which I will leave down for the meeting so people who are in Paneras for the meeting will recognise me as one of the group:biggrin1: I can't wait to meet you all:clap2: Alex (XelaPaul)

Don't know what to title this
Dear Sherri I am in the medical field and I would suggest a possible medical solution. This is only a suggestion and ONLY MY OPENION. Everything I read before my post is wonderfull and hopefully will resolve your problems BUT, if it will continue and you want to stay maried to that man you might consider the following: (When I had my daughter, I developed post partum depression and my DH and I were on the verge of devorce. I cryed on my best friends sholder and she, after hearing me out, said..."Do you want to stay maried to your man?..." When I said "yes" she requested that I go see my PCP and ask to be placed on antidepresents (Celexa ended up working best for me). Now mind you, It did not change my husband's mean outbursts but, it changed my whole outlook on him, my child, and life overall. Its not that it all changed but I changed the way I reacted towards them. This medication helped me to BELIEVE that things will actually work out and be OK!! What he says or does is really not very important (if you can't change his thought process anyway) but, with the help of the meds you will be able to FEEL better which is the most important thing you can do right now!! Again this is only my openion and I would never put it forth as a gospil truth:) . It just helped me tolorate my mariage when it was on the rocks and enjoy it even more when it was smooth sailing Hang in there it will get better one way or another Xelapaul-----All of us are here for you:girl_hug:

pre-op clearance
Hi I am a CardioVascular Sonographer and perform (among other procedures) echos----If your EKG showed normal and it was done properly (I have seen people with heart attacks/and completely normal) missdiagnosed because the first EKG was performed by unqualified personal (it is very important where electrodes are placed on body for proper results). Just like bonedensity scans echos and stresstests are becoming the bread and butter for many physicians (easy money too) out there I see noninvasive (and invacive:eek:) procedures performed on pt just because they meet the criteria NOT because the NEED IT. Having a "Dead Fish" bedside manner is one thing but being a cattle hurder is another.. check ar ound ask your pcp for a bariatric frendlier cardio doc. Or even better... Present the question to your local support groups or OH/LBT state forums

dr note to ins
Does anyone have any good suggestions reguarding what PCP should write in his letter to the ins company to "honey" them up:) ?? He has a very bussy practice so it needs to be short and to the point. Also, if anyone has written something from themselves and sent it to ins I would greatly appreciate getting some ideas thanks all in advance
