Bobbi151...Same thing happened to me! But a couple days after my skin was back to normal. But I know now to let the doc know I am allergic to Iodine.

I am on day 12 of a 24 day preop diet of nothing but protein shakes, broth and jello sugar free pudding. I haven't cheated at all, and I am not planning on it, but we all know how that goes. I carry most of my weight in my stomach, so I am really super worried about my liver being to fatty for surgery. But I have lost 10 lbs so far, so thing are going ok. My surgery is on Nov 19th in San Diego with Dr. Horgan with UCSD. Good luck everyone!!!

HiI am self pay in San diego as well. I paid 16,500.00 to UCSD with Dr. Horgan. That includes all the preop work, initial consult, and pysch. His entire team seems great so far, I am getting my surgery on Nov 19th! Good luck!

I have a question for everyone who went to dr. horgan at UCSD. How much did you lose on the liquid diet? I have lost about 6 lbs so far, but i am so worried that I am going to be in surgery and find out my liver is too big.

I am on day one of a 4 week liquid diet. I tried optifast years ago and had some success (about 25 lbs in 2 months) so I'm thinking this won't be so bad. My doctor said for me to do 3 weeks, but the dietician said I could do an extra week if I wanted. I can have unlimited broth soups, anyone have some ideas? Right now I am just drinking regular chicken or beef broth, but it is not that great.

SD Mom, I had my initial consult last week, and they called to schedule my surgery for the end of November. Good luck! And be prepared to be there about 4 hours, at least that was how long it was for me and I have no major medical issues except for being obese. Everyone was so nice!

Hi Hollie, How exciting for you...I live in Downtown SD and I will be looking for the article. I am going in for my consultation in a week with Dr. Horgan. I am hoping to have surgery around the end of November. Congrats again! Abby
