  1. You'll need to get used to feeling the cold, once you loose all the weight you won't have as much fat to keep you warm ? I think you are plenty focused as it is and we all have cheat days, they will just be a smaller portion size for those post-op. Friday is my pizza day now if I am eating at home and it is just 1/5 or 1/4 of a frozen pizza so that one pizza lasts me four to five Fridays. Sadly my Amazon doesn't have the travel version of the scale in stock as I would have liked that for my holiday next month, just to help me make sure I am still on track as I will be doing a lot of walking I hope (if my knees don't complain too much).
  2. Oh I hear you. I had gone almost a year with no period and one week shy of being classed menopausal it reappeared and now has been every two weeks. I now recognise it the day before as I suddenly want to, and can, eat more, but still small by previous standards. It is a pain in the ass as I can't trust a schedule anymore and I had to go out and buy all new period underwear (old ones were thrown out as I thought I had no use for them anymore and they were now massive). Now for travelling next month I have to be prepared for what may come! I think my system is shot after all my surgery complications.
  3. I am not sure what age you are but did you get your hormones checked at all recently? Maybe some of the symptoms you are feeling are connected to peri/menopause. I thought my exhaustion and lack of concentration was all part of my bariatric recovery however my GP had me do a hormone test and now I am on HRT which has made a huge difference. May not apply to you at all but just something to maybe consider getting tested if you haven't already.
  4. That is great news, another step forward. First question..... when do you have availability for the surgery? I think most questions I can think of would possibly be covered by the bariatric team you may want answers to such as what follow up/after care is given with frequency and number of appointments. what is his/her history of surgery with regards to complications, can you take anything (like wind-eze) to help with the gas that you may have after the surgery, can you stay longer an extra night in hospital if you needed (just in case you would prefer to stay under their care instead of trusting hubby )
  5. Ah I thought you meant the Spanish sparkling wine, which is also good
  6. I got this scale and love that it does all the other stats also. It is the same type my GP has. https://www.amazon.co.uk/RENPHO-Bathroom-Bluetooth-Weighing-Composition/dp/B07YFS6GXB?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1 I also bought their measuring tape and skipping rope so it is all linked for tracking
  7. I am the same, have lost my boobs and bum and just feel I look flat. I was feeling quite down about it a few weeks ago so I went out and for the fist time ever bought padded bras. I look and feel so much better but I would like to get a little work done on them at a later date. @ms.sss I think yours look how I would like mine to be. I was around between a 36-38 DD/E and now a 32-34D but saggy. I am not sure if boob jobs are covered here under the state insurance here, will ask in the coming months as I think they say I have to wait at least a year and a half, until the weight loss slows down and remains stable.
  8. I do approx 1/4 cup oats, layer it with 0% fat Greek yoghurt and then put about 10g frozen berries on top. Overnight the berries defrost and it means a bit of juice for the mix as well.
  9. Well done to you on the motivation it must take. If you are up and out at 4am, what time are you going to bed? I am not the best sleeper so most mornings wake at 4/4.30am but I have never considered getting up and active.
  10. I have two bad knees, just bone on bone, and would not be able to walk or stand for long without being in agony that night in bed and sore for a day or two afterwards. Since the surgery the pain is much less, nearly zero, I do so much more and just have the aches I think would be normal from the exertion. For my upcoming trips (work and holiday ones) I will be on my feet a lot and doing a lot of walking so I am still going to get what has become my annual knee injections in the hospital in advance and bring a muscle gel with me on the trips but it is more just so I am not impacted at all while away so I can enjoy it. I am hoping that the ortho surgeon will say to give it longer before he sees a need to replace the knees now that there is considerably less weight on them.
  11. Not boring and some of them were on my list of wins when I first started to lose the weight - my backside only taking up one seat on public transport, being able to get through a turnstile without having to turn sideways and performing some sort of gymnastics movement, being able to comfortably close the seatbelt on the plane, not fearing that every time a chair or bed creaked it was going to be the fault of my weight that caused something to break and not thinking that everyone was looking at and judging me when clothes shopping or eating. All dreams and wins count, big and small.
  12. I am the same when it comes to the heat, I HATE it. A holiday in the heat/sun would be my idea of hell and the times I have had to do it I would melt within seconds and I would have chub rub on my thighs if I wore a sun dress. Then I would not want any part of me exposed, no way was I going to be seen in a swimsuit, couldn't get nice plus size summer clothes that would be a style I would wear all meant I felt like crap on a holiday when it is meant to be a relaxing fun time. I have gotten a bit better with the heat in the last couple of years but that is by my standards, what I consider hot is probably cold to say an Italian or Southern Spaniard I now either go out of season (also means cheaper prices) or to non sunny destinations. Like I went to the Spanish islands in May, perfect at 20c/68f with just blue skies and at least Washington next month should not be too hot plus it is the US so I am presuming everywhere except the sidewalk has aircon. You now have the time to think of some locations and plan a reward for yourself, you will have been through a lot and deserve the holiday.
  13. I actually go to DC next month, wanted to get there (and back) before the election and hopefully have pleasant weather.
  14. Also maybe you need to change your forum name to ShrinkingZ or PreviouslyKnownas...
  15. You have done amazing. If it wasn't for the tats wouldn't even be sure it was you in the latest pics.
  16. Great list. I took up pilates and like it so much the teacher is putting on an extra class each week for me, just have to hope others sign up also so she keeps them going. I am going on my long wanted holiday to D.C. I now know I can do all the walking and sightseeing I have had on my list and I can fly in comfort knowing I am not restricted in a small seat/seatbelt and can shop in the non-plus size sections of Macy's Bloomingdales etc. I bought myself a couple of handbags as 'rewards' I think I will soon be ready to look at starting to date again. It has been years as I never thought I was worthy, if I didn't love myself why would someone else? But I think I am close to now to being ready to at least dip my toe in the water, albeit the reality of if all makes me feel a bit nauseous. I used to like to walk and I have enjoyed doing that again, even if it is just 20 minutes around the block. Just nice to get fresh air and have a bounce in my step. I am organising a party next year for my birthday which I invited all my family (about 30) to a hotel for a few days away, my treat, to celebrate and also thank them all for their love and support over the last year. (Means I can't buy anymore handbags for a while as have to save!)
  17. I had my gall bladder removed years ago after collapsing due to infected stones. I was told I wouldn't be able to eat rich foods afterwards but I didn't have any problems. I have to do B12 injections every 4 to 6 weeks. I used to get them at my doctors surgery but the GP said it was a waste of my money to be paying to go see her when I could do them at home myself. I used to be terrified of needles but like @MrsFitz says I actually find it easier to do it on myself now. I also do the thigh, alternate each time but I would consider it a long needle as it has to go through fat/muscle to get into the system. I often wonder what my cleaning lady must think when she is cleaning my cupboards, one is my drinks and medicine cabinet and when you open the door you see all the needles, alcohol wipes etc. nicely there besides the Baileys ?
  18. Exactly, box ticked and now on to the rest of the steps they will have you do and as you say here is a great resource.
  19. Ah that is ok then I thought it might be if you got to 35 which isn't that far off considering how well you have been doing already. For the surgery here you have to have a BMI of 35 or greater or else 30 with co-morbidities.
  20. I have been through so many pairs of jeans in the last few months if someone looked in my wardrobe they would think I was a jeans shop! For clothes what I have been doing is mainly buying second hand (vestiaire collective and ebay) or new but in sales for tops and trousers (Next, M&S, About You and Amazon) but then buying jeans new from some of the cheaper shops (Only, JJXX). The most recent pair of jeans are too big now, look a silly type of baggy so not great for wearing to office but I don't think I am at the next size down yet. I will be in the US next month for a holiday so I am hoping to hit up a lot of stores there and buy a new wardrobe ?
  21. Any bit higher is a win. Took me ages to get to where my doctor and physio wanted me to be but every little puff helps.
  22. Yes sounds a bit vanilla of a presentation and she certainly doesn't sound like the best example, even for someone who had no issues with the surgery or recovery as not giving a great example of how to live life after by the sounds of it. Do you have to go to many of the sessions or is it just a once off? Do you need to have the knee surgery first? I was told I had to lose weight for knee surgery but hospital said to have the weight loss surgery first for two reasons, one to still be considered a high enough BMI (like you I had/have no co-morbidities) to qualify for the state paid surgery and also to release some of the weight pressure my knees are under before going through another surgery.
  23. Congratulations on 5 years and it sounds like you are living the life you deserve.
  24. That is all great news and glad you are home and recovering. I hope you don't even need the over the counter meds after another few days.
