  1. Newnavywife..........where are you stationed?
  2. I have reported him to Tricare and I am going to a new surgeon in Jacksonville. It will be hard as that is 200 miles away but I will make it!
  3. I will find a doc that accepts my insurance fully, I will even pay thousands to travel to a doc that does before I pay someone who was not up front about it. My insurance was good enough for him to take a few hundred dollar difference for the consult but not good enough for the surgaery? That is just wrong!
  4. I am in Melbourne.......where are you from?
  5. Lap band lady you are SO RIGHT!!!
  6. I am not looking for an answer here I was just curious. When the office girl first presented the $$ amount difference I immediately started thinking of ways to come up with the money but it was after the emotions calmed down that I started to feel it was just plain wrong and he should not be able to do this. I have already picked out 2 surgeons to call tommorow. Thanks for the input
  7. His office girl told me that they have had 3 or 4 Tricare cases come back that way so I know they have collected money from tricare and the patient. So unfair!!
  8. Good night........ stormy here too
  9. I am going nuts waiting to hear back from Tricare and of course I have to wait til Tuesday. His office girl told me that even though he is a network provider (general Surgery), he is not contracted for Bariatric surgery and therefore they can charge. If that was the case then why did he accept my insurance for the Bariatric evalution? Kinda contradicting if you ask me.
  10. But if you had insurance that says it covered and you go to a participating doctor and he wastes 2 months of your time to tell you he wants more, would you pay.
  11. I didnt mean to come off snotty, I am just so discouraged. I waited on pins and needles awaiting insurance approval and when it came in a yes I was estatic only to be deflated over $$. I truly am glad you are doing well.
  12. Let me just say that I admire all of you that have had to self pay. I have to ask the question though...."if you were approved by your insurance and all cost were covered, but the doc wanted thousands more than insurance will pay, would you pay the difference?"
  13. You really shouldnt assume that because I dont want pay that I dont really want it. I pay for insurance for a reason. This doctor has wasted 2 months of my time so I am not going to pay him.
  14. I am in Melbourne, was going to be banded by Dr. Domkowski but after being insurance approved I was told it didnt pay enough and they want the difference paid by me and I said no.
  15. Anyone here banded in Palm Bay Florida??
  16. I am beginnin to think insurance doesnt even matter. I have Tricare prime and I am approved and it should only cost me a $30.00 copay however my sureon wants to charge me the difference from what insurance will pay and that is $4000.00 I dont have. I am so dissappointed he wasted my time. (2 months to be exact)
  17. yes he is a contracted provider with Tricare but he is telling me he is not contracted for "bariatric" with tricare however he did accept payment for my Bariatric eval from tricare. What a mess
  18. I am going to try to not to give up but I just cant pay nor should I have to. I am just bummed that he was allowed to waste 2 months of my time.
  19. Yes, Tricare told me he cant bill me but he is. My issue with him is he accepted payment from Tricare for my eval so how can he NOT take it for the surgery?
  20. Thanks for the response........my doc is telling me he chares $5000.00 for surery and Tricare is payin $992.00 so he wants me to pay the balance and Tricare is telling me that is not right
  21. Did you use Tricare and if you did, are you prime or standard and what was your bottom line cost out of pocket? Thanks
  22. I am Tricare Prime so that means I should only be responsible for my $30.00 co pay
  23. Just looking for some reccomendations on Dr Jesse near Tampa Fl
  24. How about I went to a senimar at Palm Bay Hospital in August and waited til Sept 29th for a Doctor consult and then waited 2 weeks for them to obtain insurance (tricare) approval only to be told that they want me to pay the difference between the docs charge and what tricare will pay. That means out of pocket for me $4008.00. Keep in mind, I was APPROVED by my insurance. Sounds like a scam to me and a very disappointing roller coaster ride for me:frown:
