    Can Anybody Relate?

I was banded on Dec 22,08. I started at 207. My weight loss has been about 1 lb per week. I have had 3 fills so far. I am now at 165, and 30 away from my goal. I always thought I wasn't loosing fast enough, but my Dr has always been happy with my progress. Just keep on doing what the Dr tells you and you will get there.
  2. That is the reason only 2 people know that I had WLS. I didn't want to go through that all the time. If people ask me how I am losing weight, I tell them, eating less, and exercising more. Which is true, but my band is my private business.:rose:

    Drinking with a straw

Hi, I get banded tomorrow. At my last pre-op, I asked the Doctor about straws. She told me they were no longer off limits. They thought that they were bad for you, but have decided that they are not. Now, this is just my Doctor, so ask your to see what they say.
  5. The first couple of days I had a real hard time with the protein powder. It made me feel sick when I drank it. I started mixing the vanilla with crystal lite. Makes a big difference for me. It tastes more like a smoothie that way. It tough, but you can do it. After day 3 it gets a lot easier.
  6. I am on day 5 of my 7 day liquid diet. I get banded on Dec 22. It does get better. On the second day I didn't think I would make it. But, I stuck to it and remembered this is only for one week out of my life. I'm self pay also. So, I have 14,000 at stake. That has been a lot of incentive for me. Stick to what your doctor said, and remember what the reward will be in the end.

    So many variations!

I get banded Dec 22. I have to do clear liquids for one week. Then, day after surgery I go to full liquids. Which means I can have strained creamed soups and pudding added to my clear liquid diet. My Doc said one cup of coffee a day after I am healed will be okay. I guess just go with what your own Doc tells you and you should be okay.
  8. You look great! I get banded on Dec 22. I am the same weight you were. I hope in 6 months I look as good as you.:cursing:
  9. I am self pay. It will be 13,850. This includes 1 year fills and monthly follow ups. This is in Salt Lake, Utah.

    Any December '08 Bandsters?

I am getting banded on Dec 22, with 1-week liquid diet. I am only telling one of 4 sister, and my husband of course knows. I am keeping to myself because whenever I have been on a diet everyone is always watching you. Seeing how much you are eating, what you are eating etc. I don't want to go through that anymore. When they notice I am losing weight, I will just say thanks and tell them I am just eating less, and exercising more.

    No insurance

I am self pay too. I am getting the money from 401K. I think it will be the best investment I have made this year. I have a lower BMI, so even if my insurance did pay for WLS, they would not for me.

I can't wait for Dec 22! Christmas will be coming a few days early for us!
  13. Becky, Thanks for sharing your great progress. I am scheduled to be banded on Dec 22. It is so nice to hear stories like yours right now. I am nervous and could use all the inspiration I can get!

    Any December '08 Bandsters?

My date is Dec 22 too. I am really excited, and scared at the same time. Surgery that close to Christmas. But, I need to remember why I am doing this. Next year will be so much better!
  15. Only my husband and one sister knows I am getting banded. I live in a small town, and I don't like everyone knowing my business. I guess it is a personal choice who you tell. I agree with the others that think it is private matter. When I start loosing weight, I will tell them I too am eating better.
  16. Hi everyone, I am looking into LapBand surgery. I am not at the minimum requirement BMI of 40. However, I am not that far off. Has anyone else started out having to gain some weight before qualifing for surgery? If I ever get it done, it will be paid by me, so insurance won't be an issue.
