  1. That does sound yummy. I love anything that smells, tastes, or feels like a vacation! Therefore pineapples, coconuts, etc are my fav's..
  2. Those of you who have already had your revision from Band to RNY.. what do you think is the biggest difference you have noticed so far with how you are handling life after the RNY versus the Band? (does that make sense? lol)
  3. Sharing is a great idea vamplover85.. hubby and I try to do that now to cut down on our portion sizes. We went to TGI Fridays the other day and me, hubby, and both the kids shared 1 meal and STILL have some food left.. it's insane the portion sizes that you get.
  4. Maybe just buy really small portions of things and spend a day experiementing with various recipies.. you can make your food for the week and start making a list of the likes and dislikes. It must be hard.. it's like getting to know yourself all over again.
  5. It definitely makes me feel better to not be alone in this. Of course I don't feel good that it didn't work out for others but it's comforting to know that it wasn't 100% me, if that makes any sense. Defnitely no more failures eglean2!
  6. Hopefully it's just the gas that is bothering you and hopefully it passes super fast! Feel better soon
  7. You can put the broth into ice cube trays and once it is frozen.. put the cubes in a freezer bag. Since you will only be able to do little bits at a time you can grab a couple cubes.. heat them up and there is no waste I did that for my kids when I made them baby food and since them I do it with most liquids I want to freeze
  8. Chicken soup is good for you so its a win/win
  9. I don't really have a recipe.. I used to make my own when I was on broths after I had lap band.. then I continued to make it when I knew I would need larger batches when cooking. I take all the makings of soup.. veggies.. meat.. spices.. etc.. and cook it all together and then strain out the liquid. When you get to mushies.. you can use the veggies from the soup and smash them/puree them up etc.
  10. You are in the hospital right now.. probably either in surgery or just out (depending when they began it).. Sending many positive thoughts your way for an easy recovery!
  11. Congrats on the 19 pounds! The 21st is right around the corner, how exciting!
  12. The problem with broths too.. is the sodium level so be sure to check that. As far as if you bought the right stuff.. I would think if it said chicken broth.. it was.. but it might not have tasted that great because it may have been more geared toward cooking with it (like holiday cooking.. large birds etc). Swanson might not be a good brand for sipping. I usually make my own broths so not sure how much help I can be with recommending specific brands but I know the cubes tend to have a lot of sodium so if you go that route.. get the low sodium ones
  13. Not all chicken broth is created equal.. especially the store bought kind. I've bought some that were down right nasty before. Have you tried making a batch of your own? I wonder if you could use chicken broth strained from chicken soup? That might be a better flavor for you.
  14. Keep us updated on what ur doc says and if you get a date set
  15. That is amazing news! I am so happy for you, what a great feeling to have
  16. So I figured I would just jump right in with everyone and tell my story . (I’ll try to put it all in a nutshell!) I have struggled with my weight most of my life. I hit my highest weight after having my daughter in 2007. I weighed in at 318 pounds. In 2008 I was able to get down to about 250 pounds and could not get any more weight off and opted for the LapBand surgery. I got down to 220 pounds in April of 2010 and wasn’t able to get any more off when I got pregnant with my son. I had my son in December of 2010 and was up to nearly 280. I am currently at 260 now and after talking to my doctor, I have decided to go with a revision and have my LapBand removed and have RNY surgery. I am also dealing with some gall stones as well so I will be having my gall bladder removed. After talking it over with my doctor, he is going to try and do it all in one surgery. So I will be having my LapBand removed, have my gall bladder taken out and if all goes well with those, he will perform the RNY right then. I am set to have surgery at the end of June. An exact date is not set in stone but I wanted to wait until my daughter is out of school so I had no worries about finding her a way to and from school. So sometime around June 21st-25th I will be having my surgery. After talking it over with my hubby and my doctor, we feel this is the best route to take and after talking to my doc I am really surprised how much of the wrong information I was told about RNY, so I am happy to have a great doc who sat with me through all of my questions. So I am excited and scared about having the revision. Excited, because of obvious reasons that we all share, and scared for probably some of the same reasons. I am considered a failed lap band patient and that is something that is hard to take. The doctor did a good job of explaining to me that it wasn’t entirely my fault on why the lap band did not work out for me, that it just isn’t the right fit for some people. So, yeah, that is where I am at now. Very excited about the RNY in June and very scared at the same time. Would love to talk to others who have had the revision from band to RNY to see how recovery was. I am an American living in Kuwait right now and unfortunately there aren’t really any support groups out here so I am hoping to find a nice home here and find the support that I need .
  17. I am having a revision as well. I had Lapband in 2008 and didn't lose as I should have and have opted for RNY. I don't have an exact date yet but it will be end of June so I'm not too far behind you
  18. Mr Fouad at Al Salam International is a great doctor and is good with fills.
  19. I took those gasX strips and they seemed to help a little.. if nothing else, they helped mentally.. lol What i did notice, that worked for me, was taking deep breaths. Slow in and slow out. I think it helped open up my lungs and helped me relax a little which got the gas moving along.
  20. I think you should talk to your surgeon before taking anything. I know you said your a week out so there could be a number of things it could be. I know when you are just out of surgery.. pneumonia is a concern.. with you being a week out it's prolly not that but better safe then sorry. I had to cough a few times a few days after surgery.. just a weird tickle in my throat..so painful.. definitely find out if you can take something to help you stop coughing.
  21. Hey.. I'm pretty new to the site and excited about meeting everyone. I am scheduled for surgery on October 6th and cannot wait. April
  22. this is a very tricky situation. first of all.. I am so sorry he said this to you.. something like that can stay with someone forever and for it to come from someone you love so deeply is unacceptable. Ok.. giving him the benefit of the doubt... was he joking when he said it? (not that is is a joking matter). You said that you both are brutally honest with each other (my hubby n i are too). sit him down and tell him how it made you feel and let him know you cannot let go of it. Ask him to explain to you why he would feel this way and why he felt it was acceptable to say something so hurtful. I know you love him and dont want to leave him.. but this situation really needs to be talked thru. He needs to know how much he hurt you. I hope you are able to work thru this.. it is not a good feeling to be put in that kind of situation *hugs*
  23. GREAT JOB! I know it's gotta feel good. It's gotta feel great to know you are healthier!
