Anyone else dying on your post op diet?
Blended refried beans, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, blended low fat/low sodium chili, still some cream soups, sf pudding w/ protien powder added. Thats all i can think off the top of my head. I am also not very creative with mixing foods.

LapBand = Better Sex
I had this a few years ago but it was because of my depression and also a side effect of medication. I am still that way now but because I am not ok with my body.

Why do women have anal sex?
I admit I like it. Its a great feeling and even better is a toy in one hole and him in another. Its a new way to spice up the bedroom. We dont do it everytime, its like a special even thing. There is times where I am NOT in the mood for it and I just say the classic 'not to night dear' line and he's cool with it.

Jerky?
You guys just made me a happy girl! I was thinking that jerky was out of my diet forever. ONce I get to eating ;noraml' foods again I will have to try this. Not to mention a road trip is coming up and you basically eat out of gas stations!

Protein Bullets 42 grams protein in 3 fl oz
I like taking the shots too but not a huge fan on the tastes. I pick mine up at Walmart for like $1.25 each. I will have to check out the site you posted. I was told by my dietitian, and correct me if I am wrong, your body only takes in 28g of Protein at a time. So if you take the whole shot at once wont you be wasting all that extra precious protein? I have been splitting it because I dont want to waste any protein or money

Anyone else dying on your post op diet?
I know I am! I am on mushies and have been for 2 weeks or so and I am DYING to chew something! I am a picky eater and I am getting tired of eating the same 5 things over and over again! I am experiencing head hungry like everyone else is too. Man it sucks! I still have 2 weeks on mushies left and I can't wait to eat 'soft' foods! Doesnt help that my husband eats those oh so good foods. Chips and salsa is a favorite of mine and yep he eats it! He tries not to in front of me but sometimes he can hide it. He knows he is dead if he eats a burger or pizza in front of me though! The only 2 things I actually crave latley:drool:.

Does it get easier to drink WATER?
yes it get easier like the others said. I was very dehydrated the first few days! I am still a wimp and wont drink a normal swallow of water. I sip but a lot more often. I take like half of a normal drink. I hope in the next week to drink a normal swallow of water.

Can you feel your port?
I am 2 weeks post op and I can feel mine. Its just a hard feeling on my biggest incision. Its only sore in one spot but I can touch it no problem. Just lightly feel around your incisions, you might find it.

Feeling VERY hungry :(
I am 2 weeks post op today and I have to say, it does get worse before getting better. I was STARVING days 9-13 all the time and I was on mushies. I was on mushies by day 3 and it was nice an filling at first. You will develop more of an appetite as time goes by I have noticed. Bandster hell is the right word for all this. All I can say is BE STRONG, you will be on mushies soon and enjoy that. Pretty soon you will be scraving 'soft foods' just so you can chew.

My current dilema...
I had the same problem but I just associated them with gas. I couldnt eat very much after my surgery so I knew it wasnt hunger.

Favorite mushies/purree stage food
refried beans! I take a small amount with milk and mild hot sauce and puree it. Then melt some cheese in it. Lots of protein between the milk products and the beans. Pureed chili is another good one.

Craziest Things People Have Said Coming From Under General Anesthesia...
I woke up and said "I stopped breathing!" the male nurse grinned and told me I was fine and I was breathing. Id fall asleep and wake up again "OMG I'm so sorry I stopped breathing again" He assured me that the monitors would go off if I stopped breathing. I did this like 6 times. He must of been laughing!

I'm Banded! My experiance!
Thanks girls for the sympathy! I hope I am not overreacting. I am doing very good healing! Today I was off meds completely and able to sleep on my sides without pain. I cant wait for my month appt and talk to my doctor about everything! I weighed myself today (naked of course) and I hit 220. I wont take that as a solid # yet because I dont believe it is true.

An obervation on what scared most of us before our Lap-Band surgery.
My biggest fear is of course failure. I can't believe I wont be able to drink soda and eat cake. I crave pizza and hamburgers but I think I will be happier without those food in my life. Someone on here once said 'Nothing tastes as good and being skinny feels!' and that helps me a lot when I get down about not eating my old favorite foods.

Question about hunger pains.
My tummy growls at me a lot but more when I need to eat. I think its gas and my tummy digesting. I call my tummy "the angry cat" because it growls loud and angry like. I walk it out a lot but doesnt always work.

Post-Op Reporting in!
Yep that pain is normal! It eases up after a few days but I'm at day 5 and still have some. All I can say is walk it out! Its a lifesaver. I wish I had a recliner! I have a bed (hard to get out of) and a couch (not comfy to sleep on). I slept in bed the first night. I was just fine in it but had DH get me out of bed or I'd be stuck! I wasnt hungry at first but now I get a bit hungry but nothing a very small meal cant fix. Literally tablespoons of food is filling. Glad your happy with your decision!

2 days post op - feeling terrible
I felt this at day 2, not as bad as you describe but yes worse on day 2. Today I woke up and thankfully most gas was gone, walking a lot helped me. Everyone is different though and we all handle pain in our own way.

Ate a burger two days after surgery
I am 3 days post op and I feel the same way! I couldnt imagine eating real food yet! You must heal something quick! I agree with all the other posts to just get back on the diet your meant to be on.

I'm Banded! My experiance!
First of all let me apologize for spelling errors, I am taking to the pain meds quite well. Also while my experiance was not great, its because of my hospital not the surgery itself. My hospital is well known for bad staff, screw ups, and has a lot of complaints filed against them. This is the only hospital for hundred of miles so it was this or nothing. So I was told that my surgery was at 10 so to show up at 7am. As soon as I walk in the door they start rushing me and ask wher I have been. I explained I was 'on time' and they informed me that I was bumped to the 8 am surgery time. Someone for got to call me....surgery went well tho. I really like my surgeon, he is an older gentleman but very nice. I went to my room where my MIL and friend were waiting for me. They put me in a room with NO pain meds and didnt come back for 2 hours. I was ok but not comfortable at all. So my friend went out and found the nurse to give me meds. I had 3 nurses through out the day OMG 2 of them were RUDE! I am going to file a complaint but thats not the subject at hand lol. so after some hours of dozing off I decided I want to walk. I call for the nurse like I was advised to and no one shows up. So my friend find the nurse again. I walk real easy and get some gas out (huge relief), I eat some and had to go pee for them to let me go home. They told me just 2 more hours and I can go home. So I decided to sleep while my MIL and friend go pick up my meds. A woman walks in and says 'the bathroom door is boke, can this man measure it so he can fix it?' I say yes. I am just in my gown and alone but figure he will be out soon and the woman would stay with him. Nope, she left and he was there for over 20 minutes walking in and out of my room NOT annoucing himself. He was mumbling numbers and keeping me awake. This began to really upset me but I just pretended to sleep so he's leave me alone. Then when I got dressed to go home I got very nausous like where your mouth starts watering in preparation to puke, so I laid down and hit the 'call for nurse' button....10 minutes later no one showed up. So I bucked up and tried it again. This time my MIL came in and I got nausous again, so I hit the button again. 10 minutes later....no one. So MIL goes and find my nurse and requests antil-nausia meds for me. I went home and have been good. Good amount of gas in my but its coming out. I have to say walking makes a big difference and so does the Gas-X strips. Even tho bad things happened I am happy! My husband is being so good to me and so are my friends who know. MIL has been a angel this whole time. I am a very lucky girl. My scars look real good with the Derma Glue only thing that hurts is my port. WORD OF ADVICE FOR AFTER SURGERY: You will have hiccups from the gas and yes it will hurt some. But its very normal I am finding out. I didnt know about them and they did give me a scare lol

Pre op testing done (Just my babbling)
I finally got my preop testing done a week before surgery date! They "forgot" to call me and set up a time, thank god one nurse spotted this! So it went good! While taking my BP the nurse looked at me and said "Girl you got skinny arms! Let me get out my smaller arm cuff." LOL made my day to hear someone say I had skinny arms. I have been real nervous lately about the 5th. This is my FIRST surgery ever. So I chatted with the nutritionist today (shes a gastric patient as well) and she made me feel so much at ease! She really gave me confidence that I will be just fine. I asked her if I had to wait to have sex and she said 'Do you think you can wait until you leave the hospital?' :wink2: My husband has a demanding job and wont be able to be there for my surgery so I am bummed but my MIL is flying in to take care of me for a few days. I can't sleep thinking about surgery over and over again. So talk to me! How are you feeling as the date approaches?
