November 2022 surgery support!
Hi doing well here 2 weeks post op. Have been eating tuna with lots of yogurt, had chili once, crab salad, egg bites with hummus, mozzarella cheese, ground turkey, all handled well. My fluids are at about 55oz to 60z but it gets hard, its easier to meet protein with a 30g shake for snacks otherwise I fall at 50g Today have not been hungry since breakfast, but having shakes throughout the day.

November 2022 Surgery Buddies
Hello everyone, had my 1st meal outside of liquid, not sure why I chose chili aside from my team saying we could have it. I took my sweet time eating it (about 40 minutes), chewing one bean 50 times and checking my body for signals, I added 2 oz of broth to thin it out and dilute the spices. I was able to have 1oz when I got a hiccup and since that is one of the full signals, I stopped immediately. I'm monitoring myself like crazy to check for anything out of sorts, but I will skip it for a few meals to try things maybe with a little less spice. Hope everyone is having a great start of their weeks!

Post op day 6
Welcome! As Kcuster83 said, there is a lot of great information and experiences shared here but use your team's advice as the rule since everyone has a different set guideline to follow.

November 2022 surgery support!
Almost end of week 2, have been feeling great, no pain barely any discomfort and can drink my water at a decent pace. When I hit my water goal, barely hungry. Tomorrow I start my pureed/mushy stage, excited to try the recepies I have seen online for this stage.

What do you wish you would have known more about before WLS?
Reading this forum, speaking to my team and having people 6+months post op share their experience prepared me. The only thing so far that I did not expect was the large incision when coughinh the first few days feels like a burning sensation, other than that I was prepared for worse and thought I will be sipping forever but so far so good.

Meds and water
Sips should be fine, I was given sips the day of surgery and after even when I wasnt supposed to have liquids, the nurse said a sip to make it go down is good

3 months post op Gastric sleeve
Are you able to add a protein shake to make sure you are getting your protein?

Hi around 400 is what our team said, after a few months around 600-700

Pain on left side stomach and back
I used to have that left side pain and a burning sensation, my team explained that the bigger incision since its deeper it is stitched using a muscle and that some movements cause that pain. After that made sense to me, I do not even feel it. Do ask your team to make sure and track any other changes to be safe.

Just had my gastric bypass surgery on Tuesday
I used to do the same with the Slimfast I boight on the preop. Are you able to have bean soup? I also doctor up the broth so it is better tasting by adding garlic and some herbs, or just plain make chicken soup for the family and eat the broth

Water whoopsie
I'm 10 days out and did the same, not 4 ounces but less. I didn't feel anything other than my pouch making some noises, but I went back to sips.

I'm wondering if it is any of the medications, have you reached out to your team? Most of my support group has mentioned it with nausea or if its too cold

November 2022 surgery support!
It was hard but I kept reminding myself that this was a live or die situation and that made me strong. Even now when I do not feel like getting protein in I remind myself of the why and the overall benefits

Sorry to hear about the dry heaving. I only had cough and it was mainly because of the incentive spirometer which is supposed to cause cough to clear out the lungs. Are you also having nausea? Are you pacing yourself when drinking?
