Hope this times a charm...
Well, December 14th was a bust. Got to the hospital,(1 hour 15 minutes away) got in the hospital gown, waited til surgery time, and THEN the hospital told the Dr that there were no beds! He was as upset as I was. So home again I went....... now I don't know when it will be. [emoji20]

Cardiac patients?
All these things written are of interest to me. Me sleeve is scheduled for December 14th, I'm 64 and have a difibrillator. My lupus has damaged my heart. So I hope in to my cardiologist every 3 months to have my defibrillator checked and to see my Dr. Then yearly for the nuclear stress test, echo, and the rest. All my specialists as well as my PCP feel this needs to be done as an emergency for my health. I didn't know Medicare would pay or I would have looked into it earlier. But here I am now. Ready, most definitely willing, and very eager!

Covid Testing Prior to surgery
I had to do one when they originally scheduled my sleeve in August. Ended up with hernia repair instead. It was MASSIVE, 1/3 of my stomach was in my chest. My sleeve is now rescheduled for December 14th. So I imagine a few days before I'll have to go get another covid test. The coordinator schedules it.

Surgery Nov. 29th
Congratulations. I'm envious. Mine is the 14th of December but I started this journey in July 2021, so any extra days is a loooonnnng wait you'll do well. I haven't had this surgery before but I've had 36 surgeries and so I don't really get nervous anymore. I just can't wait! You're so close to a new life in a new body!

Finally got my date!!!
Been waiting since July 2021. My date for the sleeve is December 14th 2022. I am so thrilled! And ready. I've lost 40 lbs in that time. It seems sizable to some but not near enough for my health. That's why the sleeve. And I have so much support, and so much encouragement. It makes me feel very special. Anybody else out there in december???

Hope this times a charm...
I went in in August for a sleeve, but when the Dr got in there he found a massive haital hernia. 1/3 of my stomach was sucked into my chest. He fixed that and I started the waiting game, again... just got my new date! December 14th. I'm so ready. I started this journey in July 2021. Anyway, what a way to close 2022!

Hopefully November sleeve!
Yes it is. It's been since June of 2021 I've been waiting and jumping thru the hoops. It was very disappointing in August that it wasn't done but necessary. So I've just been trying to be patient.

Hopefully November sleeve!
I'm so ready for this. I was scheduled for August 16th for the sleeve but when they got in there the Dr found a massive haital hernia. So it took priority and now it's almost healed. They said November surgery. Just called the Dr's office and they said they'll have the scheduler get hold of me. Yay!!!

New to group,sleeve 8/16
It was a lot better. But still a disappointment it wasn't taken care of years ago. I knew I had it but was told by the Dr I saw about it , yes you have a haital hernia but your just FAT, and not worth my time! Then he left. So I never checked on it again. But such no is life..... I got it taken care of and the Dr was kind to me.

New to group,sleeve 8/16
Sorry it took so long to answer. I had to get it first. My hernia was HUGE!!!!! 1/3 of my stomach was up in the esophagus! The doctor said he could have stuck his fist up inside instead of a thumb. So it's going to take 3 months to completely heal so I don't have problems later.

Hey what do you do when you wake up and you didn't get sleeve but got bad hernia repaired? It was such a let down. I now have to wait 3 months. I know they had to do it but, I've wanted this so long, it really hurt.....

New to group out of California, surgery set for 8/22
Is that at Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center? That's where I'm going. In fountain Valley. Never been there before this. But I really like what I see in my Dr and staff. My insurance group sent me there. I was just happy they'd pay. I've been wanting this for years but didn't think it a possibility. I'm so incredibly thankful! Good luck!

Trying to find the right insurance- California
I have Blue Shield my surgery was approved a week after PC Dr submitted. They have a lot of things they want you to complete but all in all I feel more prepared because of all the meetings (virtual) I attended. I learned a lot and am as ready as one can get (I think)!

New / From Oregon / Surgery in Nampa Idaho
Hi Shannon I'm Michelle, I can address one of your concerns. 1. Constipation. In a group session they recommended a tea called Smooth Move. It helps they say. You can buy it on Amazon. They have it in several flavors. I'm getting some because I don't need that problem either. 2. I also have a problem with kidney stones. So I just plan on sipping away all day every day. I don't think There's any other way. Good luck! I get my sleeve in 2 days on the 16th. And I can't wait for a new lease on life either!!!

Looking for 8/16 sleeve buddies!
Surgery isn't bad at all. And if you follow Dr's orders it goes better after. I haven't had this kind before but I've had approx 40 surgeries. 20 just to keep walking. I'm 63 and I'm not worried. I'm just looking forward to the result! I need this to stay healthy and to enjoy life. And I plan on doing both!!! I've wished this were possible for years when my Dr said insurance would cover I about jumped for joy. Relax as much as you can. It'll make it easier. I'm also on 8/16. And am.nearly to cou ting hours I'm so happy. You got this!!!
