Dr. Weaver, Dr. Metz, Dr. Georgescu
I live in Denver, Colorado and I am a former patient of Dr. Kirshenbaum. I have seen several recommendations regarding the Dr.'s who are open to seeing Dr. K's patients. Currently, I have found Dr.'s Metz, Weaver and Georgescu. Is there anyone that knows the procedures that the above Dr.'s use. Example add Fluid, patient drink Water, and depending on the flow, either add or remove additional fluid. Thank you.

Dr. Matthew Metz - Love my Dr. Metz
It has been a looong time. How are you doing? I haven't been on here in ages. I see that you have been having trouble, I hope things are looking up. Me, not too bad, been a busy summer with one daughter in a nasty divorce, and two others getting married within 2 weeks of each other. I made it thru all three, now maybe it will settle down a bit. Since receiving my letter informing of Kirshenbaum's retirement, I thought I should see what is said about Dr. Metz. I have heard and read a lot of good things about him. So when they do a fill, do they do the trick of adding, drinking, and then either adding or removing more, all with one needle, I have heard that some Dr.'s will add a small amount and not have you drink anything. Anyway I go tomorrow for my last visit with Tom and will then be transferring to Dr. Metz. I will keep better in touch with you....Thanks for the advice.

Can anyone explain what Dr. Metz's procedure is for fills? Does he use ultra sound, etc.? Thanks!

Too Tight?
Is there anyone that can tell me where and what the pain is when you are too tight? Lately I have been having pains after I eat. They start around my lower left back and wraps part way around to the front. It doesn't matter what or when I eat. It has gotten worse over time. Shortly after eating it starts and hurts like HELL:scared2:. If I can make it come back up then I am fine. Last night I wasn't even able to eat yogurt. I have been to my primary doc and have had several tests done but they find nothing, and say the band is in good position.

Pain in lower back
From the scans already taken, the band is in "optimal position". That was great news, since it was my first concern that the band had slipped. Actually, it didn't take but a time or two to realize that I had to change my eating habits, chewing, portions, bite sizes, etc. It is strange, I ate a granola bar this morning and the pain was horrible. This evening I had some steak at supper time and no pain. It doesn't matter what or when, it has a mind of its own on when it wants to strike. In several weeks I will have go in for a EGD. Can't say that I am looking forward to it. I also have an appointment with my band surgeon next week, think I will pick his brain on what he thinks also.

Pain in lower back
Yep, only after I eat, but then not every time.

Pain in lower back
Hi! I was banded July 2008, everything is going great except, the last few months (since December) I have had this horrible pain (after I eat) that goes from my left lower back to the the left lower abdomin (sp). I have been going to the Dr., had a CT, Upper GI, xrays, blood work, etc. At first he thought it was kidney stones, then diverteculitas (sp) and now am to go see a specialist. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Hello all, I"m new here
Hi! Glad you are here. There is so much information to be had. Have you had any consultants with Drs yet? I also, do a lot of reading and very little posting, but it is nice to have a place to get your questions answered.

Since the new updates, a few of us have not been receiving email notices when there are new posts to threads that we are subscribed to, along with not being able to long on to lapbandtalk.com at all with out several tries. Is there something that we need to update on our settings? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

time off work
I had my surgery on a Thursday, since I have a desk job, planned to go back to work on the Monday (3 days), but when I woke up on Monday I decided to call in. I did go back on Tuesday, stayed for 6 hours but should have left earlier. It took til the end of the week before I actually made it thru the whole day.

After surgery...fill experiences
I more nervous about having my first fill than the actual surgery, when I got to the doctor office the staff could tell by the look on my face. Anyway, he laid me down rubbed antibiotic solution on me, used an ultrasound to make sure where the port was, then inserted the needle, didn't numb me, had me sit up and drink a lot of water. To be honest it wasn't bad at all, I will say that when they pull the needle out of the port it is a very strange feeling.

Vitamins!!!
For Vitamins I've been using chewables. I have tried several brands of calcium, the best liquid (so far) I have ordered from drugstore.com. The name is Wellesse (sp), at first it is a little chaulky tasting but I have gotten used to it. I will say don't try KAL brand, it is very thick and tastes horrible, it was a chore to keep it down. I haven't had any hair loss but have heard about a lot of hair loss around the 3rd to 4th month so been taking Biotin.
