Was traveling home yesterday and spent a few hours in the airport. Brought out the laptop to do some work. About a half hour into it I realized I was actually using my laptop on my LAP for the first time. I have a lap!!!

I am an old fashioned big knicker girl. No bits of dental floss for me. I would never ever put my knickers to dry outside on the washing line. Now they are so tiny, they make me smile, still big knickers but tiny big knickers

When I went into my surgery 17 months ago, I had an A1C almost at 8, and that was with control. The day after my surgery they took me off all diabetes meds. Just had a very comprehensive set of tests done, and it was 5.4; not even pre-diabetic anymore.

I was on vacation and needed a strapless bra for my outfit - the bra that I packed with me was a 44DD and it was literally falling off of me, I even tried stuffing it and putting a sports bra over it but it was wayyyy too big. I borrowed someone’s with a 36 band and it was tight but it worked! I couldn’t tell you the last time I was able to borrow someone’s piece of clothing and have it actually fit!

Latest NSV: The sneakers I wear almost on a daily basis have shoelaces AND a side zipper. I tied them once in October 2023, when I first got them, and only use the zipper to put them on and take them off. Since my surgery in January, I’ve had to retie my laces twice, because the shoes are too loose now!

    I have three.
    1. I have reached that point where my armpits are actually pits. Weird.
    2. I can feel my hip bones. And my hip bones can feel stuff. Weirder.
    3. I can row on the rower with my knees inside my arms instead of outside my arms. The weirdest.
It feels so strange but I love it.

IKWYM! I put on a size 16 not expecting to get them past my thighs let alone button them, but my 22's were getting dangerously loose, luckily baggy is in. Not only did they get past my thighs but I was able to button them without laying down or sucking in. I was in tears. I mean you know you'll get results but going from 26-28 to 16 in 6 months just puts me in awe. My youngest(12F) told me today she saw an old picture of me and didn't realize until that moment just how much weight I had lost.

I'm almost four months post op and I still have two shakes per day in the form of proffees. I can't afford to stop them. I hit higher protein goals because I do cardio/strength training five days per week and I couldn't eat that much protein from solid foods. As for vitamins, I will never stop taking them. My surgeon stressed how important it was to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiencies by staying on top of my supplements, (and having regular blood tests) because once they occur it's much harder to bring the levels back up, so it's just not worth going against that medical advice. I trusted my surgeon enough to operate on my body, so surely I'm going to trust her advice on preventing V&D deficiencies so I will follow her advice forever.
To the OP: I would say that life is probably easier for you post op in many ways after losing weight, the trade off is your guts have been rerouted, and you can't compromise on supplements and protein. Have you had your vitamin and minerals checked via blood test? Talk to your team and see if they approve these changes, take their advice firstly because they know your medical needs.
    Best wishes!

Meeting your protein goals is really a "For the rest of your life" thing, just like with vitamins. Which we would have to do even without having the surgery, it's just that now with the surgery, it will be so much harder to fit in all those great nutrients, which is why we need to have more nutrient dense foods to fuel our bodies. The amount you need to eat per day depends on what your Height and Weight is.
The good news is that this doesn't have to be in Protein shake form. You can do it just with diet. If you have a dietician, it's worth chatting to them about other ways to get your daily protein in. Some people just find the shakes easier. Others are happy eating it in their daily food.
Below are a bunch of foods high in protein, you can make amazing meals with these and get all your daily protein without using shakes

I finally had to go shopping for jeans. I have went up and down so much over the years I had a HUGE range of sizes so I have been just working through the clothes I had in my closet.
    Well 2 NSV's this weekend:
1, I have shrunk out of all the stocked sizes, which means I am officially the smallest I have been in my adult life!
2, Size 16 fits loose! 14 is uncomfortably tight but did (barely) button! (Started my journey at a size 26)

I went to visit a potential preschool for my daughter with my wife last week. We were shown around and the teacher asked us to sit in one of the classes to explain their programs to us etc. They only had those small kindergarten chairs / stools. I asked for an adult chair and they didn't have any on that floor. I ended up setting on the kids chair and I was so worried that the poor chair was going to break. Well it didn't and it was OK when we left ?. I wanted to ask my wife to take a photo of me sitting on that chair but the teacher was there haha. My daughter was so happy that I was sitting on the table and playing with her. Best feeling ever
