  1. Could she know you had surgery? If she might know then being honest would be the best avenue. Some people may be able to identify with your eating routines if they see you eat? Not many, but a few? I know if I saw someone(who had lost a lot of weight) eating tiny little bites of food and chewing like it was my last bite of food on this earth i might suspect something? tmf
  2. And so often it's folks who could use the band themselves. Jealousy? Envy you had the courage to actually make a difference? Or the "I cut out french fries for a month and ran 3 miles" group? You'll never please everyone but you seem to be pleasing yourself? Good job! tmf
  3. X-nay on the omit-vay tmf
  4. Eggs of all kinds happen to be one of the biggest offenders to the band. On the plus side, you know you have restriction now?
  5. Almost everyone who loses weight uses a tool. According to many studies, our tool continues to work for years and years. Jenny Craig, Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Slim-fast, nutrisystem, Zone and so on and so on are all tools to lose weight. The fact is, only 15% of obese patients on these programs keep the weight off after 5 years.
  6. I've told this story before: I told everyone. I work from home. The Fedex guy came to the door and I pulled up my shirt and said "Look what I did"!! Yes, I know, what a maroon? Still, I told everyone I know. Wish I wouldn't have now but it's hard to disagree with the real me
  7. WOW! That's a great NSV story!
  8. Welcome to "Bandster HELL"! I was in BH for about 4 months. It will get easier but not soon. A fill may or may not minimize the deprivation. You should follow your doctors orders. This stage is like being on a diet and therefore the phrase "until there's restriction...It's just anothe diet". I never liked the feeling of being deprived and being uncomfortable when I dieted. So, during my BH phase I ate healthy foods but probably more calories than recommended so I didn't have those feelings. But, not until I was allowed to eat a normal diet(30 days out). The stage you're in will be tough to endure, but you must follow the rules till you are healed. tmf
  9. So I'm sorry to be too graphic here but remember, someone filled your body cavity full of gas, they pumped fluids, medications, antibiotics and anesthesia into your body. They punched 5 holes in your body, moved all your inner body parts around, shoved a tube down your throat, wrapped a plastic strap around your stomach, stitched in place with 5-6 sutures bringing your lower stomach up over the band and then snaked a tube out of your body and then sewed another plastic piece to the muscle tissue on your rib cage. Now, thinking about all that has been done to your body, you're doing quite well aren't you?
  10. I don't mean to be critical of your wanting the sleeve, but you should analyze why you want to make the change? Are you expecting too much of a tool? The sleeve can be just a tool too. If you can't follow the rules now, can you with the sleeve? Not everyone is successful with the sleeve you know? Both take work and commitment. tmf
  11. The only way to conquer your head hunger is to set up some kind of mental system where you ask yourself before you put food in your mouth, "am I really hungry" and then you can act on that information. Do you decide to put the food down or shove it in your mouth? I'm not saying you will always make the right decision, I know I don't always make the right decision, but after 1 year I'm finally training myself to think before I eat. tmf
  12. Fred is right. Don't expect your experiences to mirror someone else's. There are some basic rules that should be followed to avoid injuring yourself or the integrity of the surgery. Follow your surgeon's instructions. tmf
  13. Fluids will always pass through with no problem with or without a fill and even if you're in the green zone.
  14. I agree with everyone. Just imagine that large bolus of food pressing on the stomach lining of your pouch and then the stoma. You'll probably experience a little swelling from this. It's like a bruise so maybe for the next 12-24 hours eat soft foods and don't challenge your band so the swelling goes away?
  15. What is billed and what is paid can be thousand$ apart.
  16. Go to top of this page, click on your name and click on profile. Then click on edit profile and click on change photo.
  17. Beer contains empty calories. Since you're taking in limited calories there's not a lot of room for such an extravagance? I faced the exact same concern 3 months out and my nut said if I wanted to lose weight I'd have to give up on some of my fetishes. Beer is one of them. Beer also lowers your will power to avoid snacking and late night eating. Try to limit your consumption to maybe 2 beers a week. Once you get to your goal weight you may be able to add beer back into your routine? tf
  18. Relax, what you commented on is very common. I lost 12 lbs the first 2 weeks and then nothing for the next 3.5 months. Here's a video that confirms everything everyone else has posted. You're doing super!
  19. Ibuprofen? Did your doctor clear you to take ibuprofen? It's one of those drugs that are on most all docs list of no no drugs? Tylenol is OK but supposedly ibuprofen can cause ulcers if they get hung up in your pouch. tmf
  20. I wouldn't force fluids to the point you're uncomfortable or your stomach is distended.
  21. Treat yourself to some refried beans(throw a sprinkle of low fat cheese on it) or egg drop Soup, lentil soup, Soups with soft noodles. Add in sweet potatoes mashed of course.
  22. Well Hello! How ya feelin? You sound rather chipper for 1 week out? tmf
