  1. Mine also says 1 year. I am thinking I am going to be trying right around my 1 year mark
  2. I can relate to sooo many of these. I think that this one is probably my WORST that I can think of right now: When I was 20 I was working as an activities director for an assisted living home. My (now husband) had just proposed and we were planning our wedding. I was making in room visits when I heard some of the women chatting in a room. Low and behold they were talking about ME! One lady was saying that if I didnt do something about my weight there was no way my (then fiance) would ever want to stay with me. I just couldnt believe that they would say that. I was sooo devestated. I could've went home and cried and cried. But, I just sucked it up until the day was over.
  3. I know this is probably not what you are looking for...But...I was having problems with panic attacks starting July 2007. I askd for prayer at church and havent had any since. They were really bad and pretty frequent. I would have diareah, nasea, light headedness and chills. All I could do when it happened was feel like crying, because I thought I was going to die. Anyways, I really believe that the prayer is the reason they went away.
  4. YAY! I need to start back on mine...my BMI has went down a few numbers since the last time I was on
  5. 7 weeks and down 33 pounds  LOVE MY BAND! No fills yet
  6. I also weigh every day. I think that it is a good indicator on how you are doing and will help you spot the way certain foods affect you. I havent been beating myself up for not losing everyday. I used to weigh every time I went in to the bathroom, but now, I only weigh in the morning after the potty.
  7. I actually told almost everyone at work (about 10) individually that I was having the surgery. This was after I had a date set and was getting ready to be off. They were all thinking I was preggo because of all of my "dr appointments". LOL. So, I handled each peron directly so that if they had any questions they new I was there to answer them. Also, if I told everyone myself, I didnt have to worry about others telling. I know that this kind of thing just gets out so I started it myself. ONe funny thing: The monday after I came back to work there was a huge article agains bypass surgery on the front page of the newspaper :w00t: so, everyone was like, did you read? But, everyone is very supportive and it is nice to have people constantly telling me I am doing good
  8. I have the flinstones chewables and they make me want to gag when I eat them. I keep it in my pocket trying to convince myself all day to just "take it". Do the centrum chewables taste any better?
  9. I didnt think it seemed like enough bites for a meal  I was thinking...Man, my bites are small and 5 bites is like nothing.
  10. Congrats on the slice and dice  I actually really enjoyed my broth while still in the hospital. It was a little harder at home to find one that I really liked. I did sugar free Jello, but sugared popcicles. When I moved onto mushies I had regular pudding and yogurt. I didnt have any problems...
  11. Thanks Everyone! Tammy- I am very pleased Chicky - I'm sending some luck your way  Bill - Yay on no more obese...I can't wait to be there Daco - Thank you, and you will be a lot farther by summer too! OhWhyNot - I don't do Protein drinks either...Good luck! Danni - Congrats on the loss so far
  12. Today was my 5 week appointment and I didnt need a fill :blushing: I was down 30 pounds and my nurse was really great! She said she could really tell a difference in my size and that I was doing well. I am in the "green zone". I am hungy other than my meal times and I am eating less than a cup at a time :cursing: So, I have another appointment in 4 weeks. I wonder if I will need a fill then. I'm still not sure how big my band is or how much saline I have in it now, there was some placed in the band when it was inserted. I have a 2 hour drive each way. After the appointment I stopped at chilis and had salmon and broccolli. That was my day today :tongue2: I am very excited about how things are going.
  13. thanks everyone. I dont know why I didnt read all these before my appointment. I actually didnt mention it, because I met with the nurse and not the Dr. It didnt hurt as bad today, but if it still hurts tomorrow I think I will call.
  14. I love mine too...Havent quite cancelled my gym membership yet, but I think I will :rose:
  15. I don't know if this is band related or not. I am 5 weeks post op and a couple of days ago my left shoulder has been killing me. I have not pulled any muscles or anything. It just started out of no where. The pain is from my collar bone to my shoulder. It hurts sometimes when I am breathing and swallowing. I have my 5 week appointment tomorrow, and I am just wondering if this is something that I mention to the surgeon, or if it is in no way related. I've even used a heating pad and no help. Thanks everyone!
  16. I had the same problem. I think it was longer than a week, then about once a week since then. I wouldnt worry yet :rose:
  17. Wiring mouth shut for weight loss? at first I was thinking NO WAY is that true! Then, google to the rescue, it is a form of WLS. SCARY!
  18. We had steak crab and asparagus. Today, I didnt measure. I put everything onto my salad plate and then I ate half of what I put on there. For desert, we stopped at baskin robbins and shared a kids scoop of ice cream. I had maybe 5 small bites. I actually didnt want any more than that.
  19. I definately agree with the small plate and bowls. I have a ton of 1/2 cup bowls and I use those for my lunches. When I eat at home I measure and then put on small plat. It takes up more than half of the plate usually. I was suprised at how it looked :crying:
  20. I hope it goes fast for you too! I was very please with the time it took. Imagine, if I had to do a 6month diet, I would still be dieting!
  21. My process was about 4 months. My surgeon is usually booked so I had my PCP appt in Sept. They put my first approval through insurance and that took about 3 weeks...then my seminar was almost a month later. I had all my nutritionist/psychologyst/pap and bloodwork done in that month. After seminar it took 3 weeks for my first appt. After that they submitted to insurance for final approval and I was approved in about a week. Surgery scheduled out to Jan. 12th (the earliest available was Jan 1st, but I needed 2 weeks notice to take the time off). So, it took about 4 months total. I have blue cross and I was under the impression from the boards that I would have to do 6 months, but they did not require  YAY! The time actually went by really fast! Hope it doesnt take too long for yours. Are you self pay or insurance?
  22. I think you would be ok with mushy foods...yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese. I think this stage helps get you used to the texture things should be when you swallow regular food (if that makes sence). I am 4 weeks out and I still have trouble eating some foods (probably more mental than anything). I havent had steak, bread, Pasta or anything like that.
  23. I am 4 weeks post op. I went about a week without going the first week, then it seem to be about a week inbetween still...HMMM...I should probably add something. I don't REALLY feel bad, its just weird because I was regular before. Like someone else...I get excited when it happens too  Just nice to know I still work correctly...
  24. Immediately after going to my room, i thought I had to pee. But, I just couldnt. I sat there and then went back to bed. I tried a few times throughout the day and still nothing. Then, the nurse said I had half an hour or they were going to do a cath. So, I went in the bathroom and sat there until I could go. I never thhought I would have to work so hard just to do something as normal as peeing
  25. during my mushy stage I was supposed to have 1/4 to 1/3 C at a time, and I was supposed to eat 3 meals a day.
