  1. Congratulation and well done! I'm glad you are enjoying your time with your granddaughter
  2. Good luck reaching you goals. Getting off the meds is definitely a major goal.
  3. I'm lucky that I didn't have any health issue despite being obese. We have diabetes in our family (both sides) and my changes of getting it was very high. I'm planning to take my kids to a theme park in December and I can't wait to try all the rides now that I can
  4. You made the right choice for sure! I hope you are feeling better already
  5. I've always dreaded flying. Having to always ask for seat belt extenders and getting "the look" whenever I get up to go to the toilet and ask the person next to me to move. Not anymore ?. I flew back home in July 22 and for the first time in 20+ years I didn't need the extenders. I felt veery comfortable in my coach seat and there was enough room between my belly and the food tray. Looking forward to my next flight already
  6. I hope all goes well with you. Good luck with the surgery
  7. Hi. I know that we all had our different reasons for having WLS. I did it because I was fed up with yo-yo dieting. I was on-off Keto diet for over two years. I've lost some weight and gained it all back in the end. The longest I've stayed on diet was 5 months and that paid off really well (lost 25 kg). But then Covid-19 hit. I was about to go back to Keto diet in January 22 when my sister called to tell me she was going for the mini gastric bypass. That was the first time time I've heard of it. Fast forward three weeks and I'm on the plane flying to Egypt to have mine. My "breaking point" was finally going back to work in the office and having to remove the arm rests of my office chair because it somehow "shrunk" and was squeezing my thighs. How about you? What made you decide to have the surgery and what was the breaking point?
  8. I totally agree with this approach. Learning from one's "mistakes" is the way to go.
  9. I agree with the others. The best advice that my sister (who had her surgery three weeks before mine) gave me was to chew, chew and chew some more. Take your time and stop eating if it starts to hurt. You will learn your limits as you go. I found that black pepper was the culprit in my case and I stopped adding it to my food until 3 months after the surgery. Chicken, meat and eggs were particularly difficult for me. Yogurt (low fat) was my go to food. Also try to avoid drinking water for at least half an hour after you eat. It will be difficult at first but it will get better. Hang in there!
  10. It makes sense to wait until the weight stabilizes. I'm struggling with clothes now as I have to buy new ones almost every other month. I can't do the same with my wedding ring tho. I will keep the old one and just get another fitting one. Maybe do it next year for our 10th wedding anniversary ?
  11. I totally agree. I've bought new clothes from brands that I've always wanted to get but couldn't and it feels awesome every time I have it on. Well done!
  12. That is awesome! I was also fatter around the waist and had big thighs to match. Not anymore now. I've a balanced body shape now but still need to lose some more weight.
  13. Congratulations and well done! I started buying jeans that are 4 - 6 size smaller and keep on trying them on to see if they fit haha. To lazy to use a measuring tape. I have bought new khaki's from my favorite brand in size 32" and can't wait to be able to wear them. I'm now wearing size 36".
  14. Thank you!
  15. Congratulations and well done! I can't wait to reach mine. 29 Kg to go
  16. I've lost 50 kg so far (in 8 months) and my wedding ring keeps on sliding off my finger when my hands get wet. Planning to get it replaced in December.
  17. Now that is interesting! Have fun. You deserve it
  18. Congrats! Good luck reaching your goal. You got this ?. A vacation in Hawaii is perfect. Enjoy
  19. A side by side comparison between my 35th birthday photo and the current one (I didn't take one for my 40th birthday yet but the photo on the right was taken a day before at Site).
  20. Thank you so much! I couldn't agree more.
  21. Yay! I was avoiding the scale over the past few days and only checked this morning to find myself below 100 kg! I can't remember the last time I was at this weight but I'd say at least 20 years ago. What a pleasant and timely surprise. I turned 40 yesterday. So excited for my next birthday already ?.
  22. That is amazing! I'm glad you are feeling better now and don't need your meds anymore.
