Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
9, I have no idea what could be wrong, but I'm very sorry you're not feeling good. You're right, I think most of us felt better at one week out. I hope you and Dr. K get to the bottom of it soon. Deb, good to see you. It feels like fall here too today. It's been cooler, and just now it is starting to rain. Prty and Mal, how was the 5K today? I'm glad the weather was nice for you this morning. Are you tired and sore? You Denver band girls are so athletic..I wonder if it is contagious? My daughter is home this weekend from college. We went to the Avs game Fri night, and Rapids Soccer last night. Today we recovered a fabric headboard for our guest room. So, it's been fun hanging out together. We got gourmet cupcakes from this place at Colfax & Steele. She was shocked that I could not finish a cupcake! yeah band!

Adork, Oh, I know what you mean. My bandster hell month was just like that. I sure hope your doc can fix what is going on and that there really is no leak or anything. As for the antidepressants, I know it varies for everybody. Do what you think is best. I have found out that I do better without them. I'm down to 1/8 of a pill (3mg) of effexor, and I am trying my best to taper to zero. Somepeople do best taking them for a lifetime, others do best taking them to get through an episode. Do what you think is best for you! And, you are very welcome to jump in the hot tub over here in Denver anytime you feel like it! Dr. K said I could go in now, so I enjoyed a nice soak with lots of bubbles and nice fruity scented bath crystals this week. In fact, think I will do it again today. jme, I don't have a tatt..but it seems it would make sense to wait until you reach your goal weight so the skin is nice and tight and the design won't change with shrinking Prty, I feel for you. I've sure had that type of thing said about me before. I think nurses are perfectionists, and just having a patient or coworker upset with you is bad enough, but for her to take a stab at how you look is just uncalled for. I'm sorry! Enjoy your 5K tomorrow, and focus on how much healthier you are now, and how much better you feel and look. Phooey on that woman. Bahot, my daughter played club and varsity volleyball too, and I sure believe you how crazy and competitive some of the MOTHERS can be! I know it is a huge investment of your time and money. I'm sorry they are being so petty. Those womoen are just jealous you know, as you look great. Mini, I'm so happy to hear your son is okay. I'm sure that was one of those terrible parenting moments that gives us mom's gray hair. Hugs for you! Well all, 2 days after my fill, I'm delighted to say that I finally feel that I have had the surgery and that it's working. I can only imagine that for now I'm in the green zone. I am eating small amounts, not snacking between meals, and not hungry between meals. Truly amazing! Last night we had sushi and edemame for dinner. I split the small steamed edemame with my daughter, and could only eat 4 pcs of sushi from my 8 pc try. My daughter was shocked! Happy weekend - and good luck to Prty and Mal on the 5 K - we want to hear all about it.

Mini, I gained 2 in week 3, but lost 2 in week 4, so guess that means zero? LOL! Glad to say that even with my small fill I finally do feel some restriction and sense that a band is actually in there working.

Munch, sorry you are going through this insanity with your neighbors. I don't know how you losing 1 dog is going to improve their lives at all. makes no sense. Jme, have fun at the beach. Glad your foot is okay.

No, you guys were right. In fact, he was looking at the wrong page in my chart or something, because in his dication he said I had lost weight - LOL.

just 1.8cc...he said he'd rather err on the side of underfilling than overfilling, which makes sense. I made another appointment for a month from now.

Lotza, absolutely, prayers your way..hope all turns out to be nothing jme, I did the same thing a few years ago. There is nothing they can do. Take a pair of tennis shoes, and leave the sole intact, but cut the toe portion off with a box cutter. That way you can wear shoes that don't hurt. Sorry! Tally, don't buy anything! I'll bring you a coat or sweatshirt when I get you at the airport..I have plenty and we don't want to be buying stuff until we get into the single digits, right? I had my first fill today. It was not fun. I had no idea that they kept the needle in your for several minutes while you sit up, drink water, etc. Thanks for the tip to bring my own icewater. It was a lot easier to tell whether I had restriction with the cold water.

Wow, good luck! Hey, Porter is just right up the road from me, we could meet for lunch, or happy hour sometime! Thanks Mini, I really wanted to talk about what I like about PACU, and how I want to interact with those patients, but there just didn't seem to be an opening in the conversation for that topic. I've been there before..LOL, we ALL have here, and feel there is so much the nurse can do to help there. Thanks all for alleviating my apprehension about gaining weight. you're right, we do beat ourselves up over that. My ex was not too nice about my weight, and I think a lot of those negative messages are still in my head. Phooey on him. I'm not nervous at all about the fill itself. I had acupuncture today for my work comp back injury thing. OMG now that was pain to get 4" needles in various spots from my butt down to my ankles! YIKES! So one little fill in the tummy is nothing. Will update tomorrow, hopefully with happy news ladies!

Also...I'm nervous that Dr. K is going to be irritated that I gained weight since my surgery. I bet I'm up 4 or 5 lbs! Is that stupid?

Thanks Deb! How are you feeling since your first fill? Can you eat "normally" now, whatever that means for a bandster? Happy with your restriction? I've heard it takes 2 or 3 fills to get in the green zone. I just put some broccoli cheese soup with skim milk in the blender, so will heat that up for lunch at work tomorrow. I also have some jello in the fridge at work in case of a snacking emergency! Munch, thanks for the words of encouragement. I know from my current job that shadowing is as much about the other nurses liking you, as it is about you seeing if their department is where you really want to work. So, wish me luck that I fit in with the "popular girls"! You know the drill....

Prty, what good news! How nice that now you have some time to plan what you want to do next, and that insurance might really help. Munch, So sorry they are being jerks again. Karma will get them in the end. I had my PACU interview today, and think it went well. They invited me to come back next week for a shift to shadow in preop and pacu. My first fill is tomorrow. It is 9a.m. I usually pack my lunch. Any ideas on what I should plan to eat? What instructions does Dr. K give after the 1st fill?

My Surgery was Yesterday and Today I am having second thoughts!!!!!
I'll tell you the truth...it is going to get worse. Tomorrow will not be fun, and neither will the next day. But, starting on day 4 you will feel less pain, have more energy, and feel like walking more. Hang in there, you made the right choice.

Welcome to the bench! Try a heating pad on the belly. Go Tally! Call it like you see it. Welcome also to the bench! Glad you are doing so great. Prty, my daughter and I looked up the Russia to Alaska distance. If you count the outer islands, it is 3 miles. If you count peninsula to peninsula it is 50 miles. Did you see the latest Tina Fay parody of the Katie Couric interview? lol!!!!!

Adork, Next time you visit Denver, come on over! We'll sit in the hot tub and have some vino. I keep mine sparkling clean, no bacteria in here, honest. But I did listen to you veterans and did not go in. My fill is this week, so I'll ask Dr. K's permission then. Deb, I am inspired by your progress! I can't wait to have a fill and start losing weight already. How did you do at the casino? Munchkin, you GO GIRL! We Love ya! Prty, you are so right - I love that cheese, and such a calorie bargain, too. I used to eat it on celery, but have been scared to try that since getting the band. Hope everybody had a good weekend. I visited my daughter at college today. She's doing great, and always fun to spend time with her.

It's been 12 day's, Why am I still so tired
What you are experiencing is totally normal. It is from the anesthesia. It takes at least 4 weeks to get it all out of your system. Hang in there, it will get better soon.

HOT TUB? Did anybody ask Dr. K how long you have to wait after surgery before going in a hot tub or pool? I have had the week from you-know-where, and really would like to go in my hot tub. Today, went to car dealership for a new headlight bulb and an oil change.....$900 later... you know how that goes Adork, Love your photos with your hubby. He's adorable and you two look great together. Mini, I"m in a snit and refusing to get on the scale. Let me check in with you after I get my first fill next week. Munch, it sounds like your mom is freaking out. Does she have a therapist or anybody she can talk to about her anxiety with having a child in the military? As a mom, I can only imagine.... Tally, look at your ticker! you Have made so much progress already! Prty, thanks for the compliment on the lipstick. Have you read the book "How not to look old"? My girlfriend literally dragged me in to barnes and Noble and forced me to buy it. Great tips on not getting your look outdated. Well that's it girls, glad it is the weekend. I was so freaked out at the dealership that I left my briefcase there, so have to go back first thing in the morning...grrrr. So, any advice on that hottub would be great. My surgery scars look very sealed to me.

I completely ignored my ex after he dumped me 2.5 yrs ago. Has been the best decision ever. My Dad said, "just write him off", and I did. Buffet concerts are sooo much fun! have you read his books? There are too many characters and I just can't keep track of his plots. At our hospital we have a policy against dating patients. She should be reported. YES! My throat hurt so bad for 3 days. I got desperate, and had my daughter buy me that spray that tastes horrible, but numbs the back of your throat. Also had a lot of popsicles. Tally, don't forget that bikini you and I are going to make a million dollars designing that has the wide band to cover our scars! Have a great night, everybody!

Hi Deb, Glad to hear you are doing ok after you fill. It was great to meet you! Munch, I know I"m in the minority here, but I love the gray one. I can tell it would really show off your shape. Go for it! Adork, good to hear from you. That is weird about the fill levels. I am feeling fat fat fat. Went to a charity event tonight, did not like how I looked in my dress, but really didn't have time after work to fuss around with trying on other stuff. This one fit, but I just felt lumpy in it. And of course the issue yet again that I did not have a date for this event. Sorry, just feeling whiney and sorry for myself. I am frustrated with this bandster hell thing, have no restriction, hungry as per usual, and eating the wrong things. I want a fill, and i want a ticker that moves in the right direction already!!!! (my 1st fill is next week)

CHange in body odor
This can happen for a variety of reasons. The cure is pretty simple. Buy 3 different brands of deodorant other than the type you are using now. Use a different one every day. I just put the one I use in the morning behind the other two so I can keep track. You'll notice a difference right away.
