  1. Welcome! Glad to have you here Magaines! Munch, sorry for the parents angst..what a tough situation for everybody! hang in there
  2. congrats! Dr. K has his own thread here under "doctors and hospitals", basically we are his "FAN CLUB"! He is the best and you made a great choice. Good luck
  3. Wear your heavy jewelry and layer it on - turquoise nugget necklace, anything with stones, you get the idea~! good luck!!!
  4. Hey Marcy, You must be superwoman - taking care of 3 kids after surgery? I can't even motivate myself to go to the grocery store. Mal, great to see you again. Eggs were great, and for lunch had 2 small spoons each of tuna salad, canned carrots and applesauce. Yes, a lunch that would delight a toddler! It all went down fine and I am so pleased.
  5. Oh Deb, What a PIA! Sounds like you need a new scale and new batteries, too. The restaurant is north of Dr. K's., so less than 30 min to airport from there. I'll try to come asap after work!
  6. Brandy, I'm glad you are feeling better! I'd still call Dr. K., though just to tell him how you were feeling. Tally, are you ready to go back to work tomorrow? I have no idea how I am going to stay awake all day. I had scrambled eggs for breakfast, yeah!
  7. Anybody else have a hernia repair at the same time as getting their lap band put in? I didn't know I needed it, but woke up to find out I did and that my doc fixed it. Did this affect your recovery time/pain, etc.?
  8. Sorry Brandy, hang in there - as my Mom says, 'this too shall pass!", thinking of you.... I went to Dr. K's today for my 1 week check. Everything looking good, and he says the fatigue is normal. I'm supposed to progress to a soft diet now, and hopefully increased protein in the form of eggs, cottage cheese, tuna, chicken, etc. will give me some more energy. Hey Denver/Aurora gang: deboregon will be here Tues. 9/23- want to plan to meet for dinner at 5:30 at the Great Atlanta Bread Company, just north of Aurora Mall, in Aurora Town Center? Who's in???
  9. Bookholder, good to see you! The bodybugg sounds neat. Jmegirl, good plan to go 1st class. The good news is that with the walking you'll surely be sleeping the entire flight. Deb, sent you a PM. Green, Dr. K will do the realize band, but there is an extra charge. I think the water aerobics sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could join you! Mini and Munch, you two are cracking me up this morning! I see Dr. K today for my one week follow up appointment. I am feeling lots better, but glad that I have until off work until Thursday. Still get tired so easily. Think I will go whip up some mashed potatoes - lol !!!
  10. Deb, I suggested we meet at the Great Atlanta Bread Company which is just north of the Aurora Mall. They have great soups! how about 6pm? Tell us the date again of you fill.
  11. Jme, that is scary about your neighbor. Hope things quiet down soon. Brandy, I walked about 12 minutes to whole foods, about 15 minutes around the store, and 12 minutes home - that wiped me for the day. I ventured out into the yard later in the afternoon for a few minutes. I think it must just be shaking off the anesthesia since everything feels so exhausting. I haven't even needed Tylenol today. Am still doing full liquid diet. Mini, I am very thankful that I don't need to fly anywhere. Tally flew home today, and I can only imagine trekking through several airports feeling like I do. I'm glad I don't have to go back to work until Thursday. I"m not sure if I"m just being a baby, or if it is because Dr. K did a hernia repair also. My follow up appointment with him is on Tues. Thanks everybody for your cheering on. Today was a better day.
  12. Adork, your new glasses are completely fab! go girl Bahot, great deal on your dresses, we did the same thing senior year for my daughter, got the dresses long before the date I am starting to feel slightly human again today. Am going to take a shower and head outdoors for a little walk. I had some thin oatmeal and apple juice this morning. Didn't even take any tylenol. Think I might finally be turning the corner! yeah!
  13. Hi Everybody, On the pill issue, Dr. k did tell me that capsules were ok, but all pills must be crushed. i'm still feeling icky - no energy, and some pain. The protein drinks that I usually like just did not taste good. I'm going to try some grits this morning. I have a feeling like mild heartburn all the time, as if I swallowed a small piece of ice. Tell me this will all go away soon!!!
  14. I know how you feel - I had surgery on Wednesday, and am not having much fun at this point. But I know that this too shall pass! Hang in there.
  15. Hi All, Ack, the last 24 hours has not been so fun. With the anesthesia wearing off I'm having more pain, still sleepy a lot too. Am trying to only take tylenol so I can stay awake for more than 2 hours at a time. had some tomato soup today - what a treat!
  16. Hi everybody, Thanks again for your good wishes, I sailed through the surgery just fine. I did have a hernia, so Dr.K fixed it. I was having some pain and was nausated, so they gave me drugs for that. The surgery was at 1, and I think we left for home at 4:30. It was fun that when I was in the pre-op area, Deb was in the post-op area and we could see each other. They even let me go over thre for a few minutes to chat. You can tell the RN's love Dr. K! Thanks for saving me a seat on the losers bench!
  17. Thanks for all the good wishes, everybody! I will be happy to take a seat on the losers bench with you all. I taught the class this morning, came home took off my makeup, and have been puttering about for the last hour. My neighbor is going to drive me to the surgery center at 11. Can I whine that I am thirsty and hungry already? LOL! Later gators.....I'll be back when I'm an official band member!
  18. Welcome Florida Gator!!! I am also a gator, and am getting banded today. In fact, I am bringing my stuffed alligator to use as a pillow in the car on the way home. Best of luck to you, let me know if I can help at all. It's great...to be...a FLORIDA GATOR!
  19. Happy Band-Day! Thanks for posting right away. You are the September Samurai leader for the rest of us. I am tomorrow! Hope you are feeling great soon.
  20. Thanks Mini, I will post tomorrow night if I can. I'm teaching a class as a guest lecturer tomorrow at 8 am, then have to be at the surgery center at 11:30. I could have rescheduled the class, but thought it would be a pleasant diversion. I can have clear liquids until 9:00 a.m.,, so that will be a help. YIKES!
  21. Hi, my surgery is tomorrow too. i don't feel nervous, but then again I'm not sleeping yet! As for surgery, it is no biggie. You might feel groggy when you wake up, but you will be well medicated for pain. You won't remember anything from when they wheel you in until it is all over. Love that part! Good luck, and let me know how you do, ok?
  22. I don't think there is much you can do tonight, so try and relax. the preop diet is more about carb control to shrink the liver than calorie reduction. Tomorrow is my band day, too! let me know how your surgery goes, oK? yeah for us!!!
  23. Lifesaver, no wonder you are so buff! I didn't know you did bfl before. That program is not for sissies! Go girls! You and prty are going to be the fitness queens of the bandsters. Deb, I'm glad your doggie is doing okay. You must have been so nervous during it all. Lap, I love your fishy photo. How cool! I have an empty aquarium and have been thinking of setting it up again. Do you have saltwater or freshwater fish? Green and Lifesaver, thanks for the tip on the designer whey. I will give that a try. Well, my surgery is TOMORROW! I went to the support group meeting tonight at Dr. K's office, and it was great to meet more of his patients. I also finally got to meet Tally, who also is having her surgery tomorrow. So, wish me luck!
  24. LOL..I used to work in the haunted mansion - she looks like one of the reflections on the heads in the crystal ball! So, for the next challenge, please put me down for 8 lbs. I'll be in "bandster hell" at that time, so am being cautiously optimistic.
