  1. I have been banded for just over a year now. Two months ago I could proudly say that I had lost around 80 pounds. Things have changed so much since then. In July, my family went on a 2 week vacation. It was the best time ever. A day after we got home, I started getting sick. I won't go into the details of the illness. Now over a month later after loads of testing and biopsy, the doctors still have few answers about my illness and I am off track. I have gained 20 pounds back and am unable to exercise. I want to know if anyone else out there has been through some tough times and I want to know that it will get better. I want to know that I will stop gaining and start losing again. I need hope. Please someone help me out. Lost my heart, Momwithaband

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

:unsure:Hello everyone, I haven't posted in a while. I am doing okay. I have had a few bad episodes due to a tight fill and mucus build up. I a sinus infections and chest congestion a few days after my last fill. Not a happy person. I think I am going to try doing liquids only for the next couple of days to allow some tome to heal and get rid of this mucus. On the bright side, I have lost more weight and I just took a new picture. I also have been unable to go to the gym for the past week and a half. I was swimming 2000meters 3-5 times a week. I will go back on Monday. Has anyone else broken the habit of logging their food? I really need to start doing that again. I think a new beginning would be great!! Glad you are all doing well. Keep up the good work.

Oops! Eating too much and or too fast???

I have had a couple of bad episodes since my last fill. Tonight was the worst. Tonight I actually threw up. That is a scary thing when you know you are not supposed to because it is bad for your band. I have had some PBs and some foam. It is the pits. I know I have to watch what I am doing. I have had a very bad chest cold and sinus drainage and the mucus is backing up in my pouch and making it difficult to eat. After tonight's episode, I know I will be much more careful. I hve thought abpout going on just liquids for a few days until the mucus clears up. Anyone think this migth be a good idea?

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

Hey everyone. Just wanted to check in and see if any of you are having the same problem I am. I am so paranoid and anxious. I had to stop exercising for a few days and I am so anxious now. I am afraid of food and I am afraid of gaining the weight back. I am paranoid already (even when i am able to exercise). I just can't stop thinking about how I have lost so much and still feel so big. I am so concerned. I have to continually feel my collar bones and wrists to make sure that I haven't gained any unwanted weight. I worry constantly about getting to my goal and I worry that I won't get there. Or that if i do get there, I will still feel and look fat (at least in my own mind). Anyone have some words of advice? I am going crazy.

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

Hey everyone. We are all doing so well. Yeah us!! I had my first fill today and got a total of 5cc. I don't feel any different yet, but only time will tell. I am down 41 pounds sinc pre-op. So i guess roughly 5-6 lbs a week. I really hope I can keep up that rate. I am now jogging a little with my walking and not skipping a day. If I don't exercise, I get really grumpy. Doesn't it feel great to be getting smaller? Doesn't it make you all feel like you can accomplish so much? I also have to admit that I did eat an oatmeal cookie the other day (I had baked them for my dad), but I did eat it very slowly and only had one (as opposed to oh 10 or so). It was good and I didn't really feel guilty about it, just added about 5 minutes to my walk. Are you all doing well with the food selections? Has anyone else indulged? Keep up the good work butterflies:thumbup:
  7. Hi Lisa. I am sorry I have been absent for a while. I took 4 children ages 10 and under to visit my mom and dad for a week. I never got on the computer once. They hogged it. I have missed the chats terribly. The trip was good though. Very busy.

So, I am 41 pounds down. Good health. Still walking and now jogging a bit. Had my first fill today. That was pretty wierd. So back on full liquids for 2 days then mushies for 2 days then back to solids.

How are you doing? Have you started to feel better? How much have you lost? Is anything bothering you? I am really curious about how you feel about the procedure. Hope to hear from you soon.

  8. Hi Lisa. I am glad to hear that your surgery went well. I did want to offer one reccomendation though. I hope you don't mind. I reccomend that you walk, walk, walk. It will not only aleviate any gas problems you might be having, but it will also speed up the healing process. On another note, I can't believe everyone abandoned you, shame on them;) Keep up the good work and don't worry, the mushies will be coming soon enough, just push through the next week. You are at the worst part of it I promise you. It only gets better from here on out. Take care of yourself!!!

    July Butterflies Master Thread

Hello again. I haven't posted in a while. I am doing well. Finally off mushies and will get my first fill on August 21st. I can't wait. I am still walking every day and journaling my food and exercise. I have started to get hungrier, but I am still trying to keep it to 4oz at a time. The worst part is the constipation. The frustrating part is that I still can't get into my size 18 shorts. My tops are definately smaller though. I think it is because I am not allowed to do sit-ups or crunches yet and my skin is even saggier than before. Let's hope that will change. I am so glad to have this place to talk. Thanks to all of you for being here and being so open.
  10. I am glad to help you in any way I can. I have lost 28 lbs so far in just over 4 weeks. I am so happy and my fingernails are growing and my skin is clearing up. It is absolutely life changing. I had my first follow-up today. It has been 2 weeks since my surgery. I will get my first fill in 3 weeks and I am really anxious about that because I am already starting to feel a bit hungry inbetween meals. Sorry, I can ramble on and on sometimes. Please let me know if I can help you with anything at all.

  11. Thanks for the comments. I feel great!! I haven't felt this good in a long time. I should add that I walk at least 5 days a week now for at least 30 minutes. If you are looking for advice, I am happy to share. I was nervous too. I think we all are at some point. Please keep me informed on how you are doing.

    Help anyone? Please!

I am post op 5 days. I experienced a lot of what you are going through early on. I started taking lactaid with every "meal", gas-ex every night and I am walking all the time. I have found that the only way to really alleviate the pain is to walk. Also make sure you are not drinking too fast. I hope this helps.
