  1. I'm now officially a post oper. I just got home from the hospital. I'm feeling pretty tired and dealing with the gas and what I think is heartburn. The doc at the hospital told me to take some tums when I got home so that is what I just did. I have been burping and it feels really good afterwards. All I've had to eat or drink since surgery is 1 cup of cranberry juice and a jello cup. After following the pre-op diet perfectly, Dr. F said that my liver didn't shrink at all. He was actually about ready to cancel the band when he decided to give it one more try. Lucky for me he got it on. I would have been so devasted to wake up and not have the band on. Especially after following all the rules and doing exactly what I was suppose to. I was a little nervous that something might be wrong with my liver since it didn't shrink but the doctor I talked to today said to wait until I lose some weight and then they can check my liver again to see how big it is. If it's still big after I lose weight, there could be something wrong. He didn't think that was likely though. The nursing staff at the hospital was wonderful. I just wish they didn't put us non-eaters in the same room with those who can eat. It was really hard smelling my roommates meals. Especially when all she did was talk about how great it was - with each bite. :blushing:
  2. We're officially post-opers! Yeah. I just got home from the hospital. I was glad that I brought my own pjs. I put them on when I got to my room. It made walking around alot nicer. Plus, I did get a chance to read. I didn't color as planned as my iv was in my right hand it was a little hard to grasp the crayons. I'm going to post a update on my operation in the main Dec 08 forum. So check it out if you want to hear my surgery experience.
  3. Tommorow is my big day! I am so excited!!!!
  4. Hey Sarah, I started the thread - follow me too. LOL Just kidding. I am going to follow both of you and I'll add you to my list of lap band bloggers.
  5. Tomorrow is our big day and I am so excited. I have most of my things packed for the hospital. I'm bringing a pair of sweatpants, a pair of pj pants, very loose fitting shirt, my toothbrush, a book to read, suduko puzze book and my walking slippers. :tongue2: Am I forgetting anything?
  6. Tomorrow is my big day. I have to be at the hospital at 6am. I am so excited to start this next phase. I am sick of shakes, tomato soup, yogurt and pudding. I know I have at least another 2-3 weeks of that but at least I can add in applesauce and bananas in a week. :tongue2:
  7. Anyone else going to be blogging their lap band journey? I just created one today - check it out at http://startenjoyinglife.blogspot.com/. I have another blog that I love writing in for my craft business. I thought it was best to run two different blogs and keep the topics separate. Here's my other blog Sock Monkey Greetings.
  8. Campbell Soup makes some really good V8 Soups. I love the Southwest one but you need to blend it and strain it as there are pieces of corn in it. I love the spice though. I'm on my full liquid pre-op diet right now - day 5. Surgery is on Monday the 15th.
  9. My surgery is Dec 15th (posted about it in the Dec 08 bandsters forum). I'm on day 5 of my pre-op diet. I'm not really hungry but just craving variety. Today I had a Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with a scoop of protein powder for breakfast. A bowl of oatmeal made with extra water, a fat free dannon yogurt smoothie and about 6 cups of crystal light. For dinner I plan on eating a bowl of tomato soup and maybe some sugar free pudding. Yummy! LOL By the way, I started a new blog today to track my lap band journey. I plan on journaling each day, if time permits. Start Enjoying Life
  10. Awesome Calendar. I just added my information to Dec 15th.
  11. I am so sorry to hear that you are having other issues to deal with. I hope your leg heals back to normal. Keep us updated on your LB Surgery.
  12. We have lots of young ones in here  I'm 40, weigh 261 now, op date of 12/15, from Vermont.
  13. I had my pre-op today. It was easy - I had blood drawn, went over my medical history for the anestesiologist and they ran an EKG. Two weeks to go and we'll be done. I am so excited and I just can't wait to start this next chapter in my life.
  14. gmechile - I would definately put yourself on a pre-op diet. It will make it much easier on your surgeon and yourself if you shrink your liver down. Without a preop diet your liver will be normal size, which from my understanding, is too big for the surgery. It'll be in the way and has a greater chance of getting damaged (cut, etc.). I'm so surprised that he doesn't have you on a preop diet. I'm reading a Gastric Band book right now and that even talks about the importance of the preop diet.
  15. I have been thinking of everyone all day today. I hope everyone's surgeries went well and you're all on your feet by tomorrow.
  16. I just got home from my doctor's appointment and I'm all set for the 15th. They didn't comment on my weight gain. Although I'm not really sure if their scale showed one or not. I don't remember what my weight was when I went there last. I didn't want to ask to bring a spotlight to my weight. LOL I'm guessing it might not have been as bad as I thought. I left the appointment so excited and I just can't wait to start my liquid diet on Dec 5th. I'm sitting on second base waiting to run to third and then the home stretch.
  17. I'm back from my appointment and things are still a go. They actually didn't even say anything about my weight gain. Maybe I didn't really gain anything? I didn't dare ask what my last weight was because I didn't want to put a spotlight on it. LOL The hospital was too busy to have me stop by for my pre-op so I don't do that part until 1 Dec. Anyone else on here have a surgery date of Dec or Jan?
  18. Hey Folks. I'm scheduled for surgery on December 15th. Today is my preop appointment. I have gained a couple of pounds and I'm so nervous they are going to cancel my surgery. I fell into a slump and it took me a couple of weeks go get out of it. I'm back on track now and dedicated to getting the lap band and the plans afterwards. How many of you are in the Chittenden/Franklin County areas? There has been some talk about a weekly support group meeting. Would anyone be interested in attending?
  19. Me...me...me.....!!!!!! I'm scheduled for December 15th. Today is my preop appointment. I have actually gained a few pounds so I'm really worried about what they will say. I've been struggling with the urges to eat and eat in fear of not eating like this again. Of course, I don't want to eat like this again so I can't figure out why I've fallen back into my old patterns. Especially since I know it can jeapordize my chance of actually having surgery. I've been in this process since April - why would I do this to myself now? Anywho....I can't wait to have the surgery! Let's keep in touch with each other. Feel free to send me a private message and I'll send you my email if you'd like.
  20. This is the Protein shake Mix I'm using - I really like it. Soy Protein powder (Vanilla) Helps Restrict Carbohydrates
  21. Lady - Welcome to the website and to our forum. Good luck with your insurance approval and hopefully officially you'll be a Holiday Hottie.
  22. Cali W, I am right there with you. I am so glad that I'm not alone - although I wish you all weren't dealing with this also. The guilt just eats me up inside. I know I want this surgery so much and I really want to change things but I'm just in this rut I can't pull myself out of. I keep telling myself that this is the last time I'm going to splurge on this "junk food" like this. Next thing I know I'm grabbing something else. Do you think that we have this inner part of ourselves that is sabotaging what we're doing? Afraid to lose the old us? There is a small part of me that is afraid of losing who I am but there is a very large part of me that wants to lose that part of me. I'm sick of being the fat one. I'm tired of being tired and not having energy to go do things. I want to sit at a restaurant booth and not feel like my breasts are laying on the table. I want to fly without a seat belt extender. I want to jump on a bike and not have my large butt hanging over. Even with reminding myself of all of this, I still grab for the wrong things. I've had a great 5 months - I've lost over 30 pounds so far. Why now am I sliding back into my old habits? I wish there was a weekly support group for lap banders close by that I could attend like a WW meeting. I always found that checking in at a meeting kept me on program and out of ruts like these.
  23. Is anyone else having issues with their pre-op stage? I'm not on the pre-op diet yet but for the last three weeks I have been eating anything and everything in sight. I feel like I need to eat it all now because once I have the surgery I won't be able to eat like this again. Which of course is what I want to happen but there is something about letting the "old" me go. Does that make sense? I can't seem to kick myself out of this phase. I was hoping it was only going to last a day or two and here I am almost a month later and doing the same thing. I drive by McD's and feel like I need to stop now because in a month I won't be able to. I feel like I need to sit down with a whole bag of cheetos and eat as many as I can in one sitting. Ben and Jerry want me to visit them and enjoy their ice cream. It's been affecting my weight loss and my emotional eating. Am I the only one struggling with this?
  24. Ugh..Holiday Hotties is in the lead. For some reason I really don't like that name. But I'll live with it either way. I'm just so excited that it's getting closer to the big day!!!
