  1. So there is no gas pain after your surgery? Do they have to blow up your abdoman when doing the surgery? Is there a pre-op diet like before the band? How long till you go back to work?
  2. I am wondering what the "5-day Pounch Test" is? Whats the purpose of doing it?
  3. I am really some feedback here. I was badned Oct 24 and the only weight I have lost was on the pre-op. I had a fill Nov 25 and still havn't lost anything. As far as restriction, I really have to chew my food and eat slowly or it will get stuck. As far as hunger - I am still VERY hungry. I thought that the band was supposed to help this a bit and keep you fuller longer. I still need to eat every 2 hrs early in the day (from around 9 - 3pm). I was like this before too, always ate more earlier in the day. My concern is how much tighter do I need to be before any weight starts to come off? Also, I was not told to count calories and keep track of all my food intake. Am I missing a vital part of program here?
  4. At the risk of giving too much information - I used a fleet or enehma. Yes - it may a little embarassing to have it given to you. But it does work on a one time basis. I used it day 5 after my surgery just to get things going, without any straining.
  5. Apart from the protein you be taking in a minimum of 1200 calories. If you go below that for any period of time (which you would have while on the pre-op plan) your body will go into starvation mode. Meaning that your body will start to hold on to every calorie to take in. So you will need to increase it. Even if it means drinking 3 instant breakfasts with a scoops of protein powder in every day for awhile. If you dont get enough protein, then could put yourself at risk for hair loss and brittle nails.
  6. My surgery on Tuesday at noon. Kinda ironic I think. After loosing 14 lbs so far on the Optifast, I'v thought "gee, why dont I just stay on that for 3 months and save myself $18K?" Do I really need the band?? Of course I do. I believe this is a tiny glimpse of the emotional roller coaster that this journey will be.

  8. I am getting banded Oct 14th at Maples in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am on day 6 of Optifast and am really needing support! I can have 3 Optifast and up to 2 cups of non-starch vagetables a day. Apart from wanting to chew my own arm off - things are great!! I am so looking forward to dealing with my weight issue once and for all. At least now when I do the right things I will see results. Where is everybody from? I am from Regina Saskatchewan.

  10. I am on Day 6. I am REALLY feeling sorry for myself now. Not being able to eat and hungry all the time. I have another 8 days to go. So far my low points have been licking a french fry and cheating my having a pickel!! I have mixed the Optifast with coffee and froze it. That was a really nice treat. My surgery is Oct 14th at Maples in Winnipeg Manitoba.

  12. I am currently looking at getting banded. My big question is for those who it didn't work for - why? I would be self pay and of course don't wnat to spend $20K and then not have it be the right tool for me. So is it because we slowley slip into old habits? dont exercise? think we can loose and not exercise and then just slowly nibble the weight back on?
  13. I am researching getting banded and am looking at going to Maples. Is that where you went? If it was, can you tell me abou tit? Thier professionailsm, service ect.
