    Self Hate after losing weight

Hollie, you sound like a very mature 18 yr. old, but at the same time, a hurt little girl with an awful lot of pain. I think most of us here got this overweight because of the similar issues, that feeling of little or no self-worth and just wanting acceptance and for people to love us. But, as a woman old enough to be your mother and having been overweight all my life too, it's wonderful that you are learning all of this and discovering the real you at such a young age. You need to focus on what makes you happy and I'm very glad you are going to counseling, that should really help you to move forward. So, be proud of your success, take one day at a time and just take care of you. You are God's precious girl and you have so many wonderful things in store for you!

    dating

Me too! Only I'm 49 and haven't lost enough yet to be ready to date. I'm 2 months post op and down about 37 lbs. I feel like I won't be ready until I lose at least another 40 but I do think about it alot and I know I will be nervous too because it's been so long! Let me know how it goes and how you feel once you start dating since you are further along than me! Congrats on your weight loss, I'll bet you feel great! Amy
  3. I am 6 wks out from surgery and I have had port pain since the beginning! It was really bad for the first few weeks, has been getting a little better each day. I have been back to the surgeon twice about this and had a few phone calls to him and the P.A. Everything check ed out ok and they say it is normal, some people just have it worse than others. I was so frustrated for a while because I found very few people who had it like me, that burning and pulling sensation every time I moved. For the first month, I couldn't walk without something tight on under my clothes to hold it in place. It's just now to where I'm able to go without it. Anyway, hope that helps, I think it's just helpful to know that someone else has had the same issue and it does get better! Good luck!
  4. Hi Amanda! I'm glad you are feeling better. That is great that you have 4-6 weeks off, I took 2 weeks vacation time, I could have used a little more time. That was what was so hard, I heard that some people go back to work in 3-5 days and there was no way I could. I still have pain. Today I didn't wear my Spanx camisole underneath my clothes and I am hurting tonight. It helps so much to have pressure or something tight around me to hold it in place, it's when it moves that it hurts most. I am just hoping it goes away soon, tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me since surgery. I am supposed to get my first fill on 7/31 but if it still feels like this, I don't think I can. Anyway, I'm hoping for the best. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. Amy
  5. The first couple of days were the worst and it does get better each day. Hopefully you don't experience the "port" pain that some of us have. A lot of people it seems have not had any problem with that, some of us unfortunately have and apparently it just takes time. I'm going on 3 weeks post op and still have it, although it does seems to be getting a little better each day. Good luck with everything and congrats on your new beginnings! Amy
  6. I was so glad to read your post. I'm sorry you've had pain but you are the first person to describe exactly what I have had! I had my surgery on 6/24 and still have that burning/pulling pain, sometimes makes me want to cry. I went back to my surgeon, he checked it out and said everything was fine and it was normal. He did prescribe more pain medication for me but so far the only thing that really helps is tight undergarments! I have a camisole by SPANX that really helps, at least it holds everything in place so I can walk etc. Anyway, I felt like you that it seems everyone else just bounced back so quickly. I do keep hearing that the pain does go away eventually, hopefully soon! Good luck to you and keep me posted on how you are doing! Amy
  7. Hi! I am new to this forum and I just got my band 2 1/2 weeks ago. Everything went great except I have had a lot of pain in my port area. It feels like it is burning with pinching and pulling. I am comfortable when I am lying down but walking and turning or bending can be excruciating. If I put pressure on it it's better but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I went for my post op appt. last week and then went in again 2 days ago to see about it but the surgeon felt around, said my port was perfectly in place and that this was normal, some people just have more pain than others. I just want to know anyone else who might have experienced this and can tell me it will go away in time! Thanks, I'm glad to be a part of this group!
  8. Thanks so much for your responses. It just helps to know someone else has experienced this and it does get better! I did get a couple of "under-garments" from SPANX an it helps tremendously just to keep everything from moving around. Thanks again and good luck to everyone!
