    This seems too easy...

I was just thinking this today. I'm about a month post op and everything has gone smoothly. I had pain the first few days after surgery, then it just went away. I've been able to get my protein and water in no problem, and so far I've tolerated all the food I have tried. I'm so thankful I'm off to a good start!

    Anyone else terrified?

I'm definitely terrified. Not so much of the surgery itself, moreso a complication afterwards. I know they are rare, but they do happen. I'm so afraid I'll have lifelong complications. I think it's normal, but It's hard to deal with when you have to wait so long to have surgery.
  5. My surgeon recommended the Loop DS for me. He raved about it, saying it would eventually overtake the bypass. He's writing a paper on this method and I believe that he believes in the results. I'm just nervous going with a procedure that "nobody" seems to get or has even heard of. Why do you think more people aren't going this route? Why did you choose the Loop DS?

I’m 4 months after gastric bypass

I'm in DBT therapy to help change my relationship with food. It's a behavior change method that gives strategies to deal with emotions and practice mindfulness. I think it's helping. I talk mainly about my relationship with food and emotional eating in therapy and I do reading and practice certain steps and techniques throughout the week. I definitely won't hurt to start talking about your relationship with food in therapy.

People and their comments pre and post wls

Maybe it's from being fat my whole life, but I never think to comment on people's bodies. That is so strange to me. Some people have no tact. As far as family goes, they are probably used to seeing you bigger. In fact they are probably used to seeing bigger people in general. Most of the population is at least somewhat overweight. So when They see someone at a smaller weight they automatically think *sick*.

Do you happen to take a PPI? They can aid in the depletion of magnesium.

    Got my surgery date!

That is awesome! I'd love to hear more about the process overall. Have you attended the support group? I'm sure I'll show up there sooner or later.

Are you getting your surgery in Albuquerque? I'm in Rio Rancho and I have my first appointment at Rust Medical Center in October.
