  1. remember too that some of that pressure is still the abdominal gas that they pump into you.. try hot liquids such as tea or broth.. it made me feel better:cool2:
  2. Hey there.. I was in the same boat.. hang in there!! it will get better soon!.. try sipping on hot tea. I would sip on it constantly.. to the point where my hubby was making fun of the fact that I always needed a top off to make it warm again. I think it really helped with the gas too. it was the only way I could get a lot of liquid in.. I still do that now.. hope it helps..
  3. I had terrible gas pains,, it was the worst part.. they kept hanging on.. I had my husband massage my shoulders and neck and back pretty hard and it pushed up the gas and I burped.. it kept coming back and each time he would do the same thing, I didnt try the heating pad but you should.. because the pain in your shoulder and neck is differed from the gas pushing on your diapram,. so the heat should help the shoulder, I also slept propped up in a chair and drank lots of hot tea.. these things seemed to help.. I hated that time but keep reminding your self that its gonna be over soon!!! I feel great now!:biggrin2:
  4. Hi I was banded on 7/25 almost a month ago and I have been on the progression diet.. I have been on mushy food for the last 3 weeks and have 2 more weeks to go on mushies.. however.. I have no fill in my band and yet I am very restricted.. I eat only the amount that they told me to and I am not hungry.. I have no appetite and I have to force myself to eat at times because i am breastfeeding and I know I need it.. I believe I am already around 20lbs down although I havent had the official weigh in.. I am susposed to get my first fill in a week and this bothers me for 2 reasons.. 1 I got the band so that when I was preg I could have the band opened up with no restriction and eat how I need to eat.. 2nd if they fill me now I may have even more problems eating.. has anyone else expierenced this?:smile2:
  5. tutornmom, I will pray for you.. I cant imagine my hubby leaving for a year.. God Bless you wives of service men! the Lord will care for your every need! Hebbs
  6. Stace, We will pray for your kitty.. put him in Gods hands and trust.. Just remember as you are about to take this huge step that the enemy will do everything he can to shake you up so he can reak havoc with your fears.. lay your burdens down on him and keep focused on Him right now.. he knows your heart and how much you love your cat. trust him that in the end.. no matter the outcome he is worthy to be trusted. will be praying for you weds.. love, Hebbs
  7. I am praying for you this morning. I Lord can do miraculous things! hang in there sister!! The Lord has a plan and purpose for your life.
  8. flying is fine, keep in mind the number of bandsters that have gotten banded out of this country for finacial purposes.. I am assuming they fly home very shortly after.
  9. I went tent camping a week and a half after my surgery and I was fine.. my husband did all the work setting up camp.. but it was fine, everyone recovers at a different rate but you should be fine. the only thing to keep in mind is your eating at a months time may still be restricted,, like having to eat mushies or something.( I am not sure what plan your doc has you on) but eating out is somewhat a pain while in recovery. just plan ahead and bring things to help yourself if need be
  10. hey all.. I have been gone for a little while now.. just busy because my husband is on break from his med program.. but its wonderful to see all of you support one another! I will have to keep checking up on here to get some prayer requests to pray for!! I think its so important to pray for one another in this transistion of life.. the enemy can be so crafty! I myself have been seeming to expierence "bandster hell" as I have heard it refered to.. haha really its not that bad.. but I am in week 3 and I cant believe that I have to eat friggin pureed food for 2 more weeks.. I have been eating some mushy stuff and just chewing it really well.. but its a little ridiculous to me to sit down to dinner and my 10 month old is eating more solid chunks than me!! haha. its really frusterating that it seems I can only eat like 4 things. and having to be "special" wherever I go.. "Im sorry I can only eat things the consistancy of baby mush" :whatchutalkingabout ok well God bless you all this week!
  11. Hi everyone.. I am feeling better.. the gas is hardly noticible now.. it only rears its ugly head once and awhile.. I lost 11lbs in the first week since surgery so the doc progressed me to mushies cause I am Breastfeeding too! I think they felt bad for me My only isssue now is I am doing things too early because I feel better. (like picking up my daughter) but I am trying not too.. cause I pay for it later. Stace, I havent forgot about you.. sorry I havent written you.. but I am camping with my husband and baby and I just found free wifi.. at the camp store.. I was afraid I would miss your surgery date before I got back but I see its the 2oth, just wanna make sure I pray ok all.. back to the lake and the tent. blessings:biggrin2:
  12. I had full liquids from day 2 on and I just made them really thin.. I had all kinds of creamy Soups blended them for like 4 mins and I was fine, I am breast feeding so I couldnt really do the Clear Liquids.. I was very conservative though I didnt go to crazy.. but also had Protein shakes with milk.. the pain in your chest is most likely still from the Gas they put in you.. I had terrible gas pains in my chest and in my back and then later in my shoulders.. it took me about 7-8 days to get over them completely.I think the pain is in the chest area because the gas is trying to get out and pushing up on the diaphram.. just remember to sip slow and take breaks if you start to feel bad. and be conscious of liquids that cause gas. AND remember to walk a lot.. even if you dont feel like it walk.. and have someone massage your back and help you to burp up that gas. everyones doc is different.. some say clear liquids for 4 days.. some say full.. some even allow mushies early. you should follow what your doc wants.. but just remember you are recovering from surgery.. take it easy. dont push your stomach too early, you dont want to throw up.
  13. I also get a stomach ache sometimes shortly after I eat or drink something. I just rest awhile and the feeling passes. then I try a little more.
  14. Hey all I was banded 7/25 about a week ago and my doctor progressed me early to mushies because I lost 11lbs in 1 week.. (I am breastfeeding my baby too!) so I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestions on what to try... I am acutally scared to death to try anything for fear of throwing up.. but I have to start getting some more nutrients. (canned blended soup is not doing the trick) I tried baked beans a little bit ago and had one scrambled egg for breakfast today. and I had a tbs of cottage cheese yesterday. help! :wink2:
  15. I was banded on 7/25 as well and I went to the doc yesterday for my 1 wk check up. I think they felt bad for me because I have lost 11 lbs since surgery.. I am breastfeeding my baby and basically starving on freakin liquids! So they progressed me early to mushies.. the only problem is I am scared to death to eat much of anything because I dont want to throw up.. I HATE THROWING UP.. I threw up everyday for 7 months with my pregnancy and that is why I ended up with a hiatal hernia repair when I got banded. :wink2:
  16. thanks all.. the pain is much better.. and yes I did have a hiatal hernia repair, man did it hurt to breathe that first day!! I still get the shoulder pain.. but it is not as frequent.. thanks for sharing.. and I'll pray for the rest of you who still suffer from that pain.. its terrible. my husband would pray for me every time it got severe and I would burp a bunch and it would get better! yay God!
  17. I am sure this question has been asked a million times before. I tried doing a search for other posts on the subject. I am 5-6 days post op and I have some pretty severe left shoulder pain. I am assuming this is from the gas but I dont know.. I am a little ticked because I have walked soooo much and taken every gas medicine there is, not laid flat and now I have this! is it normal? has anyone asked a doc about this?.. I vauguely remember while still druged the doc saying something about left shoulder pain.. but hello... I was drugged.. anyone have suggestions on how to make it stop? Help!
  18. hello all, I am 5 days post op and still dealing with gas. I guess I didnt expect to still feel crappy on day 5. its the worst in the morning.. times like right now where I am choking down tea to try to start my day. I hope this is gonna be over soon. blah!
  19. Hi.. I just got banded and one of the main deciding factors to finally saying yes is that you can have a totally healthy pregnancy.. you can keep the fluid in if you are getting enough nutrients or they can open it totally up so you can eat normally and then refill it after you have the baby. (which was important to me because my first preg I threw up everyday for 7 months!) so yes its totally safe.. I also know people who had the band and then got preg immediately after (not planned) and everything went fine.. its a very low risk thing.
  20. Hi i was banded on Friday July 25th too! how are you feeling? I am still sore and dealing with GAS! haha but its getting better. hang in there!! Hebbs
  21. I used the low carb slimfast shakes.. they were recommended by my nutritionist.. they have lower sugar..
  22. Hi there, sorry if I scared you.. first off.. everyone is different.. so you cant take other peoples recoveries and expect that it will happen to you.. I went on this site and tried to prepare myself for everything that would happen.. you are unique.. you may or may not have a hard time.. the real thing to focus on is past the first few days.. the lifetime of healthier living.. I believe in the end it is worth anything you may go through. I have had a lot of gas pain and pressure.. so I have been trying to walk it off.. it was more pain than I thought I would have.. but it has been getting better. when I am up at 2am.. I just walk.. or wake my husband up for support.. and just wait it out till I am tired enough to fall asleep again.. its more annoying and discomfort.. its not like I am doubled over in pain. . day 3 has been the hardest so far.. but I think its getting better. I heard some people walk out of surgery and dont have any gas pain or discomfort at all!! lucky them!! haha. just keep remembering this is like a week of my life where I have to go through some discomfort.. but in the end it will be so much better.. hang in there.. you will do great.. make sure you have some support.. someone who will empathize with your discomfort.. a back rub and a hug go a long way. :mad2:
  23. Eve, have you had the band placed yet? if so when?
  24. hang in there I am on liquids for 2 weeks before mushies!! haha.. 1 week seems lucky.. man I cant wait to be out of the woods with the surgery healing.. I am looking forward to feeling great! I think the hardest part is I am breastfeeding my 10 month old and I am able to get hardly any nutrients down.. so I feel crappy and hungry.. but I cant do much about it.. sigh.. I guess thats what fat stores are for! haha
  25. I am up at two am with gurgling and pressure, gas and most likely hunger pains, I guess I am just trying to get used to my body after surgery, I am 2 days post op and I think my stomach is a little confused, just was up and thought I would share.
