Hlyn reacted to kcuster83 in Muscle weaknessDon't feel bad. I fail in the exercise field too! I want to, but have no motivation when focusing on everything else.
I feel myself getting weaker, I need to build back up my strength. I will eventually, but need to find the motivation NOW.

Hlyn got a reaction from GreenTealael in Days like thisAnyone ever have days where it feels like they never had the surgery? Where there appetite is like it used to be ? There’s no off switch and you don’t even dump after? It’s freaking me out and I don’t know how to reset or fix it. I’m 3 months out and I’ve lost 60plus but now I’m worried. Anyone have any advice? -
Hlyn reacted to Jaelzion in Days like thisWhen I was still in the weight loss phase, I had what I called "munchie" days, when I was hungry all day long. I learned not to fight it, but to make sure I ate nutritious, high protein food and not junk. If I ate something and then an hour later I was hungry, I'd eat something else but it had to be something on-plan. I found those days were offset by an equal number of days when I had very little appetite and ate super-lightly. The good thing about munchie days is that they were often followed by a nice drop in weight. I have no idea how that works, but I observed that to be the case.

Hlyn reacted to catwoman7 in Struggling morecheck with your clinic in case it's something like a stricture. It may not be - but not being able to keep anything down is a symptom of that. If so, it's an easy fix.
as the above person said, it could also be some kind of food intolerance. Just call your clinic - they'll know what to do.

Hlyn reacted to learn2cook in Struggling moreI would check with your doctor. Can you keep plain liquids like water and Gatorade down? It could be lactose intolerance but check with the pros before you get any more dehydrated. -
Hlyn got a reaction from GreenTealael in Eating Less and LessI’m 6 weeks out from RNY and I feel like I’m able to eat less and less. I feel like I was able to eat more a few weeks ago does that sound odd? I feel like now I can barely take one bite of food and I get stomach pain and can’t eat again for hours. Is this normal? -

Hlyn reacted to Butterflyeffect in CaloriesI agree with Luna Girl, protein or meal replacement shakes were the only way I could reach my protein goals and get around 600 calories a day in the beginning.
Everyone is different but I felt very tired and dizzy if I didn’t get in at least 600 calories a day.

I struggled with getting enough calories in the first several weeks. Still have days, that I barely get in 500-600 just because I am not hungry. Try a couple of protein shakes a day...@150-180 calories each, that will give you at least 300+, plus, it will count toward your fluid total. Good Luck!

Hlyn reacted to Christina Phillips in Water sippingI hated that too! I used to live chugging water so it was quite an adjustment for me. I am 5 weeks out... Soon enough you will be able to drink a lot at a time. Idk if I'm really supposed to but I pretty much chug sometimes lol I love ice cold water lol

Hlyn reacted to Jzampedri in Air bubble? My surgeon told me it’s due to swelling and think of it as a smaller funnel. The water swirls and swirls try taking smaller sips -
Hlyn reacted to Soon2bFit21 in Water sippingIt was a bit of an annoyance for me, but I was able to go back to drinking water on a normal level fairly quickly. Not everyone can do so, but I’ve seen quite a few here that are able to go back to drinking larger amounts. Give it time, it won’t be all sipping forever. -
Hlyn reacted to The Greater Fool in Dumping causesDon't be terrified of dumping.
*IF* you dump (only 30-50% of folks dump at all) you will dump eventually. It's a little scary the first few times because it's new and you don't know what's going to happen next. Once you understand what's happening and what's going to happen it's easier to cope with.
Early on, dumping for me was an educational tool of the "what not to do" variety. The key lesson was "I don't want to do that again" and adjusted my rare off-plan choices accordingly.
I learned that a lot of things affect when I dump. Stress, hunger, fatigue, and sickness make me more likely to dump. What was safe was no longer so. Some medications make dumping more likely or make dumping worse. Again, I used all this as learning experiences.
So, the idea that "I can eat x amount" works until it doesn't.
Most dumping experiences are mild. Sweaty, fatigue and shakes for a few minutes is most common. Certainly not the end of the world.
These days it takes a convergence of stupid things to get me into dumping badly. It's probably been longer than a year, perhaps two, since a honest dumping episode happened last. I'm not exactly sure, I don't mark them on my calendar or anything.
It's akin to stubbing your toe. It hurts in the moment and seems to come from nowhere. But it passes and life goes on.
Living in fear is no way to live.
Good luck,
Tek

Hlyn reacted to Karriekuddles in FoodI have no idea. I had my surgery on July 8th. And this past Wednesday I went to open a shake took one smell of it and started gagging. So I went and got some refried beans and took like 5 bites and can tolerate it. Im not going back. Technically I can go on pureed foods starting Tuesday. I take very small bites. If I take to big or take another bite to soon. I can feel it go down. Its getting better. -

Hlyn reacted to lizonaplane in CookingThe frozen kind might not work that well in maki because it's weird shapes, but I just saw a kind in a shelf-stable bag at Costco (I didn't buy it because I was with a friend and didn't have time to look at the nutrition info) that might be better.
