Newbie here, scared after reading posts
Sara, You just have to look at the benefits and the risks. I would say the benefits outnumber the risks. I already had to have emergency surgery not even 2 weeks out from banding....but I still say the benefits will so be worth it!!!!!!

The Incredible Missing Port!
Nonny, I hope you are doing okay. Sunday I thought my port had torn loose and stood up on it's side just like aquarter also. When I went into the doctor she thought so also. Had emergency surgery on Monday night and it turned out that the port was still sewn in place. THe tubing had buckled over and rubbed the incision causing big fluid sac(reason we could not feel the port down where it was) My doctor straightend out tube and stitched down. It all turned out fine. I hope your ordeal does too! Keep us posted.

Depressed and needing support
Dodi, I feel for you girl!! You were very lucky to have such a handsome husband!!!(KR is a hunk). Although I haven't lost my spouse, I did just recently (3/22) experience the 4th year without my Dad(he was 60when he died), and Sunday (4/2) was his birthday. So I've been a little blue. I So totally understand the song bit, because We played some songs at Dad's funeral and I can't listen to "Daddy's Hands" anymore. I hope the rest of the week goes better for you. You do have a bright spot on the horizon coming, so just keep looking forward to your upcoming visit with your daughter. Isn't wonderful to have such a nice and caring pharmicist? Have a safe trip and wonderful visit with your daughter.

Hernia after surgery
I had a hernia occur right after my gallbladder surgery. It came up about 2.5 months after the surgery. The doctor called it an incisional hernia. I had to have it fixed. My doctor also told me this occurs alot with abdominal surgery. Maybe your small bump above your port is not hernia, maybe your tubing buckled/kinked like mine did. It caused a small bump above the port area too. Doctor thought the port had moved, but when she got in it was the tube. She fixed it and said it shouldn't happen again. Please keep us posted as to what your doctor found.

Kiss Splenda Good-Bye!!
That is a bummer!!! They should just post warning on box and let the consumer decide whether we want to risk it or not!! Just like they did with Sweet & Low.

Surgery Update
Well it all went well last night!!!!! I got to the hospital at 4:30pm, waited in the waiting room til about 6:20pm They took me back and prepped me and I went to the OR at 7:30pm and was back in the recovery at 8:15pm. left the hospital around 8:30pm and was home before 10pm(which I guess is good, considering we have about an hour drive from hops to the house) Well back to the surgery....... Once the doctor got in there, she was surprised that it was not the port causing the problem(it was still sewn in place right where it should be). It was actually the tubing, it had ridden up and buckled/kinked into a hump right under the main incision. All the rubbing it had done had caused a big sac of fluid to fill there. She drained off all the fluid. Then she put the tube back in place and stitched it into place. She says she has never had to stitch one down before. So I guess that this must not be a common problem. Thanks to all you that posted well wishes to me yesterday!!!! Dodi - Thanks for reminding me that if I don't get the support I need at home I can get it here!! (your a doll) Hubby has gotten over the money thing. It helped today when I found out that the hospital still had $1050 balance due on the originall banding surgery, I called and said no way!!!! This surgery was to be a set price $17,500. So the doctor's office got involved, She called me back and said That had been taken care of and I did not owe that. Yay!!!! I just saved hubby $1000 (LOL):ban: He was happy about that!!!

Going back in for Sugery TONIGHT!!!
I just need to "blow off" to somebody!!!! Hubby is quite upset about the additional cost of the surgery I have to have tonight. I told him just to be calm and not piss anybody off until after I am in recovery!!!! He makes me feel like this is my fault, but says he knows it's not. He says its the doctor's fault, but I think it was just a freak thing- no ones fault. Aaahhhhhh I don't need this stress now!!!!! I had to worry about what to do with my 2 kids tonight, do you think hubby worried about that????? No, he was just going to take them along to the hospital!!! The oldest has school tomorrow!!!! MEN --- need I say more!!!!!!

Going back in for Sugery TONIGHT!!!
Well as I posted yesterday, I thought my port had moved. It had!!!!! The doctor said it felt like it had come unstitched, she says she hasn't had that happen before. So since it has moved up and turned on its side and is rubbing pretty hard on the inside of the big incision, she wants to go in tonight and fix it. She will do me at 6pm tonight and she says I will be able to go home tonight. THe bummer part of this all... I was self pay and now I have to come up with deductible and copay for the hospital. I think the doctor will work something out with me. At least this complication can be sent in on the insurance, thank goodness. Please keep me in your prayers, I am scared to go under again.

Help.....has anybody's port moved??????
Anne, Yes definately right under the skin( at the incision) My incision isn't totally healed yet, and I keep worrying that the port will rub its way back thru it. I will definately call first thing in the morning. Thanks for replying to me.

Hi Ya'll
Hello Lady Di, I am from Texas also. Marshall. I also was self pay $17,500. I decided to do it locally so I wouldn't have to worry about my fills and any complications. Which I guess is a good thing, since I'm having port problems already. Good Luck in your lapband journey.
