Hello. I haven't posted in a while. I have had 4 fills now, the last being Jan 15th of this year. I was at 280 then and creeping up. I am now 242. The sweet spot is the difference maker. Still partying on the weekends, but I stick to straight tequila. Cabo all the way!
  3. Hey! Weight loss is going well. Good to see you!

  4. I just had my 2nd fill a week ago. I am down 40 pounds in just over 6 weeks. I need to get down to 200 by July which is what I weighed in college when I played football. I am trying every day!

Hello everyone! Kara, I had a similar situation last night. I ate chicken and I was so hungry AND used to little restriction. Well, I git some stuck and it was sooo painful. It lasted 50 minutes! I will never eat fast again. I went in today for my 2nd fill at basically 6.5 weeks post op. The first time he added 4cc and this time he added 2cc. We are trying to get it dialed in. I am down a total of about 37lbs, so I hope this helps me even more. I hope everyone continues to keep us updated on their progress (Jacquie, Craig, Christy, Jewel, Summertime) Patrick

I had my first fill 2/13 which was just under 3 weeks post op. I had 4 ccs put in but the band I have holds 14cc. I had to go on liquids for only about a day and a half. After that I was back on solids, but eating less. I have still hit a wall for weight loss so I am kicking up the frequency of my workouts to try to break through. A week post fill doesn't feel all that different than I did before my fill, but maybe that is just me. I know they don't want to overfill right away, so I will check back with the DOC in about 3 weeks. Can we all agree that t his process still takes hard work, focus and self control? I say that as I stare at a box of Girl Scout cookies only 3 feet away! I am going to the gym now! Keep the drive alive!
  8. I am not starving, I can actually still eat after my first fill. I am working out hard though! You look great!

Happy Velentines day! I do not know where to find a good chart for ideal weight. I try not to pay attention to the charts, because they seem like fiction to me. I went yesterday to have a fill just under 3 weeks post-op. I have the band that holds 14cc and he put in 4cc. I felt fine and drank water immediately to make sure it went down ok. Dr. said that I would feel normal, but I should go back to liquids for 2-3 days. He recommended that I do not try to eat anything even soft food, or it would get stuck. I went home and had broth...an hour later I was hungry so I had some more soup. About 2 hours later, I was starving and I decided to have a slice of Velveeta.....MISTAKE. It got stuck and I was in pain for about 5 minutes! He was right and I guess that is why he went to school for 12 years. I learned my lesson and I am back on liquids. It is Valentines Day and Red Wine is a liquid right????

I feel like I need a fill too because I can't seem to stay full. I have been trying very hard to watch what I eat and workout. The only thing that I have found difficult to eat is rice. I won't make that mistake again! I like the support and the updates from everyone! Thank you! We all need to band together. Sorry, I couldn't resist that one:tongue2: I am going to my first support group tomorrow night and I am looking forward to hearing what others in my area are experiencing.
  13. I will keep my chin up! Thank you. I have been trying really hard to workout at least every other day. I have been flat with my wieght for about a week. I need to get a fill!!! How is yoru progress?

Hey everybody! I hope everyone is having a good day. I have had 2 bad days in a row! I have been able to eat anything and I mean ANYTHING. I had lost almost 30 lbs but I have gained back 2 in 2 days. I have been trying to watch what I eat today, but in the last 2 days I have had chicken, ground beef, goldfish crackers and chicken wings! I progressed waaaaaay too fast to the solid food phase. I wonder if my Dr. put the band on my kidney instead of my stomach  I also can feel my port. It is just left of center under the skin. I worry about that because when I get tot he point that I am doing laundry on my "washboard abs" I don't want it sticking out.

I was getting hungry in between meals and I cam to the realization that I am at the point where problems can start. My nutritionist explained to me that in 7-10 days or so after surgery, depending on the band you have, the swelling will subside and it will feel like you can eat almost anything. Last night, I had about 10 McDonald's french fries...no problem at all. I chewed them up and swallowed them. This was scary. I really have to watch now, because I can get carried away! I am trying to have sugar free jello and more water between meals.

Tiare, Hello. I had the same gas problem for about 3 days. I am planning on beginning my workouts tomorrow, but at a manageable pace. 1 month sounds about right, especially if you are doing any resistance training.

I went to the store today to get things ready to go back to work Monday. It was funny when I went down the "chip" isle...I was looking at the Cheetos puffs thinking "If I ate them slow, they would just melt away in my mouth" Then reality kicked in and I moved on. I am going to try mashed potatoes tomorrow and see if that qualifies for 5-Star dining! I am sure that I will enjoy it.

That is too funny! I had soup today and it was the best I have ever tasted! It is amazing how our bodies adjust! Yesterday I was going crazy for a different taste to hit my mouth, so I ate a tablespoon of taco sauce! It was the best I have ever tasted!

Downsdc, Thank you for reminding me about the protein intake... I need to get some more today. I have the Lap-band which is sewn into the stomach. I am not really feeling the pain any more from the incisions, which is nice. I am taking Tylenol rapid release gelcaps during the day and it is allright as long as I swallow them one at a time. I am saving the liquid Vicodin for bedtime every night! I am still taking in around 500 calories per day, but I am going to increase that today. So far, I am not showing any signs of weakness though, which is nice.

So far so good for me. My only real complaint on day 3 is GAS! I just got back from the store and bought some Gas-x so I am hoping that it helps. Other than that the pain is limited to the incisions and the muscle tissue around the port.

Hello Jan. 26th Bandsters! I was banded yesterday at 9:00am and was home by 4. I have been experiencing abdominal bloating, tenderness around the port, and minor constipation. The good news is that I have been able to get down protien Meal Replacements, Water, Crystal light with no problem. I didn't have any special pre-op diet and my progression schedule from the Dr. is: liquids only including Protein shakes: Day 1-Day3 post op Pureed/soft food: Day 4 - Day 8 Post op Solid food: Beginning Day 9 post op I have already had Soup today with no issues. I took in a total of 490 calories today and cannot believe how satisfied I was with only liquids. I am very excited about following the progression and being disciplined in my approach! Good bye to the days of 3000+ calories! food will no longer be my life, but merely a way to stay alive!

    Am I doing it right?

I wouldn't worry about the liquids causing you to expand the pouch. I was banded yesterday and I noticed that in just one day, I was able to drink a lot easier. Liquids should pass through quickly enough, so your pouch is not affected. As long as you sip and don't take big gulps, you should be fine even sipping frequently.

    Just Banded!

I know what you mean! I was banded yesterday 1/26 and I have been doing too well myself. I feel like I need a fill already. I didn't have any pre-op diet to follow and in 2 days I am down 16 pounds due to the liquid phase. Even though I could eat something, I am sticking to the progression.
