meressa got a reaction from Recidivist in Lying about not getting surgery is awful
I do the same keep it to myself unless someone who is obese wants to know then I will tell them. Unfortunately this time around I told my mother and I asked her to not say anything to anyone. So it would just be her and my husband who new. But the day of my surgery she made 2 group chats telling my aunts and uncles in one text chat to pray for me because I’m having surgery. Then made another group text with all my brothers and sisters and said I was having surgery to correct my “Gurt”. Naturally they all start texting me about why I didn’t tell them. And to top that off she posted on Facebook everyone pray for my daughter she having surgery to fix her “Gurt” so she won’t be a miserable mother and wife. I was so pissed I asked my mom why did she do that. She said I told them about your Gurt not the other thing. I still can’t get over it because people are texting and calling and asking what is Gurt. ??

I’m so sorry. I went through this too but I didn’t have the lap band. but your surgeon should have told you the sleeve only makes the reflux worse. My surgeon did and suggested a revision to bypass instead because of my severe GERD.

meressa got a reaction from StratusPhr in Did revision due to weight gain actually work for you?
I had the sleeve in 2013 at 274 and my lowest was 170. I regained to 260 in 2017. I mainly wanted a revision for the weight gain but I too have Gerd and I didn’t know at the time it was caused by the sleeve. I thought it was normal to have heart burn. I’ve gotten back down to 233 in the summer last year 2020. I am currently I’m at 255. I’m having my revision to the RNY in about 5 hours but I’ll let you know how it goes with the weight loss.

So I did have revision surgery sleeve to bypass. I’ll be honest and say straight up I did have it to help with my GERD. (Which I no longer have symptoms of) however also for weight loss! My highest weight (before sleeve) was 120kg. I got down to 90kg lowest however regained back up to 110kg. I am now 6 months post revision surgery and I am now down to my lowest ever of 80kg! I am so happy with my revision surgery and am happy with my results so far. Although my loss is a little slower this time around, I am sticking to my plan and weight is consistently moving downwards. No regrets.
All the best to you :)
