  3. I am one of the people who gained weight. I will be 3 years (VSG) in August. But...I stopped reading these...very motivating...message boards...stopped regular weigh ins...and just got carried away going back to old habits. I am happy to say that I still have good restriction. I still do not drink after or during eating (partially because I physically can't)...BUT .... I never made exercise a priority and after about 18 months I started "eating around my sleeve" by eating Cookies for stress relief. I am thankful for this board and I am getting back on board. So basically, just like everyone here has said...IF ... you follow the rules and eat correctly...you will be fine.
  4. Also....if anyone can help me find a forum...for sleevers who have gained weight...I would appreciate it. I am thinking that others that have gained...did what I did and stopped using the message boards as support! It is helpful for me to read about other people who gained and got back into shape. Thanks
  5. This thread has been so helpful to me! I haven't been here for a long time. (My surgery was August 2009.) I have gained weight and I am determined to get back down to a reasonable weight. During my Weight Loss.... I moved. Noone where I lived new me before. When I would see old friends I was told I was too skinny. (imagine that) As time went on, I stopped weighing myself and started making poor choices. I am definately an emotional eater and after a year of total abstinence of cookies....began using them as my quick "grab." I am back on track and I really wish I had kept reading these boards along the way! Thanks again for getting me "back on track!"
  6. I had a sleeve on August 11. I have lost 58 pounds! Your stomach does not stretch with a sleeve. The doctors remove the part of your stomach that stretches. It may seem as if it stretches but actually, your stomach is just healing the first few montsh. At first I considered the band, but then read the complications and decided on the sleeve. I'm not saying that it is easy, but I feel so much better without 58 pounds! I was self pay. Good luck with your decision.
  7. Wow Julie? Can you explain where you found research on people with the sleeve going septic and dieing? I've researched the sleeve for months and never saw this complication? Just curious.
