How can you be successful long-term with WLS if you’ve always failed
First: Yay you and good luck! I'm sure this has been rough to go through. Thanks for sharing this. As a pre-op person, it's extremely helpful to hear about everyone's experiences after the honeymoon period.

Pre-op nutritionist questions
I'm meeting with my nutritionist tomorrow as I'm completing my pre-op requirements. I have a small list of questions, but I know I'm missing some things. We have a short appointment time, and if it's anything like my first visit with the surgeon, it will be up to me to ask questions. Any suggestions for important things I should ask about or clarify?

First Surgeon Visit

HOW DO YOU HANDLE THE LOSS OF FOOD AS AN EMOTIONAL TOOL?
I'm in my pre-op evaluations. I've been REALLY interested to see what people are doing for themselves on the emotional eating front. What is and isn't working post-op. Suggestions, tolls/ideas. This, I think seems like one of the biggest hurdles!

First Surgeon Visit
That totally makes sense. I don't either, so I hope I don't have to do the apnea test. We'll see.

First Surgeon Visit
Oh yes! That's my last one next week! I'm eager to hear about that one as I have NO IDEA what that will be like. Hopefully you'll get a quick approval!

First Surgeon Visit
I'm so interested in how other people's "first visits" are going. I've just completed mine as well and have just a couple of appointments remaining next week before *hopefully* being approved. I know it sounds crazy, but there wasn't nearly as much to go through up front as I thought there would be. After researching, it sounds like my BMI is the reason for that. I'm loving the mental prep for this. Is there anything special you're doing to prepare? GOOD LUCK to you!!

Thank you for being so honest! I'm in pre-op stage still getting requirements completed. Your experience seems very realistic and totally makes sense.

Caffeine limits and guidelines
Good to know!!

Caffeine limits and guidelines
This has been super helpful. None of these guidelines seem unreasonable at all! I was a bit worried about not being able to tolerate caffeine/coffee. I'll find out shortly what my limits will be at different stages.

Caffeine limits and guidelines
That's exactly what I was wondering. I'm super curious about this. Of course, I'll find out what my guidelines are shortly. Thanks for the info!

Caffeine limits and guidelines
I apologize if this post is in the wrong category. I'm new here! I'm in the pre-op phase, almost done with completing my requirements for VSG. I've previously been a big fan of caffeine tablets. Like Jet-Alert or No-Doz. Never been a big coffee drinker. I would have about 100mg a few times a day M-F and a couple on the weekends if we were going to be busy. My husband is a huge coffee drinker and it seems I have 100mgs about as often and in the same fashion as he has a cup of coffee. Just wondering how everyone has been able to handle caffeine after surgery and when it was allowed (if ever)? How much? Around meals? Not at all? I understand that each doctor has different guidelines. What limits were you given at different points after surgery?

Diet changes leading up to surgery
GREAT question. I'm pre-op as well and have been looking for this type of advice.

Excited for a better version of me!
Congrats on completing your requirements! We're in the same boat but I still have a couple of nutrition classes and pulmonary visit to complete. It's exciting and nerve-wracking going through this process, but I'm so ready! Good luck and I hope you get your date soon!

Pre-op habits and surgery prep
Awesome. Good to know I'm on the right track, there. I've not done water on that app, so I'll check that out.

Pre-op habits and surgery prep
Really appreciate the pre-op ideas! @Creekimp13 - Good idea no the walking habit. Were you "prescribed" a certain amount of walking by the doctor daily or weekly? @BigSue - I absolutely LOVE Myfitnesspal! Did you use that post-op at all? The water tracking is something I need to get better at. Great idea. Thanks!

Pre-op habits and surgery prep
Hi all! New here and this is my first post ever. I'm doing my pre-op testing and in research mode (that never ends for me). I don't yet have a surgery date, but preparing myself for the process. For anyone post-op: Were there any habits you focused on or things you did before surgery that made it easier to go through? Anything you wish you would have done beforehand to better prepare?
