December 2020
I am having my lap-band removed and laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery on 8 December. I started my presurgery diet this past Sunday. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I will be in the hospital for 4 days. I have to report to the hospital the night before.

November 2020 sleevers
We don’t do liquid or-surgery diets in Israel. We told to do a low carb diet of 5 small meals three weeks prior to surgery, but I am starting now.

November 2020 sleevers
I am having my lapband removed and laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery on 24 November. I am excited, but also nervous about the removal part of the surgery. I really hope it is a smooth operation. I feel much better prepared this time around because I have been working with a therapist since February who specialises in emotional eating and uses a mindfulness approach. She has helped me unlock the why and I have had several Aha moments in discovering why I have been an emotional eater since I was a child.

April Bandsters?
I was supposed to have been banded this Sunday morning, March 29th, and by 2pm they came and told me that they could not perform the surgery. Apparently there was an 8hr emergency surgery that took up the OR I was suppose to have my surgery in. They asked me stay overnight to try and fit me in today, but at 12pm, they said it was a no go. So, they discharged me and are rescheduling either this Wed, Thurs or next week. I won't know until tomorrow. So, now I am April bandster. Good luck everyone.

Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
I am getting nervous and excited - 2 days to go. My lap band was delivered to my house yesterday and is in a box in my living room. I am curious to see what it looks like up close and in person, but I don't want to contaminate it, so I won't. I know you are all reading this in horror, but this is perfectly normal in Israel. I am suppose to bring the lap band with me to the hospital on Sunday.

Thanks for the advice. I was planning to have chicken soup for the next few days.

Anybody getting banded this week?

Calling All MARCH '09 Bandsters - We need a name!
I had my pre-surgery meeting today and signed my surgery consent form. D-day is this coming Sunday and I can't wait to start the new, exciting and challenging chapter of my life.

Anyone have a spouse who doesn't/didn't want you to get banded?
Wow. Reading this thread makes me appreciate what a wonderful and supportive husband I have. He was initially apprehensive about me having this surgery, but after doing his own research and speaking to the surgeon, he agreed it was the right thing for me to do.

what to tell people at work
I am sure my co-workers will be supportive, but so far I have only told my boss and one co-worker who will not tell a soul. This type of surgery is not well known here so I don't think anyone will guess. I will tell them if they ask.

Going through Approval Process in Israel

I don't think I can do anything at this point. I will just have to be patient. You have lost a lot of weight since the surgery. Why did they put the port in your chest? I thought they put the port somewhere on the side above the waist. Are you seeing a nutritionist regularly?

Going through Approval Process in Israel
Ichilov called me to tell me that it may take as long as six months to schedule the surgery. I am so disappointed. I figured I would have to wait a month or two at the most. hdsantoni - How was your first fill? I assume that you had it done at the hospital.

Losing patience
Lucky for you. I have also finished all of the steps only to find out it might take up to six months to get a surgery date. I am very frustrated and upset that it may take that long. I started this process last August.

Going through Approval Process in Israel
I finally had my appointment with the surgeon at Ichilov. He is very nice and explained everything to me. No pre-diet, one week liquids, one week soft foods, and then gradually add regular food. I will be staying at the hospital overnight and then he said I could go to work in 2-3 days. They are going to call me to tell me my surgery date. I am really getting excited!

Going through Approval Process in Israel
I just came back from speaking with the chief nutritionist and she agreed that I need the surgery. She gave me a letter of reference and now I will go back to my insurance clinic, get the sign off to make an appointment to speak to a surgeon and set my surgery date. I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
