  1. Hi all I’m about 6 weeks post op and to be brutally honest I haven’t been eating the best. I’m eating healthy things but so much of it I feel like I’m sabotaging this sleeve. I can’t stop snacking on protein bars and yogurt with granola. I drink and literally countdown the 30 minutes after I drink to snack. It’s definitely mental and don’t know how to stop. I’m also now having some blood sugar issues. I was on metformin for about 2 weeks post op was doing well, blood sugars ranging from 87-110. Now at 6 weeks my blood sugars have been creeping up. Now it’s at 185! I hope I’m not the only one who went or is going through this. Could really use some advice. Thanks Mark
  2. Hi friends, A bit upset and sad. I’m at day 20 since my VSG and have only lost two lbs since April 3rd. I’m eating the 800-1000 calories my doctor asked of me but I’m not losing any weight. I feel like I’m doing something wrong or made a mistake. I lost 20lbs in the first 9 days but now I’m at a standstill. I’ve heard of the 2nd or 3rd week stall but 10 days sounds a bit much. I’m starting to wonder if I made a mistake. It’s really getting to me. I hear of all these people getting full after three bites of food and I’m not one of them. I’m constantly hungry and snacking on the meals I’m allowed to have Please help I’m really going through it right now. Mark

    Sauces

Howdy folks Day 19 since my VSG and I’m on my purée diet and looking for some guidance. Did you guys use any sauces to make this bland chicken salad taste good, I’ve seen some sugar free bbq sauces but wanted to see if anyone used anything else. Thanks! Mark
  5. Hi friends I’m a bit worried because I’m 2 weeks post op and 5 days into my purée food diet and I hear of people being stuffed quick but I am always hungry and snacking on tuna, egg salad, or ricotta bake. I do eat yogurt but man I just ate 4 oz of tuna salad and could’ve eaten more. I’m getting worried has anyone else felt like this? Thanks Mark

Why am I able to eat so much

I’m eating flounder, tuna salad, chicken, eggs/egg salad, and yogurt. I’m 16 days post op and hunger is real. I don’t go over my calories but I’m just hungry and able to eat a good amount. I stay away from carbs. I can eat 6-8 oz of flounder in a sitting and about 5-6oz of tuna or egg salad.

    Sick of Liquid Diet

I’ve been there I was losing it, everywhere I looked there was food. It definitely suck but I promise it gets better and makes that first day of purée foods a blessing. I’m 12 days post op and I had the same feeling. TRUST me it gets better and I know it’s easier said then done but it will get better.
  9. Howdy friends I’m 11 days out of sleeve surgery and ever since I left the hospital I have diarrhea, sorry TMI but need help. My doctor said it’s normal but I got like 3-4 times a day and never solid. Has this happened to anyone and please tell me it gets better. Thanks Mark
  10. Hi friends I’m 4 days post op and am pretty dehydrated I’m definitely getting my liquids in but no urinating. I ended up having to buy liquid IV because pedialyte wasn’t working. Anyone else have the same issue? I just don’t want to go to the hospital again just to get hydrated. Thanks Mark
  11. Hi friends, Looking for some encouragement. It’s my first day home after surgery, I was in quarantine for a few days. I used to always have a routine of eating a big breakfast before I took my son to school and no after surgery I can’t and I’m a little bummed out. I know it’s all going to be worth it, but right now I’m struggling to see it. Hopefully it gets better Mark
  12. Hi guys Has any of your doctors said that we/you are more susceptible to getting COVID during your recovery time? I work in a retail location in a high risk area and forgot to ask my doctor and was wondering if any of you had a convo with your doctor about that. Thanks Mark

    Out of surgery

I’m 4 days post op and it definitely gets easier. Today was the first day I was able to get close to my 64oz but definitely felt like a full time job. Protein drink makes me sick so I’ve been eating 1-2 oikos pro yogurts which total 50 grams of protein. I split those 12 oz in yogurt into four different snacks. It definitely gets better. Never realized how much I enjoyed chicken stock
  14. On my way to the hospital friends, looking forward to a successful surgery and recovery. I hope to talk to you guys sometime later. Thanks for all your support Mark

    Surgery in 2 hours!!

I have about 5 incision scars, really small. I’m a bit swollen but that’s expected. Just haven’t been able to sleep much
  16. Hi guys Was wondering if anyone had a low grade fever a day or two after surgery? The hospital said it’s normal because of all the changes just wanted to hear others stories Thanks
  17. Hi friends About 36 hours post op and I had like a 99 temperature at the hospital and I feel warm. The nurses said it’s normal since my body is going through all these changes. Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience. Mark
  18. Haven’t been able to eat much, not much of an appetite but I know I’ll eventually have one. My blood sugars slowly came down last night which is good. Still dealing with some gas discomfort but I’m going to walk it off. I did notice I had some swelling around the incisions and was wondering if anyone else had the same. Also if you guys can let me know what I’m looking for as far as weight loss in the first month. Currently 247 Thanks

    Surgery in 2 hours!!

Getting discharged today. Had a little swelling near the biggest incision site but I’m assuming that normal and the nurse also confirmed it. Not much of an appetite but I’ll stay as hydrated as possible. I’m curious to see how much weight I lose in the next few months
  20. Hi friends I’m about 8 hours post op. My blood sugar was 126 right before surgery and now they have to give me insulin because my sugars are in the 160’s all day. Just wondering if anyone else had this issue and did it resolve? Makes me nervous because I was hoping the surgery will help improve my diabetes not hurt them. Thanks again PS gas pain is no joke.

    Surgery in 2 hours!!

Everything went well I just had really bad gas pains on my left abdomen area and shoulders when I breathe in. Everyone keeps saying it’s normal but I always wonder if it’s a leak. I can’t even sleep on my left side or I get a sharp pain and if I get up it’s like a spasm of pain
  22. Thanks for the response many people on this floor are going through the same issues
  23. Hi friends My insurance just approved my surgery and surgery is on Wednesday. I was wondering if anyone had any “hacks” or essentials that can make life easier for post op experience. I heard little medicine cups are helpful, any other suggestions are appreciated Thanks Mark
  24. Howdy folks I’m scheduled for surgery on 3/24 and was wondering how much help I’m going to need to get around? I have a 7 month pregnant wife and just want to make sure I don’t need her to overexert herself to help me. Thanks Make
  25. Hi friends, Surgery is coming up so appreciate any help as I have so many questions. I work in a fast pace retail sales environment which has very little down time. Do you guys have any tips on how I can get my water intake throughout the day. I also heard the little medicine cup is the easiest to help the water get down, just wondering how long it takes everyone to get a 8oz glass of water down. Thanks for all your help Mark
