6 Weeks Post Sadi Op Journey
Hi everyone, just thought to share my journey so far for those thinking of the Sadi procedure. I’ll be 6 weeks post op on Monday and have lost 38 pounds so far, 25 of those were lost post op. The first 9 day post op were pretty painful for me but after that I couldn’t believe how much difference 24 hours made and everything started to shift and get better each day. I was on liquids for the first two weeks post op, then purées for two weeks and now on softish foods for two weeks. After the first two weeks my weight loss slowed down and I can have half a week of no movement on the scales so I stopped weighing myself every day and only weigh weekly now. For the last three weeks I seem to lose between 1.5 to 2.5 pounds a week. I’ve always been a slow loser but at least I am still losing each week and am grateful for that. The things I have to work on the most is getting my water intake and vitamins in each day. I use the Baritastic app to track everything and I find it really helpful. I currently struggle to get in more than 630/650 calories a day, sometimes less, even though I have 5 meals a day and I always make sure to hit my protein goals. I felt super tired and light headed the first three weeks but that has improved and I only feel a bit tired every now and then. I had issues with my wounds healing, due to a reaction to the tape they put on my wounds but that finally cleared up after four weeks. My doctor said no core exercises or lifting until three months post op, so I mainly stick to walking for now. I don’t regret the surgery at all. While I have a lot still to go and a long journey ahead, I’ve lost weight more quickly than I would have prior to having the surgery and my BMI is under 40 for the first time in a decade and a half!! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

OOTD
Thanks so much for the tips, it’s all helpful!! I’ll be happy if I can consistently lose 2.2lbs a week. I definitely have to start a regular walking regime and try up my water intake. Thanks again and good luck at your 3 month check-in ?

Liquids/ Protein
Hi Velvet Anne, I’m 14 days post op and have only reached my water goals in the last three days. My doctor said that the water added to protein shakes counted towards the water goal otherwise there’s no way I could hit the target at the moment. 40oz of protein seems like a lot, my doc said 40 to 60 grams per day for the first two weeks. I bought a flavorless and very soluble protein powder and add that to almost everything. That could help to up the protein amount. The other stuff I bought was flavored protein water powder. Good luck and hope it gets easier for you.

Not hungry but I want to eat!!
I wish I knew who posted it to give them the credit but someone mentioned making up a protein drink and freezing it so it’s like ice-cream and provides a different texture and you’re still getting your protein. I’m going to give it a go. Hang in there, it will get easier!!

Black poop and no restriction feeling
Hi Nanagrrl3, I would check with your doctor but if your multivitamin contains iron then that has been known to make bowel movements look black. Also, I’m 13 days post op and when it comes to sipping water or my shakes I don’t feel restriction at all. That being said, I try to not push the boundaries either and take my time so it doesn’t come back up. It all sounds normal but wouldn’t hurt to ask your doctor. I have my first follow up on Monday and am hoping I can move to puréed foods, can’t wait!! Hope all else has gone well and it would be great to know how you go seeing our surgeries were so close. All the best!!

Hard Recovery
I’m 12 days post op and there’s no way I could have gone back to work after a week. It took me until about day 7 to stop needing pain relief and about 9 to be able to move around without getting really light headed. Good luck and I hope you have started to feel much better

Any March Surgeries?
Hi ShaiMarie, I have known a lot of people to do the gastric sleeve first but then ended up having to do the bypass down the track because the sleeve wasn’t as effective long-term. Every person’s experience will be different of course and hopefully your surgeon can provide the best recommendation for you. All the best!!

Any March Surgeries?
Hi everyone, I had my surgery on the 1st of March and am in the protein shake only phase until Monday. Looking forward to different tastes and textures. If you have any questions at all please feel free to ask. I was a bit nervous before my surgery but thankfully it all went well. It took me a bit longer to get over the pain and feel mobile again, than I thought it would, but feeling better each day.
