loosing before or after first fill
:whoo:I'm with you guys. I was banded on july 24 and don't get a fill until sept 5. I have lost 10 pounds pre & post op. Scales are not moving!!!! My doctor told me this is NOT a weight loss time. Easy for him to say he didn't pay $17,500 for this thing, that doesn't even work yet. BUT I know we have to be patient this is healing time, since they do stitch it to your stomach. Good luck to all of you and me in BANDSTER HELL!!!-Kelli

Six Months Later
Keith-Sorry for your terrible experience w/ the band. Mine has been wonderful and I thank God for that. But I just wanted to wish you well and to let pre-bandsters know that you are right, it can happen. Kelli

Fill at 2 weeks??????
Well, I went to the Dr. yesterday and I go back Sept. 5 for a fill. So 6 wks total. That won't killme. He said the earliest he would do it is 5 wks but I'm just going to play it safe and go by protocol. Thanks everyone for responding and talking about it with me. My dr. said he didn't even care right now how much weight I've lost because "we are in a healing phase, the weight will come off". Kelli

Help...surgery tomorrow...did not loose much pre-op weight
According to my doctor I had only lost 3 pounds pre-op. I did cheat on 2 different occassions. You should be fine. But each surgeon is different. I have a low BMI so that could be why, I'm not sure but he did do the surgery. He also said my liver looked good and shrunk. Good luck!

Fill at 2 weeks??????
Thank you all for responding. I guess it's wishful thinking. However, I do want the safest time to get a fill. Everything so far as been wonderful and easy. Good luck to all of you with your weightloss journey and know we are just beginning. Thanks, Kelli

Fill at 2 weeks??????
Hello All!! Well, I was banded on July 24, 2007 and I return to my Dr. tomorrow for my post-op (he was out of town last week) has anyone ever heard of getting a fill at 2 weeks? I just thought I would ask. I know, I know it's the healing time, but I am HUNGRY. I understand I can start soft/mushy foods on tuesday and that will probably help, but I don't want to gain the weight I have already lost in between tuesday and the fill. Which I think is normally 6 weeks right? Well, I just was wondering if anyone had heard of a fill that soon or if I shouldn't even worry about it (safety wise). Thanks for the input. I love everyone on here!!!! Kelli:help:

Just Banded
Cyndiet- I was banded on July 24 and I have to be on 2 weeks liqiud. Anything I can blend and it can fit through a straw. 3 protien drinks a day. And then pureed/soft food for 1-2 weeks. Every DR. is different so the best thing is to ask, but from the ones I read on here that sounds pretty normal. Good Luck!!!

Thinking of LapBand
jordansmom- I was self-pay at $17,500 here in florida. That does include a year of fills. My insurance would not cover weight lose surgery, but I know some of them do. Since I was self pay my doctor would have done my surgery within 2-3 wks if I would have gotten all of my pre-op stuff done in that time frame. Good Luck-Kelli

Smoking??
Mal, I didn't do anything else except pick an end date, nothing else!!!. He has to pick an end date. Then he has to stick with it and the medicine will carry him the rest of the way. He has to want to quite smoking for it to work. Good luck !!

Smoking??
Yep I agree with SD Chick. I only had to take the medicine 2 1/2 weeks and then no more cigarettes. I did tell myself July 9 was my stopping day and I had taken CHantix the week prior. It was really, really easy. I don't even need the meds anymore. Good Luck, Kelli

Smoking??
I'm now on 2 days post-op and I quit smoking 2 weeks ago per Dr. requirements. My PCP ordered Chantix and it is like a magical pill. It doesn't give you nicotine, it blocks the brain from the craving. Look it up on the internet if your interested, I swear by it!!!
