  1. My port bothers me on a regular basis...SO worth it though
  2. And what did you pay? With insurance...without?
  3. I am going for an endoscopy the day before thanksgiving...it's routine but I have been told that my band has slipped slightly (or is it stretched) and I feel as if it will be worse when I go for my endoscopy. I had a bad flu incident and couldn't stop throwing up. What can I expect with an endoscopy...what happens if they find something wrong? Will it interfere with my thanksgiving? HELP!
  4. The band has going to be a secret...it will be hard letting someone in and letting them know about the band especially since 4 out of 5 friends don't know i've had it done. However with the port and the gurgling it's not going to be easy to hide it...plus the fact i can't eat much
  5. Now don't get me wrong, I am SO happy with where I am and my decision. I would do it again in a heart beat, but in my situation I am completely socially inept especially when it comes to dating. It SUCKS. I have NO IDEA what i'm doing, but what is worse is the telling someone it is not going to work out. I'm 24 years old and I have no idea how to do it, granted I just did. Before it wasn't a problem, I was alot more shy I guess and didn't put myself out there so relationships weren't an option now it is. It's difficult to break out of your comfort zone and just go for it just jump into a relationship and letting someone get to know you. Bleh guess I just needed to vent, but also thought it was an interesting topic. What other "side effects" have you found? Good or bad.
  6. Hey guys I've been wondering. Why do our ports bother us? Sometimes I think it's because I eat too much but I haven't over eaten today (at all) and it's still bothering me. I have plans for tonight and don't want to be hindered by my port bothering me. How do you guys stop it from hurting? I keep thinking maybe it's inflamed muscle but we can't take any antiinflamitory drugs...
  7. I say chewing and spitting is better than eating. But that's just me.
  8. I don't see how I could be eating too much but maybe that's it...or excersise because I feel it after spin class...just really annoying. Thanks!
  9. It's driving me nuts, my port hurts. Typically every day in the evening my port hurts. I thought at first I was eating to much but now I don't think that is it. I am a year post op. Why do I have port pain?
  10. Short and sweet but I wonder how his wife would feel. I mean I know alot of times at that age it becomes about having a companion and not necessarily anything more than that. I know if it were my husband I would want him to have somebody there, especially since he wouldn't be used to being alone.
  11. Ok thanks for the info. I knew that sometimes it could hurt the band but maybe it was a one time deal, we can hope anyway. I didn't eat much last night, my band seemed to be having one of those "i'm going to be super tight feeling for no reason" but things seem fine this morning, aside from the reflux which I had never felt before.
  12. Hey guys. I have a question for all you knowlegeable bandsters. I have had acid reflux for the first time last night. I had a few drinks (which I haven't done in I don't know how long) and last night and this morning i've been having reflux. What does this mean with the band. Could this just be a one time thing because I drank or what? Thanks!
  13. Thanks, I have signed up for personal training sessions but I wasn't sure of weight limitations because of the band.
  14. Yes there is a low profile port that can be changed out. It is about the size of a dime. Talk to your doc. And congratulations!!!!
  15. I was banded about a year ago, gallbladder surgery 3 weeks ago. I am wanting to start weight training. Are there weight limitation on what you can do on resistance machines (not free weights)? Can I hurt anything? What about biking? Thanks!
  16. NO you'll be good to go. Don't sweat it, just let the dr. know.
  17. I am so close to goal for the first time in my life...yet i've started eating horribly! Almost as if i'm sabatoging myself, or perhaps have just gotten too comfortable with my current weight. Bleh! What do you do when you want to kick yourself back into gear?
  18. 100% yes if I had the money
  19. Spydr, that's great news! Wish you could upload the video of you swinging/flying. It's good to see you again, I always look for you when I visit the dr.s office.
  20. Thanks for the info. I will try to keep them on a bit longer....i guess
  21. I had gallbladder surgery a little more than a week ago. The steril strips are still on there but they are dirty looking and peeling at the corners. When can they come off? WHen can I pull them off? Thanks
  22. I think it is a great idea! I was selfpay but it couldn't hurt anything and it could definatly brighten a few peoples lives.
  23. Tami, I wish I knew the answer to that question myself. I can't quite figure it out.
  24. Do you ever feel like somedays you fight as hard as you can against yourself to keep yourself from eating everything in sight... And then other days... You are fighting to get enough calories in in one day?
  25. I had my gallbladder out Saturday. I feel great, I mean no problems at all. Was up and about and stayed that way. I want to excersize and get back into it but my docs appt is not till the 12th. What are your takes on it. What have you heard ect?
