Do your own fills at home???!!!
Without the proper needles, and technique you are setting yourself up for infection, loosing you port/band and damaging irreveribly the port. IS it really worth that? teri

Roll Call...All having a Revision From Band to RNY Come on In
I don't know your financial/insurance situation, but MANY MANY insurances that do cover revision require you wait two yrs. That's what's holding me up, that two year mark... which is september 16. My surgeon's office is working with me, I've got a couple of my appts out of the way.

Roll Call...All having a Revision From Band to RNY Come on In
I am in the process. Medicare's only restrictions (here in ny anyway) are that you still meet original surgical conditions... BMI over 35 with one co-morbidity, or over 40. I'm still over 40, and i have multiple co-moribidities, so am going thru the process. My surgical center requires you to have finished 2 yrs with the band. Teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
Hello all. Just home from a visit with my surgeon. The fills since Christmas time have gotten me right where I wanna be. I could go a tad bit tighter, but that is something I'm afraid of. I'm loosing a pound a week at this point. I'm down from a 12/16/09 high of 249, to 235, after lunch and fully dressed. I'll take it. He won't see me again until July, and if I've not lost another 10-15 pounds we're seriously looking at a bypass. I'm ready for it. I struggle so with loosing every pound. But am starting to feel like it wasn't a complete waste of money. Teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
I'm doing two things different: 1) i had a fill december 16, and it really seems to ghave been right what i needed. I toally didn't want or need snacking. 2) i'm dating a guy that had RNY. What amazing support you get when you have a fellow WLS person in your immediate face. teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
I would love to, but fear i'd loose to much right now. I finally know what it is to have restriction. In the last 5 weeks i have lost 10 pounds. I think this band and I are working together for once. I fear it will end. teri

merry Christmas to my fellow bandsters... sept 08
I'm doing ok. Thanks for asking. This last adjustment seems to be closer if not the perfect spot for me. I lost and maintained a loss of two pounds over the holidays. Which means I gained back two. But geez my appt was a few days after new years. I had ham for new years, which means I'm swollen too (or was). I go back feb 1st, and will decide then if I need to bump things up even more, or am liking where I am. I get statisfied easier, so I think we're finally moving in the right direction. How about you? How are you doing? Teri

Made up my mind to finally do it
I'd love to see you having some APATHY! I just can't see it you heartless witch.

Should Medicare/Medicaid cover the band?
I don't know how you made up that whaa whaa wha bull shit. But you are totally not worth my time. I too hope they can find a health insurance option that is for all. And stops making the elderly and the not healthy the horrible ones out there! Teri

Should Medicare/Medicaid cover the band?
May! Indeed you did. One of my son's fathers is dead. Sorry that's the truth. So no unless you know something about heaven/hell and earth relationships that I don't, I don't believe that is possible. The twins father is in jail for raping me. Thank for putting that information out there. Yup, I had such a low self esteem I let myself get into that situation. I get no money from him, or his family who all deny any connection to my children. Second, Matthew is PROFOUNDLY disabled. He's non-verbal. He's not able to use his hands for even feeding himself. His legs, well he can push a gait trainer, but only short distances. So I guess he can't be gainfully employed, he's also only 3 yrs old. Third for my disability... I have 9 YES NINE herniated discs causing extreme pain, and yes I've had surgery on the worst, working on loosing weight for more. Then if they're all successful, maybe just maybe I can rejoin the working force. I herniated the discs in car accidents, not because of my weight, because at the time of injury I was just 202. They of course worsened in the course of my twin pregnancy. But I can't go around killing my own children. Something you probably wouldn't understand. Go ahead quit paying taxes. See what happens to you.... for those that wanna know what she/he said... I'll copy paste it for ya. BTRIEGER said.... Terilynn, I tried to be nice but I guess you don't want me to stay quiet on the subject. First off, you are either abusing the system or an unfit mother. You can't possibly be too disabled to work but able to care for 3 children on your own. Which is it? Second, why can't your baby daddy's insurance cover the medical? Being a single mom is not a badge of courage in my book. It "usually" means irresponsible parent that had no right to have children when they did. Third, plenty of people with CP are productive members of society and are not freeloaders. Dependent upon your child's age and the level of his/her disability, maybe a job is in order. And finally, don't go biting the hand that feeds you. I may stop paying my taxes and then where would you be? (end quote) I'm glad you got a sense of whatever you want to call it. Think before you speak... think before you do. Merry Christmas, teri

Should Medicare/Medicaid cover the band?
You are an ignorant person. I wish you well in your journey, but secretly I hope and pray that as a person you have an awakening. To know what it is like to suffer poverty level incomes. Or God be good, know what it's like to be not able to work, and having to do without! Teri

things seem to be getting stuck
At almost 15 months post op... I have RECENTLY learned to slow down. Chew chew and chew some more. I thought I was getting stuck because I was to tight. Once I learned to slow down, and chew properly, I've had no problem, other than I lost what I considered restriction. Three more fills later (My dr is concervative with them), and I've finally started really loosing. Good luck teri

merry Christmas to my fellow bandsters... sept 08
Well it's this time of year... how are we all doing? In spite of my looking into a revision, I think I've finally got my band adjusted properly. I'm learning now to s-l-o-w down. It's so hard with the kids, but I've lost 4 pounds since my last adjustment... one week ago. teri:tt1:

Should Medicare/Medicaid cover the band?
I am young enough to work... heck my mom at 67 and father at 68 are young enough to be employed. So i shouldn't have medicaid? Ok... who'd help with my medical bills, and that of my children, since I am physically not able to work, which is why I have medicare. I have several reasons to be NOT able to work. My son has CEREBRAL PALSY, and you're telling me he can work and get off medicaid. Maybe in your own unintelligent mind. teri:cursing:

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
It's confirmed I'm a banster for another 8 months. Then if things are still going poorly we will start the process over. At least I won't have to loose the weight again, to show commitment. That's good, because I'm busy gaining right now :scared2: I hate this. Why am I gaining. I'm more active, and eating right according tot he nut. She's at a loss. I've even cut Out carbs (bad ones anyway). Halloween has been hard on me. Kids keep trying to shove candy in my face. Thanksgiving is next... but I'm ok with that one. I eat my turkey, a tbsp of stuffing, and potatoes and fill up the rest on cauliflower. Not bad in my book. Then for "desert" I will have some sugar free, fat free milk made pudding pie. IF I have any. I'm back to walking. In fact Last month I did a 2.2 mile pit run/walk in walk mode with 4 kids (my three and a brothers one). Been a hard week here, Matthew had surgery, Brandon and myself have been sick. Teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
It's not for sure, as I have heard I'm stuck with this for two years. So I may be a bandster for another year. Not 100% sure I'm doing this. Just exploring options. I hate that my diabetes is coming back. I've gained a few pounds back, but less than 10, and they say that's not an excuse for that. They said i'd have to have gained like 40. So that's not right. So maybe my body is just worsening. Right now I have a long list of appts, starting with my surgeon on the 19th, and ending with my nut on the 26th. (Ironically the day Matthew has surgery himself) So time will tell. I'm frustrated, not eating much, and yet gaining. I just don't understand it. Seriously on fit day yesterday it said I have eaten 800 calories (which felt like a lot), and I'm up another 2 pounds. Add to that that I'm now on a medication to induce menopause. I'm a wreck. If this works for a short time, I'll be having my ovaries removed. teri

Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
My insurance will only cover the band or the RNY. So if the band isn't working for or with me, then the RNY is my only other choice. That said.... I've not totally given up. I still have my Fluid in the band. Any more I'm stuck all the time, any less and I'm hungry at 10 minutes later. It's like it flushes right thru. I'm tired of the fills. I'm tired of not being able to be satisfied with meals. I eat little, but still am not loosing, and it's not because I skip on exercise, because I do quite a bit of it. Then the added news is (and the straw that is breaking my back) my diabetes is back. I'm back on metformin. On a good note, I did a 2 mile stroll (2.2 miles to be exact) on Sunday and did it without getting hurt, and without stopping to rest. I did it with the boys, plus a cousin of theirs. IT was fun. Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in
I'm giving the thought of switching from lapband to RNY some serious thought... in fact so much so I've contacted my surgeon to go over my options. Teri
