When you say “very ill” are you in pain? If so you may need to speak to your Bariatric team and tell them everything ASAP.

Ah I see. Well, everyone makes mistakes, but eating solid food two weeks out can cause serious complications. Not trying to alarm you or anything, but just keep an eye on it and see how you feel. Hopefully it was just a blip and you’ll be absolutely fine don’t beat yourself up, this is a difficult journey for everyone but just learn from your mistake.

it's just the three-week stall. Almost all of us go through it. It's not ALWAYS the third week, but sometime within the first 4-6 weeks after surgery.

it's that first staff for sure. Almost all of us have our first major stall within the first month or so of surgery (usually the third week, but not always). Mine was weeks 2 & 3. Just stick to your plan and stay off the scale if you have to. Your weight loss WILL start up again.

You will probably hear this over and over.... but are you tracking your food? Portioning out? Of course, not eating with meals and waiting the 30 min after the last bite?
Did you do your before and after pictures and measurements? Sometime the scale won't move but your clothes fit better. Pictures are important... we don't always see what we really look like.
I always found planning and portioning is the best way to go. I pre plan what i'm going to have the next day and have it ready to go. I do still work outside the home M-F. Even if its a new restaurant, i google the online menu and read every item and decide what i will have. I always have a back up in case they are out. I also ask for a go box with the meal. Before i take one bite i portion my food and box everything else up. Hand the box to my husband and he knows not to give it back..... This will also stop the wait staff from asking if your meal is ok...When they see you barely touch your meal....They will keep asking.

    you're fine
as far as water hurting your pouch - some people's pouches are sensitive to extreme temps in the first few weeks after surgery. Maybe try drinking it at room temperature?

I had a lot of trouble getting enough water the first few days. Even drinking 3 ounces per hour made me feel like I just ate Thanksgiving dinner. The good news is that they pump you full of IV fluids at the hospital, so that will help prevent dehydration at the beginning.
I'm two weeks out now and I can drink water at a reasonable pace without feeling stuffed. You are doing it right by sipping throughout the day. You don't need to worry about set meal times until you start eating actual food (pureed stage), and at that point, you'll have to wait 30 minutes after the meal to drink anything (some programs also say no liquids 30 minutes before the meal).
As for the pain when the water hits the pouch, I was told it is fairly common to have cramps or spasms in your stomach, especially when drinking cold liquids. I was given a prescription for hyoscyamine to help with that (which I took for the first few days, but I haven't had any more issues after that).

You are doing great!! Baby sips for now, and just keep sipping throughout the day. Right now your body is still healing, so no need to worry about anything else right now!!
GOOD LUCK, and welcome to the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!

16 lbs is normal. I think people have a skewed perception because of shows like "My 600 Lb Life", but you have to remember those people start out at a MUCH higher BMI than the typical WLS patient. Although there are outliers on either side, most of us lose somewhere in the 15-25 lb range that first month. I lost 16 lbs, like you, even though I started out heavier than you. And I ended up losing all of my excess weight. So don't fret - it's your level of commitment that determines your ultimate success, not your rate of weight loss. You are doing just fine!

Hi guys! Just wondering if I am doing the liquid stage right? I'm struggling to get the water in as I am only taking small sips. Trying my best to get this better though, but I'm so worried about stretching my pouch. It sometimes hurts when the water hits the pouch too.
Secondly, I have been using 250ml bottles of low sugar high protein shakes, but I end up sipping on them all day rather than drinking them at a set meal time. Is this right?
    Thanks [emoji4]
