    August surgery

Hi! Surgery went well, no surprises or anything unexpected according to my surgeon. The gas pain is finally better today as I was able to expel some and I walked a lot to get it moving around. I still get bouts of nausea and cramps that last 2-4 seconds when I drink something but they said it’s normal. I will admit, forcing myself to drink is so difficult. I also admit that I get bouts of “buyers remorse” but I know it’s because I’m stressed about the nausea and struggling to have an appetite to reach my fluid and protein intake. I’m just trying to take this day-by-day.
  2. I just have my sleeve surgery yesterday (8/24) and the gas pain is no joke. I have little burps here and there and keep walking laps, but it just doesn’t want to go away. I’ve tried to lay on my left side, as well. Any tips or tricks? Thanks!

    Gas pain

Thanks :) I can have liquids... I’ll ask if they have herbal tea. It’s so annoying because my actual stomach doesn’t hurt... I can get up easily. It’s just these damn gas pains. I wish I could let out a big burp or even from the other end lol!

    August surgery

Surgery is tomorrow, 8/24 at 7:30am. Today is going to be a bit more tough since I can only have liquids but I’m excited and anxious for tomorrow and for this life change :)

    Anyone for August 2020

VSG is on the 24th for me and my anxiety is in overdrive (fear of dying). I’m glad to read all the good outcomes on here but of course that then makes me think I’ll be the one to have complications. *sigh* Anyway, I’m hoping all goes well. Good luck to everyone!
  6. I have my VSG on 8/24 and have been following my preop diet very strictly. The cravings and constant thinking of food is soooo annoying though. I’m even cravings things I don’t even like, like pies and other super sweet desserts; I prefer savory flavors and don’t crave sweets very often. I keep telling myself “8 more days....” but it’s just soooo hard. Good news though, I’ve lost almost 9lbs since last Monday, but what I wouldn’t do for a peanut butter sundae right about now, haha!
  7. So to be perfectly frank, being an extra 80lbs heavier than you should is NOT perfectly healthy, so shame on your PCP. Anytime a doctor asks me how my health is, I tell them I’m fat, just to break the ice lol. It’s just a matter of time when your body starts getting tired of carrying around the extra weight... which is what’s happening to me the older I get. Being healthy isn’t for vanity... it’s literally to be healthy. But you need to do this for yourself and if you feel like it’s not the right thing at this time, then you shouldn’t do it. Good luck with whatever you decide!

    August surgery

Surgery is on 8/24 and I’m on day 3 of my preop diet. The days are crawling by....
  9. Hey everyone! I’m scheduled for 8/24 so I have started my preop diet today. While I have my paperwork which outlines everything I can drink and eat - do any of you have any personal advice that has helped you, too? Luckily, my surgeon allows one meal per day consisting of 5oz of meat and 2 cups of veggies, along with a fat (ex: 1 tsp of olive oil). Thanks! :)
  10. Yay same here!! The diet is hitting my concentration hard and I feel so sleepy. I’m just thankful I have a desk job so I can preserve my energy lol. Is yours an all liquid diet?

How did you pick your doctor?

Ratings and experience. Also, my insurance required a doctor approved with a COE.
  12. My surgery is on the 24th and I cannot wait to say goodbye to low self-esteem relating to my weight, refusing to be in family pictures, low energy, achy feet and joints, blood pressure meds, and my double chin; I hold fat in my face and it makes me so self-conscience. I’m just looking forward to this new chapter :)

    August 2020 Surgery

My surgeon doesn’t allow jello. It’s interesting to see the differences in the diets!

    New to the forum

Hi everyone, I hope it’s ok to post here. I just signed up to hopefully find some additional support in this journey. I finished my 6th dietician appointment June 29 and currently waiting on insurance approval (I have UHC and they require a 6 month process and a COE.... ugh). Anyway, my surgery is scheduled for August 24 as the soonest date, but I’m nervous it may be postponed due to COVID-19. Of course those folks are more important but I hope you understand where I’m coming from. I was due to get married in September, but for everyone’s safety, we cancelled the wedding and will elope somewhere instead. I’m relieved as wedding planning is stressful and I find myself yo-yoing, of course. I have a lot of faith in myself to be successful with my sleeve surgery. I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my life and I’m looking forward to feeling healthy, confident, and having more energy. I’m looking forward to learning from all of you! Thanks!
